5 Compass Button • T o select Compass Mode. • T o calibrate compass. Day Button • T o select “Day of Week” display . Time Button • T o display digital time in hour-minute or seconds. • T o enter th e Time Setti ng Mode . Date Button • T o select “Date and Month” display .
6 Setting the Analog Watch 1. T o set the analog time, gently pull out the crown to Position 2. 2. Second hand will stop and digital time will flash. 3.
7 Setting the Digital Time and Calendar 1. Hold down the Time Button until the digital seconds flash. 2. Press the Compass Button to scroll thr ough minutes, hours, year , month and date as well as date format (both month and date flashing), time format (12 hour to 24 hour) and seconds.
8 Day of the Week Display 1. Press the Day Button to switch on the Day of the Week display . 2. The display will show for 2 seconds, and will turn off automatically .
9 Compass Display 1. Press the Compass Button to switch on the compass display . 2. The compass bearing in degrees and an arrow indicator under the Wenger cross will display .
10 Calibrating the Compass 1. See “Magnetic Declination by Major City” section to determine declination angle and refer to p.12-14. 2. Hold down the Compass Button for 3 seconds to select setting display .
11 Taking a Compass Measuremen t 1. The watch must be parallel with the horizon for accurate reading. 2. Point the Wenger cross towar d the object or direction you intend to go and press the Compass Button. 3. The compass bearing of the target will show in degrees: 0° = North 90° = East 180° = South 270° = West.
12 Compass Bearing vs. Compass Direction Compass Bearing – the horizontal direction of an object as measured by the observer in degrees. Compass Direction – the path given by a compass using the four cardinal points including North, South, East & West.
13 • For serious compass users or people who intend to perform accurate navigation, the compass must be adjusted to include the magnetic declination. This watch includes a compensation setting for Magnetic Declination. See the “Calibrating the Compass” section on p.
14 Magnetic Declination Compensation • Compensate for an object’ s bearing by subtracting westerly magnetic dec lin atio n or add ing e aste rly m agne tic d ecli nat ion wi th the m agn etic b ear ing. Example 1 - Westerly magnetic declination = 23°, Magnetic bearing = 323°.
