8 2 GETTING STARTED 2-1 Connecting the Power Adapter The gTablet com es with a universal AC-DC adapter. T he allowable input voltage of adapter is from 100V to 240V. Follow the belo w steps to connect the adapter: 1. Connect the piece with the plugs to the power cord.
9 2-2 Setting Up Your gTablet Turning the gT ablet ON for the first time You must fully charge your g Tablet before using for the first time. W hen fully charged, a gree n indicator light will display on the gT ablet ( shown in gTablet Ke y Map section ).
10 1 2 1 2 Location, Date and T ime 2. Set up your Locat ion, Date and Tim e (1). W hen complete, tap o n “Next” (2). Setti ng Up Your Wireless N etwork – Wi -Fi and Netw orks 3. After setting up your Location, Date and Tim e, y ou will be prom pted to set up your wireless net work , and the following screen wil l appear.
11 The available networks wil l automatically be d isplayed. If you r network is visible, select y our net work. Y ou will be prompted to input y ou r password .
12 2-3 ON, OFF, and Sleep Turning the gT ablet On In order to turn the gTablet ON from an Off state, you must hold the power button for about 2 s econds.
13 3 OVER THE AIR UPDATES (OTA) The Updates app lication allows your tablet to rece ive the latest version of the tab let software. This application ru ns automatically and will always prom pt y ou before any updates are downloaded, allowing you to decline the up date.
14 Review and accept the End User License Agreem ent. W ait for download to com plete. The progress will be shown on the indicator bar. Once download is com plete, you will have the option t o “Apply Update” or “Postpon e”. Applying Update will reb oot the tablet.

SEARCH – Pres sing the search button from the Home sc reen w ill bring up t he Google search web site.

The current page nam e is displayed next to the “Hous e” logo (2). 4-2 Task Bar – Top Right At the top right are a ro w of icons displaying the s ystem time, Alerts, current battery power r emaining, and your wireless connection.
17 5-1 Quick Launch Bar On the right of the H ome screen, there are 5 icons (visible from each of the 5 Home s creens). These include web, m ail , m enu, settings, and Dashboard (1). By tappin g on these icons, y ou will in stantly be taken to the application or f eature.
18 Long tap – the long tap is done b y touching the sc reen and holding your finger sti ll on a n icon for about 2 seconds. T his action can often bri ng up different options. Menu – Long tapping on an open space on the Hom e screen will bring up a m enu option which allo ws you to add Shortcuts, W idgets, and W allpapers.
19 6-1 Dashboard Portlets – Main Window The Dashboard screen has 3 portlets t hat are customizable. These windows allow y ou to conveniently view your favorite applications. Customizing T o customize the se portlets , select an application a long the bott om of the Dashboard fr om the Applications T ask Bar.

21 Following is a quick review of the applications th at came pre-loaded on your gTablet. 7-1 News Tapping on the “N ews ” icon visible from the Home Appl ications Menu and the Dashboard, br ings up the News application in full sc reen. Here you will see short snippe ts of the current news consta ntly being updated as news is created.
22 Under settings, you can choose the “ Cat egories ” that appear at t he top of the news headline p age. Under settings, y ou can a lso customize your D ashboard portlets (1) . This application runs in the large portlet windo w of the Dashboard .
23 By tapping on th e “Advanced” tab, y ou are a ble to select how often updates for ne ws will happen. Note that the m ore frequent updates are, the more it uses up battery power. You can select bet ween 15 minutes to 1 hour intervals. 7-2 Weather Tapping on the “W eather ” icon will brin g up the Weath er page full screen.
24 Under the “P ortlets" window (1), you will selec t 3 locations using the drop down menus. Rem ember, from the Dashboard screen, you mus t drag and drop the “W eather” icon into the portlet you wish t o view the weather in. 7-3 Web Tapp ing on the “W eb” icon will bring up t he internet.
25 If you see the be low screen, then you do n ot have an internet connection. Please refer to the sect ion System Settings , u nder “ W ir eless & networks ” . By tapping on the “ Settings ” button (gear ic on) (1) at the top right of the internet page, the “W eb Settings” screen will appear .
26 7-4 Clock Tapping on the “C lock” icon will bring up the Clock, Alarm , and Timers function. Clock To set the time, touch the clock face and “Set Clock ” will appear. Select your time z one and save. The m aster time is set in the System Settings under “ Location, dat e & time ”.
27 Select the time z one b y tapping on the clock, as previousl y described. Delete the clock by tapping on the clock and selecting “Dele te”. Note the first clock on the left will act as you r prim ary clock – for example, if a cloc k is used in the D ashboard portlets screen.
28 Repeat this for as m any alarms as you wish to set b y touching the “ Alarm + ” button in the bottom left corner (shown at right). To delete an alarm , touch the face of the alarm clock you wish to cancel to bring o pen the “Set Alarm” window and tap on “Delete” .
29 You can add up to 4 t imers by tapping on the “ timer + ” button in the bottom lef t corner of the screen (sho wn at right). 7-5 Contacts Add a Contact Tapping on the “Contacts ” icon will bring up your con tact list. To add contacts, y ou can both manuall y input contacts and / or import them in from your Google mail.
30 Import Contacts Importing contacts onl y works wi th a Gmail (Google email) account similar to an Android based p hone. To im port contacts, tap on the icon sho wn at right. You will be prompted to input your Google email address and y our passwor d.
31 Note that the “Contacts ” application for the g Tablet operates in family mode. All contacts listed will be accessible b y anyone who uses the device. 7-6 Email Tapping on the “ Email” icon bring s up your email. To add an email account , tap on the “Add acc ount” button (1).

34 7-8 Grocery Tapping on the “Grocer y” icon will bring up the applicat ion. W ith the Grocery List application , you can create sev eral lists and actually set u p favorites. Tapping on the list in the background that you wish to view will bri ng it to the foreground.
35 Favorites – provid es you a list of y our mo st frequently used items and is created autom atically. Selecting an item will add it to the Grocery List on top. Find – allows you to start typing while it quickly suggests all of the options allowing y ou to s elect the item without hav ing to type the entire name.
36 Along the top left, y ou can advance days or go back using the left and right arrows as well as tap on “T oday” to instantly jum p to today ‟s date . (2) You can view y our calenda r in full screen for the Da y , W eek or Month. (3) To add an event, tap on the “+” button.
37 You will be prom pted to enter the address f or the external calendar. 7- 10 Music Tapping on the “ Music ” icon will bring up the application. You are able to buy music online usi ng the gTablet and play your music with the “Music” application.
38 3. Albums – Tapping on “A lbums” will sort your mus ic by album name enabling you to find and select music. To play a song, simply tap on the alb um, then select the s ong you wish to play. 4. Songs – Tapping on “Songs” will sort your m usic in alphabetical order by songs enabl ing you to find and select m usic.
39 Under “All Photos”, after tapping on an album (1), your album pictures will be displayed on th e page. Here, you can tap o n any single photo ( 1) and that photo will com e up almost f ull screen. In this vie w, you can easily shuffle through your album.
40 In slideshow m ode, tapping the “Sett ings” (gear icon) button will enable you to select the transition style and the spe ed. To add photos to y our Das hboard and to ad d a Picasa account, tap on the settings button in the top right corner f rom the main photo page (1).

43 Camera M ode The camera runs in still shot mode and video m ode (1). Tap on the “ camera ” button for still shot ph otos. Tap on the round b utton on the bottom right to take a picture (2). To view photos tak en, tap on the button in the top right of the screen co ntaining a sna p shot (last photo tak en) (3).
44 To view videos tak en, tap on the button in the top right of the screen containing a sna p shot (last video taken) (3). This will bring up your videos. 7- 18 ES File Explorer Tapping on the “ ES File Explorer ” ic on bring s up the file f olde r s y stem application.
45 File Folder + button (2) – allows you to select m ultiple files at once. Search files (3) – t apping on the search ico n brings up a search tool for searchi ng files. Using ke y words, searc h for a video / audio file or an image file such as a photo.
46 The “Slash” (/) s creen is the “sdcard” f il e folder op ened. This sc reen is also the default scree n to open up when y ou select “E S File Explorer”. DCIM – file location for all saved photos tak en from your camera as well as videos taken o n the gT ablet.
47 Tap on the record b utton to start recording your message. (1) Tap on the pla y button to play your m essage back. (2) Tap on the stop butt on to stop recording. (3) Once y ou have you r message, you can either “Use this recording” or “Discard”.
48 7- 24 Favorites Tapping on the “Favori tes” icon from the Applications Menu takes you to the Viewsonic web site. Here y ou will f ind valuable inform ation an d link s that improve your ex perience such as im portant applications to download, additional m arketplace resources, et c.
49 2. Search the available app lications b y category, or by most popular, or b y price, o r Free Apps, etc. 3. After selecting the application you wish to download , tap on download. 4. From the download s creen, select “download to PC”. 5. From the Home sc reen, tap on the “Alerts” icon i n the top corner next to th e clock.
50 5. Once you are done tra nsferring files, tap “Turn off USB storage” on the g Tablet. 6. To locate y our files, go to the appropriate appl ication in the applications m enu – Videos, Photos, or Music a nd open up the application. Micro SD Card 1.
51 5. Select the file y ou wish to transfer to your gT ablet. Tap on the file and hold for m ore than 2 seconds. A screen will pop up, tap on “Copy”. 6. Tap on the “hom e” button to bring y ou back to the “ sd card” screen. 7. At the “sdcard” sc reen, tap on the “m enu” button on the top task bar.
52 Alphabetical Keyboard – UPPERC A SE T ouching this same button aga in, which now reads “a bc” , will bring back the alph abetical ke y bo ard instead of the num erical (3). W hile i n the numeric al / symbol keyboard, y ou can touch the up arrow button (1) and additional s y m bols (4) will a ppear .
53 11 SYSTEM SETTINGS To get to “Sy s tem Settings”, touch the Settings icon from either application m enu. 11 -1 Status Provides status on the f ollowing: Wi -Fi – shows y our signal s trength and the nam e of the wireless device you are connecte d to.
54 Airplane mode – D isables all wireless connect ions in accordance with airplane regulations . Wi -Fi – T urn your wireless connection On or Off. Wi -Fi Settings – Manage your wireless net w ork settings, add a network, and det ect a network .
55 11 -3 Sound Allows user to m anage audio and sounds on th e gTablet. Silent mode – m akes all sounds except m edia & alarms silent. Audible selection – plays a sound when touch ing screen or making selections . Volume – control m edia and notification volum e.
56 11 - 5 Family A ccounts Manage account setti ngs and profiles for multiple users . Add family member – select to add a fam ily mem ber to the profiles b y adding the mem ber as a new contact. Select from contacts – adds a new fam ily mem ber by selecting from an existing contact.
57 SD card Note the micro SD card does not ship with the gTablet . SD card – Shows total and available spac e on external SD card. Unmount SD card – allo w s f or safe removal of card. Once removed, you will not be able to s ave / store or access any data or files.
58 W A RNING: Selecting “Factor y data reset” wi ll erase all data like Contacts and Email. Data saved on the internal storage will not be lost. 59 Tap „n Tap W estern Keyboard – screen allo ws user to m anage a nd select keyboard opti ons including play sounds on k ey press, auto capitalize, quick fixes correcting commonl y typed m istakes, show suggestions, and auto -complete.
60 Advanced Batter y use – opens a list of applications and operating system c o m ponents y ou have used si nce last connected to a power source. This setting shows the applicat ions in order of highest to lo west amount of po w er used. Select an a pplication to review addit ional details about power use, an d make adjustments where a vailable.
61 The USB card can o nly be inserted in one orientat ion. Forc ing the card in the wrong direction ma y result in dam age. 12-2 Connect to PC The gT ablet is designe d with a mini-US B port which allows you to connect th e unit to a PC. This feature enables you to downlo ad files such as, mus ic, photos, vi deo, etc.
62 Place the gT ablet in carrying case to protect it from dirt, water, shock and scratches before tr aveling. DO NOT drop or place heavy objects on the LCD Screen. DO NOT scratch the LCD Screen with fingernails or hard objects. Use a soft and lint -free cloth to wipe your gTabl et .
63 14 SAFETY PRECAUTIONS 1. DO NOT press or touch the LCD Screen or place items on the screen which will scratch. 2. DO NOT expose the gTablet to dirt y, dusty, or moist environments. 3. DO NOT expose the gTablet to strong m agnetic or electrical fields.
