13 Important safety instructions P ositioning y our pr ojector Choosing a location Y our proj ector is designed to be installed in one of four possible installation locations. Y our r o om la yout or personal pr efer ence will dictate which installation l ocation you select.
14 Important safety instructions Obtaining a pr efer r ed pr ojected image size The distance fr om the projector lens to the screen, the zoom setting, and the video format each factors in the pr ojected image size.

18 Important safety instructions Shifting the pr ojection lens vertically The ve r tical lens shift control pr ovides flexibil ity for in stalling your pr ojector . It allows the pr ojector to be positioned slightly abov e or below the top level of the pr ojected images.
19 Important safety instructions Connecting with video equipment Y ou can connect the projector to any type of video e quipment, such as a VCR, D VD play er , Blu-ray pla yer , digital tuner , cable or satell ite decoder , video game co nsole or digital camera.
20 Important safety instructions Connecting HDMI devices • Connecting HDMI devices to the projector with HDMI cables HDMI (High-Definition Multimedia Interface) suppor ts uncompressed video data transmission between compatible de vices like DTV tuners, D VD play ers, Blu-ra y pla yers and displa ys over a single cable.
21 Important safety instructions Connecting component-video devices Be sure to match the corr esponding colors betw een the cables and the terminals. The RC A type component video jacks are pr ovided for connection to video output devices. Y ou should also connect the separate audio cable to a suitable audi o amplifier .
22 Important safety instructions Connecting a computer Connect the projector to a computer with a V GA cable . Many la ptops do not turn on their external video ports when connect ed to a projector . Usually a k ey combination like Fn + F3 or CR T/LCD key turns the e xternal display on/o ff.
23 Important safety instructions Using the pr ojector Preparations 1. Plug in and turn all of the connected equipment on. 2. If not already in, plug the supplied pow er cable into the A C inlet on the rear of the pr ojector . 3. Plug the power cable into a wall pow e r outlet and turn the wall switch on.
24 Important safety instructions Selecting an input sour ce The pr ojector can be connected to mu ltiple equipment at the same time. When the pr ojector is first turned on , it will attempt to reconne ct with the input sour ce which was in use when the pr ojector was last shut down.
25 Important safety instructions Using the menus The pr ojector is equipped with multilingual On -Screen Displa y (OSD) menus for making various adjustments and settings. Below is the o verview of the OSD menu. T o use the OSD menus, pl ease set the OSD menu to yo ur familiar language .
26 Important safety instructions Utilizing the passw ord function For security purposes and to help pre vent unauthorized use, the projector includes an option for setting up passw ord security . The passwor d can be set th rough the On-Scr een Display (OSD) menu.
27 Important safety instructions Entering the passw ord r ecall procedur e 1. Mak e sure the Input P assword page displa ys on screen. Pr ess and hold AUT O on the projector or remote control for 3 seconds. The pr ojector will displa y a coded number on the scr een.
28 Important safety instructions Adjusting the pr ojected image Adjusting the pr ojection angle There ar e four adjuster fe et on the bottom of the projector . These can be used if necessar y to change the projection angle. Screw the f eet in or out as appropriate to aim and lev el the pr ojection angle.
29 Important safety instructions Using the pr eset and user modes Selecting a pr eset mode The pr o jector is pr eset with several pre-def ined pictur e modes so that you can choose one to suit your operating envir onment and input so urce pictur e type .
30 Important safety instructions 5. Press to highlight a pictur e mode that is closest to your need and pr ess MODE/ENTER and MENU/EXIT to go back to the User Mode Management page. 6. Here yo u can rename the User 1 , User 2 , or User 3 mode by pressing to highlight Ren ame User Mode and press MODE/ENTER .
31 Important safety instructions Adjusting Color Highlight Color in the Picture -- Basic menu and adjust the values by pr essing / on the proj ector or re mote contr ol. Low er setting pr oduces less saturated colors; setting to t he minimum value mak es the image black and white.

33 Important safety instructions Selecting a Gamma setting Highlight Gamma Selection in the Pict ure -- Basic > Advanced... menu and select a pref erred setting by pr essing / on the pr ojector or remote contr ol. Gamma ref ers to the relationship betw een input sour ce and picture brightness.

35 Important safety instructions Adjusting the sound The sound adjustments made as below will ha ve an effe ct on t he projector speak er(s). Be sure y ou ha ve made a corr ect connection to the projector audio input. See "Connecting with video equipment" on page 19 for how the audio input is connected.
36 Important safety instructions Selecting the aspect ratio The "aspect ratio" is the r atio of the image width to the image height. Digital TV is usually in 16:9 ratio , which is the default for this projector , and most analog TV signals and D VDs are in 4:3 ratio .
37 Important safety instructions image. Anamorphic is most suitable for images which ar e already in a 16:9 aspect, lik e high definit ion TV , as it displa ys them without aspect alteration.
38 Important safety instructions Operating in a high altitude en vir onment W e recommend that y ou activate High Altitude Mode when your envir onment is higher than 1500 meters (around 4920 f eet) above sea lev el, or whenev er the projector will be used for extended periods of time (>10 hours) without shutdown.

Pr ess the button again. • The Po wer indicator light flashes orange and the fans run for about two mi nutes to cool the lamp .

52 Important safety instructions Ad ditional information Car e of the pr ojector Y our projector needs little maintenance. The only thing you ha ve to do on a r egular basis is keep the lens clean. Nev er remo ve an y par ts of the proj ector except the lamp.
53 Important safety instructions Lamp information Getting to know the lamp hour When the pr ojector is in operation, the duration (in hours) of lamp us age is automatically calculat ed by the built-in timer . See "Setting Lamp P o wer as Economic or Smart Eco" belo w for more information on Economic mode.
54 Important safety instructions Timing of r eplacing the lamp When the Lamp indicator lights up r ed or a message appears sugge sting it is time to replace the lamp , please install a new lamp or consult y our dealer . An old lamp may cause a malfunction in the projector and in some instances the lamp ma y explode .

Remove lamp cov er from the pr ojector . • Do not turn on the po wer with lamp co ver remo ved. • Do not insert your f ingers betwee n the lamp and the projector .
56 Important safety instructions Resetting the lamp timer Do not reset the lamp timer if the lamp has no t been replac ed as this could cause damage. 14. After the start-up logo , press MENU/EXIT and then pr ess / until the Advanced Setu p menu is highlighted.
