5 MICROW A VE OVEN SAFETY Observe all governing codes and ordinances. A 120 V olt, 60 Hz, AC only , 15 or 20 amp fused electrical supply is requir ed. (A time-delay fuse is recommended.) It is recommended that a separate circuit serving only this appliance be provided.
6 Microwaves pass through most glass, paper , and plastics without heating them so food absorbs the ener gy . Microwaves bounce off metal containers so food does not absorb the ener gy . How your microwave oven works Microwave ovens ar e safe. Microwave ener gy is not hot.

All you have to do is touch the necessary Command Pad. The following is a list of all the Command and Number Pads located on the control panel.

Using Y our Microwave Oven This section gives you instructions for operating each function. Please read these instructions carefully . Using the safety lock The safety lock prevents unwanted use of the microwave oven by disabling the control panel Command Pads.
Using the bi-level cooking rack The Bi-Level Cooking Rack gives you extra space when cooking in more than one container at the same time. The metal rack can be turned upside-down to help fit taller containers on the bottom of the oven.
• T o see the time of day while the timer is counting down, touch CLOCK. • If you want to use other command pads while the timer is counting down, touch TIMER OFF to cancel the Minute T imer . 1. T ouch TIMER SET . 2. Enter time to be counted down.
14 USING YOUR MICROW A VE OVEN Cooking at different cook powers For best results, some recipes call for different cook powers. The lower the cook power , the slower the cooking. Each number from 1 to 10 stands for a dif ferent percentage of cook power .

16 USING YOUR MICROW A VE OVEN Weight conversion chart Y ou ar e probably used to food weights as being in pounds and ounces that are fractions of a pound (for example, 4 ounces equals 1 ⁄ 4 pound). However , in order to enter food weight in AUTO DEFROST , you must specify pounds and tenths of a pound.
17 USING YOUR MICROW A VE OVEN Defrosting tips • When using AUTO DEFROST , the weight to be entered is the net weight in pounds and tenths of pounds (the weight of the food minus the container).

20 USING YOUR MICROW A VE OVEN Using SENSOR BAKED POT A TO Cooking with BAKED POT A TO lets you bake one or several potatoes by touching one pad. NOTES: • Before baking, pierce potato with fork several times. Do not cover . • After baking, let stand for 5 minutes.
21 USING YOUR MICROW A VE OVEN Using SENSOR VEGET ABLE Cooking with VEGET ABLE lets you heat common microwave-prepared vegetables without needing to program times and Cook Powers. VEGET ABLE has preset cook powers for 3 food categories: Number 1 to select Fresh, Number 2 for Frozen, or Number 3 for Canned.
22 Microwave cooking tips Amount of food • If you increase or decr ease the amount of food you prepar e, the time it takes to cook that food will also change. For example, if you double a recipe, add a little more than half the original cooking time.
23 CARING FOR YOUR MICROW A VE OVEN Using aluminum foil Metal containers should not be used in a microwave oven. Ther e are, however , some exceptions. If you have purchased food which is prepackaged in an aluminum foil container , refer to the instructions on the package.
24 Caring for the filters The grease filters should be removed and cleaned often, at least once a month. NOTE: If your microwave hood combination is installed to recirculate air , the charcoal filter (available from your designated service company , Part No.

27 ANSWERS No. If you remove or turn over the turntable, you will get poor cooking results. Dishes used in your oven must fit on the turntable. Y ou can use a rack only if the rack is supplied with your microwave oven. If you use a rack not supplied with the microwave oven, you can get poor cooking performance and/or arcing.
