7 Overview Replacing the r emote contr ol batteries 1. T o open the battery cover , turn the remot e control ov er to view its back, push on the finger grip on the cov er and slide it up in the dir ection of the arr ow as illustrated. The cov er will slide off.
8 Overview If you use a non-BenQ brand pr ojector ceiling mount kit, ther e is a safety risk that the pr ojector ma y fall fr om the ceiling due to an improper attachment thr ough the use of the wrong gauge or length scr ews. 13 Positioning your projector P ositioning y our pr ojector Choosing a location Y our pr ojector is designed to be installed in one of four possible installation locations. Y our r oom lay out or personal pref erence will di ctate which installation location y ou select.

20 Positioning your projector Shifting the pr ojection lens vertically The ve r tical lens shift control pr ovides flexibil ity for in stalling your pr ojector . It allows the pr ojector to be positioned slightly abov e or below the top level of the pr ojected images.
21 Positioning your projector Connecting with video equipment Y ou can connect the projector to an y type of video e quipment, such as a VCR, DVD pla yer , Blu-ray pla yer , digital tuner , cable or satellite decoder , video game co nsole or digital camera.

The RC A type component video jacks are pr ovided for connection to video output devices. Y ou should also connect th e separate audio cable to a suitable audi o amplifier .
23 Positioning your projector Connecting a computer Connect the projector to a computer with a V GA cable . Many la ptops do not turn on their external video ports when connect ed to a projector . Usually a key combination like Fn + F3 or CR T/LCD key turns the e xternal display on/o ff.
24 Using the projector Using the pr ojector Preparations 1. Plug in and turn all of the connected equipment on. 2. If not alr eady in, plug the supp lied powe r cable into the AC inlet on the rear of the pr ojector . 3. Plug the power cable into a wall pow e r outlet and turn the wall switch on.
25 Using the projector Selecting an input sour ce The pr ojector can be connected to mu ltiple equipment at the same time. When the pr ojector is first turned on , it will attempt to reconnect with the input sour ce which was in use when the pr ojector was last shut down.
26 Using the projector Using the menus The pr ojector is equipped with multilingual On -Screen Displa y (OSD) menus for making various adjustments and settings. Below is the o verview of the OSD menu. T o use the OSD menus, please set the OSD men u to your familiar language.

35 Using the projector Saturation is the amount of that color in a video pictur e . Lo wer settings pr oduce less saturated colors; a setting of “0” remo ves that color from the imag e entirely . If the saturation is too high, that color will be o verpow ering and unrealistic.
36 Using the projector Selecting the aspect ratio The "aspect ratio" is the r atio of the image width to the image height. Digital TV is usually in 16:9 ratio , which is the default for this projector , and most analog TV signals and D VDs are in 4:3 ratio.
37 Using the projector image. Anamorphic is most suitable for images which ar e already in a 16:9 aspect, lik e high definit ion TV , as it displa ys them without aspect alteration.

44 Using the projector System Setup : Basic menu 3D 3D Mode This pr ojector features a 3D function which enables you t o enjoy the 3D movies, videos, and sporting ev ents in a more realis tic way by prese nting the depth of the images. Y ou need to wear a pair of 3D glasses to view the 3D images.

49 Using the projector Timing of r eplacing the lamp When the Lamp indicator lights up r ed or a message appears sugge sting it is time to replace the lamp , please install a new lamp or consult y our dealer . An old lamp ma y cause a malfunction in the projector and in some instances the lamp ma y explode .
