Introduc tion 13 Re mote control effe ctive range Infra-Red (IR) re mote contr ol sensor is located on the front of the pr ojector . The remote control must be held at an angl e within 30 deg rees perp endicular to the projector's IR remote control sensors to function correctly .
Positioning your project or 14 P ositioning your pr ojecto r Choosing a location Y our projector is desi gned to be in stalled i n one of four possible installation locations: Y our room lay out or personal prefer ence will dictate which installation location y ou select.
Positioning your project or 15 O btaining a preferr ed project ed image size The distanc e from the project or lens to the screen, the z oom setting, and the video format each factor s in the project ed image size. For example, if you ar e using an 120-inch scr een, the reco mmended projection distance is 715 mm and the ve rtical offset is 320 mm.

Connection 17 • Many notebooks do not turn on their external video ports when connected to a projector . Usually a key combo li ke FN + F3 or CRT/LCD key turns the external display on/off . Locate a function key labeled CRT/LCD or a function key with a mo nitor symbol on the notebook.

Operation 23 Us i n g t h e m e n u s The pr ojector is equipped with On-Scr een Displa y (OSD) menus fo r making various adjustments and settings. Below is the overview of the OSD menu. The following example descr ibes how to set the OSD language. 1.
Operat ion 24 Securing the projecto r U sing a securit y cable lock The pr ojector has to be in stalled in a saf e place t o pr event theft. Othe rwise, purchase a lock, such as the K ensington lo ck, to secure th e projector . Y ou can l ocate a Kensington lock slo t on the rear side of the projecto r .
Operation 25 If y ou forget the passw ord If the password functio n is activated, y ou will be asked to ent er the six-digit passwor d eve ry time you turn on the projector . If y ou enter the wrong password, the password e rror message a s pictured to the right displays lasting for 3 seconds, and the INPUT P ASSW ORD message follows.
Operat ion 26 i. If the password is correct, the OSD menu retur ns to the Security Settings page. Pr ess to highl ight Power On Lo ck and press / to se lect Off . Y ou w ill not have to enter the password next time when tur ning on the projector . Press to highlig ht Splash Screen Lock and pr ess / to select Off .

Operat ion 28 About the aspect ratio • In the pictures below , the black portions are inactive areas and the white portions are active areas. • OSD menus can be displayed on those unused black areas. 1. Maintenance 62 T iming of r eplacing the lamp When the Lamp indicator lights up r ed or a message ap pears suggesting it is time to replac e the lamp , please install a new lamp or c onsult yo ur dealer . An old lamp may cause a malfunction in th e proj ector and in some instan ces the lamp may e xplode.
Maintenance 63 R eplacing the lamp • T o reduce the risk of electrical shock, al ways turn the projector off and disconnect the power cord before changing the lamp. • T o reduce the risk of severe burns, allow the projector to cool for at least 45 minutes before replacing the lamp.
