Unpack the Parts Remove the bottom heat shield strapped to the top of the stove and all loose parts from the firebox and the ash pan.

If the ash pan is nearly full, empty the pan. Before replacing the ash pan, clear away any ash that may have spilled over the sides and back of the pan.
