7 Overview Replacing the r emote contr ol batteries 1. T o open the battery cover , turn the remote cont rol ov er to view its back, push on the finger grip on the cov er and slide it up in the dir ection of the arr ow as illustrated. The cov er will slide off.

19 Positioning your projector Connecting with video equipment Y ou can connect the projector to an y type of video e quipment, such as a VCR, DVD pla yer , Blu-ray pla yer , digital tuner , cable or satellite decoder , video game co nsole or digital camera.
20 Positioning your projector Connecting component-video devices Be sure to match the corr esponding colors betw een the cables and the terminals. The RC A type component video jacks are pr ovided for connection to video output devices. Y ou should also connect th e separate audio cable to a suitable audi o amplifier .
21 Positioning your projector Connecting a computer Connect the projector to a computer with a V GA cable . Many la ptops do not turn on their external video ports when connect ed to a projector . Usually a key combination like Fn + F3 or CR T/LCD key turns the e xternal display on/o ff.
22 Using the projector Using the pr ojector Preparations 1. Plug in and turn all of the connected equipment on. 2. If not already in, plug the supplied pow er cable into the A C inlet on the rear of the pr ojector . 3. Plug the pow er cable into a wall pow er outlet and turn the wall switch on.
23 Using the projector Selecting an input sour ce The pr ojector can be connected to mu ltiple equipment at the same time. When the pr ojector is first turned on , it will attempt to reconne ct with the input sour ce which was in use when the pr ojector was last shut down.
24 Using the projector Using the menus The pr ojector is equipped with multilingual On -Screen Displa y (OSD) menus for making various adjustments and settings. Below is the o verview of the OSD menu. T o use the OSD menus, please set the OSD men u to your familiar language.
25 Using the projector Utilizing the passw ord function For security purposes and to help pre vent unauthorized use, the projector includes an option for setting up passw ord security . The passwor d can be set th rough the On-Screen Displa y (OSD) menu.

32 Using the projector Selecting a Gamma setting Highlight Gamma Selection in the Pict ure > Advanced... men u and select a prefer red setting by pressing / on the projector or r emote control. Gamma ref ers to the relationship betw een input sour ce and picture brightness.

34 Using the projector Adjusting the sound The sound adjustments made as below will ha ve an effe ct on t he projector speak er(s). Be sure y ou ha ve made a corr ect connection to the projector audio input. See "Connecting with video equipment" on page 19 for how the audio input is connected.
35 Using the projector Selecting the aspect ratio The "aspect ratio" is the r atio of the image width to the image height. Digital TV is usually in 16:9 ratio , which is the default for this projector , and most analog TV signals and D VDs are in 4:3 ratio.
36 Using the projector image. Anamorphic is most suitable for images which ar e already in a 16:9 aspect, lik e high definit ion TV , as it displa ys them without aspect alteration.
37 Using the projector Operating in a high altitude en vir onment W e recommend that yo u activate High Altitude Mode when your envir onment is higher than 1500 meters (around 4920 f eet) above sea lev el, or whenev er the projector will be used for extended periods of time (>10 hours) without shutdown.

44 Using the projector System Setup : Basic menu 3D 3D Mode This pr ojector features a 3D function which enables you t o enjoy the 3D movies, videos, and sporting ev ents in a more r ealistic way b y presenting the depth of the images. Y ou need to wear a pair of 3D glasses to view the 3D images.

48 Using the projector Lamp information Getting to know the lamp hour When the pr ojector is in operation, the duration (in hours) of lamp us age is automatically calculat ed by the built-in timer . See "Setting Lamp P o wer as Economic or Smart Eco" belo w for more information on Economic mode.
49 Using the projector Timing of r eplacing the lamp When the Lamp indicator lights up r ed or a message appears sugge sting it is time to replace the lamp , please install a new lamp or consult y our dealer . An old lamp ma y cause a malfunction in the projector and in some instances the lamp ma y explode .
