Connection 20 Connecting an HDMI device Y ou should use a n HDMI cable when making c onnection bet ween the pr ojector and HDMI devices. T o conn ec t th e proj ec tor to an HDM I de v ice: 1. T ake an HDMI cable and connec t one end to the HDMI output socket of the vide o dev ice.

Operat ion 24 Operation Star ting up the projecto r 1. Plug the power cord into the projector and into a wall socket. T urn on the wall sock et switch (where fitted) . Check that the PO WER indicato r light on the projector ligh ts orange after pow er has been applied.
Operation 25 Us i n g t h e m e n u s The pr ojector is eq uipped with On-Scree n Display (O SD) menus fo r making various adjustments and settings. Below is the overview of the OSD menu. T o use the OSD menus, please set them to your familiar language fir st.
Operat ion 26 U tilizing the passwor d function For security purposes and to help prev ent un authorized use , the project or includes an option for setting up password securit y . Th e password can be set through the On-Screen Display (OSD) menu. For details of the OSD menu op erati on, please refer to "U sing the menus" on page 25 .
Operation 27 Entering the passw ord r ecall procedur e 1. Press and hold AUTO on th e project or or remot e control fo r 3 seconds. The project or will display a coded number on the screen . 2. W rite down the numbe r and turn off your projector . 3. Seek help fr om the local BenQ serv ice c enter t o decode the number.
Operat ion 28 S w itching input signal The projector can be connected to multiple devices at the same time. However , it can only display one full screen at a time . Be sur e the Qui ck Auto Search function in the SOURCE menu is On (which is the default o f this projec tor) if you want the proj ector to automati cally sea rch for the sig nals.
Operation 29 A djusting the project ed image A djusting the pr ojection angle The projector is equipp ed with 1 quick- release adjuster foot and 1 rear adjuster foot. Thes e adjusters change t he image height and proj ection angle. T o adjust the pr ojector: 1.
Operat ion 30 Correcting k e ysto ne K eystoning r efers to the situation where the pr ojected image is notic eably wider at either the top or bottom. It occurs when the projector is not p erpend icular to the screen.
Operation 31 6. T o reduce size of the picture , press Mode / En t er to switch back to the zoom in/out functionality , and press AUTO to restore the picture to its original size. Y o u can also press r epeatedly until it is r estor ed to the original size.
Operat ion 32 4. 16:9 : Scales an image so that it is displa yed in the center of the screen with a 16:9 aspect ratio. This is most suitable for images whic h are alread y in a 16:9 aspect, like high definition TV , as it displays them without aspect alteration.
Operation 33 Setting the User 1/User 2 mode There are two user-definable mode s if the cur rent available pic ture modes are not suitable for yo ur need. Y ou can use one of the picture modes (ex cept the User 1 / User 2 ) as a starting point and customize the settings.
Operat ion 34 Adj u s ti n g C o l or High light Color in the PICTURE menu an d adjust the values by pressing / on the proj ec tor or re mo te co nt rol. Lower setting produces less saturated colors. If the setting is too high, colors on the image will be overpo wering, which makes the image unr ealistic.
Operation 35 Only in permanent installations with controlled li ghting levels such as boardr ooms, lecture theaters, o r home theat ers, should c olor management be conside red. Color ma nagement pro vides fine color c ontrol adjustment to allo w for mor e accurate color reprod uction, should you require it.
Operat ion 36 Setting the presentation timer Presentation timer can i ndicate the presentation time on the screen to help y ou achieve better time management when givi ng presentations.

Operat ion 38 Locking contr ol keys With the control keys on the projector locked, you can prevent your pr ojector settings from being cha nged accidentally (by chi ldren, for example). When the Panel Key Lo ck is on, no contr ol keys on the project or will operate e xc ept Power .
Operation 39 Oper ating in a hig h altitude en v iro nment W e recommend you use the High Altitude Mode when your en v ironment is between 1500 m –3000 m above sea level, and te mperature is between 0°C–35°C. Do not use the High Altit ude Mode if your alti tude is between 0 m and 1500 m and temperature is between 0°C and 35°C.

Maintenance 50 Lamp information Getting to kno w the lamp hour Whe n the proj ector is in operation, the du ration (in hours) of lam p usage is aut omatically calculated by the built-in timer .
Maintenance 51 T iming of r eplacing the lamp When the Lamp indicator lights up r ed or a message appears sugg esting it is time to r eplace the lamp , please install a new lamp o r consult y our dealer . An old lamp may cause a malfunction in th e project or and in some i nstances the lamp may e xplode.
Maintenance 52 R eplacing the lamp • If lamp replacement is performed while the p r ojector is susp ended up side-down from the ceiling, make sure that no one is underneath the lamp socket to avoid any possible injury or damage to the human eyes caused by fractured lamp.

U se the handle to slo wly pull the lamp out o f the projector . • Pulling it too quickly may cause the lamp to break and scatter broken glass in the projector . • Do not place the lamp in locations where water might splash on it, children can reach it, or near flammable materials.
