12 Positioning your projector English P ositioning y our pr ojector Choosing a location Y our pr ojector is designed to be installed in one of four possible installation locations. Y our r oom lay out or personal pref erence will di ctate which installation location y ou select.
13 Positioning your projector English Obtaining a pr efer r ed pr ojected imag e siz e The distance fr om the projector lens to the screen, the zoom setting, and the video format each factors in the pr ojected image size. This projector is equipped with a mo vable lens.

16 Positioning your projector English Shifting the projection lens The lens shift contr ol pro vides flexibility for installi ng y our projector . It allows the pr ojec tor to be positioned off t he center of the screen. The lens shift is expressed as a per centage of the pr ojected image height or width.
17 Connecting with video equipment English Connecting with video equipment Y ou can connect the projector to any type of video e quipment, such as a VCR, D VD pla yer , digital tuner , cable or satellite decoder , video ga me console or digital ca mera.
18 Connecting with video equipment English Connecting component-video/RGB de vices Connect your RGB sour ce (D VD play er or HD set top box) to the RBGHV inputs. Y ou can also use a BNC- type component cable to connect your video devices. The audio connect ions are pr ovided for informational purposes only .
19 Connecting with video equipment English Connecting a computer Connect the projector to a computer with a V GA cable or a DB15HD-to-5 x BNC cable . Many la ptops do not turn on their external video ports when connect ed to a projector . Usually a key combination like Fn + F3 or CR T/LCD key turns the e xternal display on/o ff.
20 Using the projector English Using the pr ojector Preparations 1. Plug in and turn all of the connected equipment on. 2. If not already in, plug the supplied po wer cable into the A C inlet on the rear of the projector . 3. Plug the pow er cable into a wall pow er outlet and turn the wall switch on.
21 Using the projector English Selecting an input sour ce The pr ojector can be conn ected to multiple equipment at the same time. When the projector is f irst turned on, it will attempt to reconnect wi th the input source which was in use when the projector was last sh ut down.
22 Using the projector English Using the menus The pr ojector is equipped with multilingual On -Screen Displa y (OSD) menus for making various adjustments and settings. Below is the o verview of the OSD menu. T o use the OSD menus, please set the OSD m enu to your familiar language.
23 Using the projector English Utilizing the passw ord function For security purposes and to help pre vent unauthorized use, the projector includes an option for setting up passw ord security . The passwor d can be set through the On-Screen Displa y (OSD) menu.
24 Using the projector English Entering the passw ord r ecall procedur e 1. Mak e sure the Input Pass word page is displa yed on scr een. Press and hold PRESET MODE on the projector or MODE/ENTER on the remote contr ol for 3 seconds. The pr ojector will displa y a coded number on the scr een.
25 Using the projector English Adjusting the pr ojected imag e Adjusting the pr ojection angle There are four adjuster feet on the bo ttom of the pr ojector . These can be used if necessary to change the pr ojection angle . Scre w the feet in or out as appr opriate to aim and le vel the pr ojection angle.
26 Using the projector English Corr ecting picture distortion K eystoning occurs when the projector is not perpen d icular to the screen and is wher e the projected picture dis plays vi sible as a trapezoid shape lik e either of the follo wing: • T wo parallel sides (l eft and right, or top and bottom) but is noticeably wider on eit her side .
27 Using the projector English Using the pr eset and user modes Selecting a pr eset mode The pr ojector is preset with sev eral pre-defined pictur e modes so that you can choose one to suit y our operating envir onment and input so urce pictur e type .
28 Using the projector English Setting the User 1/User 2 mode There ar e two user -definable modes if the curr ent avai lable pic ture modes ar e not suitable for your need. Y ou can use one of the picture mode s (except the selected User mode) as a starting point and customize the settings.
29 Using the projector English Fine-tuning the pictur e quality No matter what picture mode y ou ha v e selected, you are able to f ine-tune those settings to fit every presentation purpose. Those adjustments will be sa ved to the pr eset mode you are at when y ou exit the OSD menu.
30 Using the projector English Advanced pictur e quality contr ols There ar e more advanced functi ons in the Picture -- Advanced menu to be adjusted to y our pref erence. T o sa ve the settings, just pr ess MENU on the projector or MENU/EXIT on the r emote contr ol to leav e the OSD menu.
31 Using the projector English Setting a pref erred color temperatur e T o set a preferr ed color temperature: 1. Highlight Col or T emperature and select User 1 , User 2 , or User 3 by pressing / on the pr ojector or remote contr ol. 2. Press to highlight Color T emperature User_ Fine T uning and press ENTER .
32 Using the projector English Color Manag ement In most insta llation situat ions, colo r management w il l not be necessar y , such as in classr oom, meeting ro om, or lounge room situations wher e lights rema in on, or where building external windo ws allow da ylight into the ro om.
33 Using the projector English Setting 3D Comb Filter This featur e separates composite signal to Y (br ightne ss) signal and C (color) signal, and can help pr oduce clearer and sharper images w ith correct colors in place.
34 Using the projector English 3. Letter Box ( LB ): Scales a pictur e to fit the projector’ s native resolution in its horizontal width and resize t h e pictur e’ s height to the 3/4 of the projection width.
35 Using the projector English Hiding the ima ge In order to dra w the audience's full attention to the presenter , you can use ECO BL ANK on the remote contr ol to hide the scr een image. The word " ECO BLANK " appears in the corner of the scr een while the image is hidden.
36 Using the projector English Adjusting the sound The sound adjustments made as below will ha ve an effe ct on t he projector speak er(s). Be sure y ou ha ve made a corr ect connection to the projector audio input. See "Connecting with video equipment" on page 17 for how the audio input is connected.

Press PO WER () o r OFF again. • The Po wer indicator light flashes orange and the fans run for about two mi nutes to cool the lamp .

52 Additional information English Lamp information Getting to kno w the lamp hour When the pr ojector is in operation, the duration (in hours) of lamp us age is automatically calculat ed by the built-in timer .
53 Additional information English Timing of r eplacing the lamp When the Lamp indicator lights up r ed or a message appears sugge sting it is time to replace the lamp , please install a new lamp or consult y our dealer . An old lamp ma y cause a malfunction in the projector and in some instances the lamp ma y explode .
