13 Overview R emote Control Notes o n Remo te Co ntro l O per at ion Q Mak e sure that ther e is nothing between the remote c ontrol and the IR sensor on the p rojector that might obstruct the infrared beam. Q The effective range of the remote con trol is up to 8 meters from the fro nt of the projector or 8 meters from the rear of the pr ojector .
14 Connecting Co nnecting When c onnecting any signal sourc e to the pr ojector , be sure to: 1. T urn off all equipment before making any c onnections. 2. U se the correct signal cables for each sourc e. 3. Ensure the cables ar e firmly inserted. 4. Connect all audio signals to exte rnal speakers.

Mak e sure the P ower lig ht is orange w hen power is applied and the main AC po wer switch is turn ed on. 2. Press and hold the PO WER ON/OFF key on t he remo te contr ol or the POWER k e y on the project or for ONE second to turn the pr ojector on.
19 Basic Operation Selecting As pect Ratio Q Select an aspect ratio to suit the format of the video sig nal. There are fi ve aspec t ratios a v ailable: 1. 16:9 : Scales an image so that it is display ed in the ce nter of the scr een with a 16:9 aspect r atio.

22 Menus U sing the M enus The projector is equipped with on-screen display (OSD) menus for making various adjustments and s ettings. There are six diff erent menu langu ages. Refer t o see "INST ALLA TION Men u" on page 26 for more details.
23 Menus 1. BRIGHTNESS : Adjusts the pictur e brig htness to values between 0 and 60. The hig her the value, the brig hter the picture. And lowe r the setting , darker the picture . 2. CONTRAST : Adjusts the picture c ontrast to values between 0 and 30.

ASPECT : There are fi ve aspect ratios that can be selected for different v ideo signal: ■ 16:9 : Scales an image so that it is displa yed in the cente r of the screen with a 16:9 asp ect ratio. ■ 4:3: Scales an image so that it i s display ed in the center of the screen with a 4:3 asp ect ratio.

26 Menus INST ALLA TION M enu This menu contains items necessary for installation. There are six it ems available: LANGU A GE, MIRR OR , KEYST ONE, BACK GR OUND CO L OR, OSD POSITION and P A T TERN. 1. LANGU A GE : There are six languages that can be selected for the menus: English, Frenc h, German, Italian, T raditional Chinese and K orean.
27 Menus 5. OSD POSITION : The position of the On Screen Displa y can be adjusted in both ve rtical and hori zont al directions. The available adjustment ran ge of the vertical position depends o n the type of the input signal th at is being displayed.
28 Menus 3. GAMMA: Adjusts the c olor saturation of mid color tones wi thin the image. Can be used to displayed fine detail more clearly unde r some conditions. ■ CINEMA: Suitable for viewing mov ies in a dark room. ■ VIDEO: Suitable for vi ewing v ideo programs in a dar k room.
