Introduction 13 Infra-Red (IR) remote contr ol sensor is located on the front of the projector . The remote control must be held at an angle within 15 degrees perpendicular to the pr ojector's IR remote contr ol sensor to function correctly . The distance between the remote control and the sensor should not exceed 8 meters ( ~ 26 feet).
Introduction 14 Replacing the remote contr ol batter y 1. T o open the battery cover , turn the remote contr ol ove r to view its back, push on the finger grip on the cover and slide it up in the direction of the arrow as illustrated. The cover will slide off.

Connection 24 Connecting an S-Video/co mposite sour ce de vice Examine your Video sour ce device to determine if it has an unused S-Video/composite output jack a vailable: • If it has both jacks, use the S-Video output jack for connection as the S-Video terminal pr ovides better picture qualit y than the Video terminal.
Operation 25 Operation Star ting up the pr ojector 1. Plug the power cor d into the projector and into a power outlet. T urn on the power outlet switch (where f itted). Check that the PO WER indicator light on the projector lights orange after power has been applied.
Operation 26 4. If the pr ojector is activated for the first time, select your OSD language following the on- screen instructions. 5. If you ar e prompted for a passw ord, pr ess the arro w ke ys to enter a six digit passwor d. See "Utilizing the password function" on page 30 for details.
Operation 27 Auto-adjusting the imag e In some cases, you ma y ne ed to optimize the picture quality . T o do this, press AUTO on the projector or re mote control. Within 3 seconds, the built-in Intelligent Auto Adjustment function will re-adjust the values of Frequency and Clock to pr ovide the best picture quality .
Operation 28 Fine-tuning the imag e size and clarity 1. Adjust the pr ojected image to the size that you need us ing the zoom ring. 2. Then sharpen the image by r otating the focu s ri ng. Corr ecting k eystone K eystoning r efers to the s ituation wher e the proj ected image is noticeably wider at either the top or bottom.
Operation 29 Using the menus The projector is equipp ed with On-Screen Displa y (OSD) menus for making various adjustment s and settings. Below is the ov erview of the OSD menu. The following example describes ho w to set the OSD language. 1. Press MENU/EX IT on the pr ojector or remote contr ol to turn the OSD menu on.
Operation 30 Securing the pr ojector Using a security cable lock The projector has to be installed in a safe pl ace to prev ent theft. Otherwise, purchase a lock, such as the K ensington lock, to secur e the projector . Y ou can locate a K ensington lock slot on the rear side of the pr ojector .
Operation 31 If y ou forget the passw ord If the passw ord function is activated, yo u will be asked to enter the six-digit password e ver y time you turn on the projector .
Operation 32 6. Y ou have s uccessfully assigned a ne w passwor d to the projector . Re member to enter the new passw ord next time th e projector is star ted.
Operation 33 • The input signal type effects the opti ons availab le for the Picture Mode. See "Selecting a picture mode" on pag e 35 for d etai ls. • For best displa y picture r esults, you should se lect and use an input signal which outputs at this resolution.
Operation 34 The picture can only be na vigated after the pict ure is magnified. Y ou can further magnify the picture while sear ching for details. Selecting the aspect ratio The 'aspect ratio' is the ratio of the image wi dth to the image height.
Operation 35 Optimizing the imag e Selecting a pictur e mode The projector is pr eset with several pr edefined picture modes so that y ou can choose one to suit your operating environment and input signal picture type. T o select an operation mod e that suits your need, you can follow one of the following steps.
Operation 36 Using W all Color In the situation wher e y ou are projecting on to a colored surface such as a pai nted wall which ma y not be white , the Wall Color feature can help correct th e projected pictur e’ s color to prev ent possible color difference betw een the source and pr ojected pictures.
Operation 37 *About color t emperatur es: There ar e many different sh ades that are cons ider ed to be "white" for various purposes. One of the common methods of r epresenting white color is known as the “color temperature”. A white color with a low color temperature appears to be reddish white.
Operation 38 Please ref er to the illustration to the right for how the colors relate to each other . For example, if you select Red and set its range at 0, only pur e red in the projected picture will be selected. Incr easing its range will include red close to yellow and r ed close to magenta.
Operation 39 Setting the pr esentation timer The presentation timer can indicate the pr esentation time on the screen to help you achiev e better time management when giving presentations.
Operation 40 1. Go to the SYSTEM SETUP: Basic > Presentation Timer menu and highlight Off . Press MODE/ENTER . A confirmation message displa ys. 2. Highlight Yes and pr ess MODE/ENTER to confirm. Y ou will see the message “Timer is Off!” displa ying on the scr een.
Operation 41 Hiding the imag e Press th e Eco Blank button from pr ojector or remote control to turn off the image f or a period of time with up to 70% lamp power sa ving. Press any k ey on the projector or remote contr ol to restore the image. The w ord " Eco Blank " a ppears at the screen while the image is hidden.
Operation 42 Operating in a high altitude en vir onment W e recommend you use the High Alti tude Mode when your en vironment is 1500 m – 3000 m abov e sea level, and ambient temperatur e is between 0°C–35°C. China r egion only applies at altitude up to 20 00m.
Operation 43 T urning off the P o wer on/off ring tone T o turn o ff the ring tone: 1. Repeat steps 1-2 in Muting the sound section. 2. Highlight P o wer on/off Ring T one and select Off . The only wa y to change P o wer on/off ring tone is setting On or Off here.
Operation 44 Use teaching template Making writing on the board easier for teache rs, you can use build-in template b y OSD or rem o t e c o nt ro l. Open the OSD menu and go to the DISPLAY > Teaching Template . Choose Blackboar d/ Whitebo ard > Off / Letter Formation/ W orksh eet / Coordinat e Chart .

Operation 46 Contr olling the pr ojector through a LAN en vir onment Network Settings allow you to manage th e pr ojector from a computer using a w eb bro wser when the computer and the projector are properl y connected to the same local area ne twork.
Operation 47 Wireless connection 1. Connect the BenQ wir eless dongle (optio nal) to the TYPE-A input jack of the pr ojector . 2. Highlight Wir eless LAN in SYSTEM SETU P: Advanced > Net work Settin gs menu and pr ess MODE/ENTER . 3. Make s ure the Status is Connect .
Operation 48 Contr olling the pr oject or r emotely through a w eb br o wser Once yo u ha ve configur ed the LAN settings, yo u can find the IP ad dress f or the projector in the bottom of the network scr een. Y ou can us e any computer that is on the same local area netw ork to control the pr ojector .
Operation 49 3. Click Download to sa ve Q Presenter softwar e on your computer . Y ou can also link to the web pag e control fr om Q Presenter > Settings > Control pr ojector via web pag e on page 60 . 4. Execute the pr o gram installation. 5. Open Q Pr esenter , search and connect a n etwork displa y .
Operation 50 The Displa y Setting page allows you to operat e the pr ojector as if y ou were using the OSD menus. Thes e functions ar e some useful menu settings. The Picture Setting page allows you to manage the projector as if you wer e using the PICTURE menu.
Operation 51 The Information page displa ys the info rmation and status of this projector . The Confer ence Contro l page allows you to co ntrol computer’ s displa y sta tus of all the computers linked to this projector . The Crestr on page is only a vailable when you are on a Wir ed LAN network.
Operation 52 i. These buttons function the same as the ones on the OSD menus or remote control. See "2. PICTURE" on page 71 and "Remote contr ol" on page 14 for details. The Menu button can also be used to go back to previous OSD menu, e xit and sav e menu settings.
Operation 53 The tools page allows y ou to manage the proj ector , configure the LAN contr ol settings and secure access of r emote networ k operation on this projector . i. Y ou can name the projector , keep track of its location and the person in charge of it.
Operation 54 The info page dis pla ys the information and status of this projector . i. Pr ess exit to go back to the Crestr on remote network operation page. The Admin page allows y ou to enter Basic, Wired LAN, Wireless LAN and Mail pages once the passw ord is entered.
Operation 55 The Basic page allo ws you to change the passw ord and select connected pers ons. The number of connected persons ma y affect the network displa y performance.
Operation 56 The Mail page a llows you to send al ert e-mail to your ITS administrator . Y ou can first tr y the Mail T e st function to check if the Aler t Mail works.
Operation 57 Displa ying ima g e thr ough Q Presenter The Q Pr esenter is an a pplication running on the host PC . It connects to an available network displa y and transfers the desktop co ntents to the network displa y via local network connection. Be sure to turn off other vir tual network control programs before using Q Pr e senter .

Operation 61 Pr ojecting MX661 QPresenter App MX661 QPresenter is an easy-to-use app which en ables your mobile de vices to project the displa y to projector . Y ou can remote contr ol it through Wi-Fi netw ork, and displa y your photos. Furthermore, it can also display the w eb browser content.

If projection login code pop-up message displa ys, enter the 4-digit code in the upper right corner of the Netw ork page . ii. Manage Files provide users to manages files when disconnected.
