Firs t the alkaline deterg ent with softener (compartmen t II ) is added to the wash and the suds are heated up to 40 °C.

4 User settings 30 4.2 Time/Date The time and date mu st be reset if the app liance has been di sconnected from the mains for a l onger period of time (ab out 5 weeks). 4 User settings 31 4.3 Rinsing There are 5 diff erent settings for ri nsing intensity. «Standard» • Normal wa ter level «More water» • The water level is increa sed by 1–3 cm dur ing main wash and each rinse cycle. «+1 rinse» • An extra rinse cycl e is added to each prog ramme.
4 User settings 32 4.4 Soft water The programmes can be adj usted for use wi th very soft water (e.g. in Ti cino). The slightly reduce d wash action preve nts excessive foaming. Since the detergent does not rinse out as well with soft water, the amount of water used for rinsing is increased sl ightly and an extra rinse cycle is added.
4 User settings 33 4.5 Spin speed Each programme and combination of programmes is ass igned an optimum spin speed at the factory. This can be adjusted to suit individual nee ds. Setting ma ximum spin sp eed ➤ Hold the button depressed for 5s e c o n d s .
4 User settings 34 4.6 Hygiene recommendation It is common nowa days to select programmes with temperatures belo w 60 °C in order to save energy. These achiev e perfectly good resul ts with lightly soiled every day washing.
4 User settings 35 4.7 Childproof lock The childproof lock i s to prevent children a ccidentally starti ng or stopping a programme. If the childproof lock is on, a programme can only be started by pressing two buttons simultaneously. Switching the c hildproof lock on / off ➤ Hold the button depressed for 5s e c o n d s .

38 5 Washing Preparing the ap pliance ➤ Ensure that the foreign body trap 1 is sitting properly. ➤ Plug the appliance in at the mains or tur n the wall switch on. – The appliance switches on. ➤ Turn the water tap on. ➤ Press the button to open the appliance door.
5 Washing 39 Loading the appliance ➤ Load dry washing (max. 8 kg). • If washing normally s oiled whites and coloureds, fill the washing drum. • If washing heavily soiled whites and coloureds, fill the washing drum max.
5 Washing 40 5.1 Adding washing detergent ➤ Pull the detergent dispense r drawer out as far as it will go. Powder detergent If using powder detergen t, flap 1 in compartment II must be open. ➤ Lift flap 1 and push back. Liquid detergent If using liquid detergent, flap 1 in compartment II must be closed.
5 Washing 41 Detergent dosage The amount of deter gent required depends on the degree of soiling a s well as the wash load, the ha rdness of the water and the product being used.
5 Washing 42 Fabric conditioner Do not fill with fabric cond itioner past the «MAX» mark. Do not use fabric conditioner if drying th e washing in a tumble dryer.
5 Washing 43 5.2 Programme selection «Press and go» A main programme can be s tarted at the press of a single button. Al l the necessary settings for the progra mme are provided automatically. Select or deselect any additional programmes or functi ons by pressing the relevant buttons.

5 Washing 47 Selectin g delayed sta rt ➤ Immediately after se lecting a programme, hold th e button depressed or press button repeatedly until the desire d programme end time (max. 24 hours) appears in the gra phic display. – The graphic display go es dark.
5 Washing 48 Opening the appliance door during oper ation The appliance door can onl y be opened if the water level and temperature are still low and there is no spinning in progress. As long as the indi cator light for the button is illuminated, the appliance door can be opened .
5 Washing 49 5.4 Programme selection with childproof lock activated How to turn the childproof lock on/off is described in User settings . ➤ Close the app liance door. – I n the graphic di splay appears: – The indicator lights for the programme buttons flash.
5 Washing 50 5.5 End of programme Loosening up the washing Shortly before the end of the programme, the washing is loosened up. This takes about 1–2 minutes. If steam an ti -crease has been selected, the loosening-up p eriod is extended to about 60 minutes to prevent further creasing.
5 Washing 51 With dis play / ➤ With one of the next wash cycles carry o ut a wash with at le ast 60 °C. Or ➤ Remove washing. ➤ Press the button 4×. – The programme «appliance hygiene» starts. 5.6 End of the wash day ➤ Clean the detergent d ispenser drawer i f necessary.
52 6 Care and maintenance Using the correct dosage of washing detergent will automa tically clean the inside of the appliance. Immediately wi pe away all traces of washing detergent from the chrome steel with a soft cloth to avoi d staining.
6 Care and maintenance 53 6.3 Emergency draining In the event of a blocked water outlet or drai n pump, a malfunction or a power failure, if there is wa ter still in the appliance it must be draine d off as follows: ➤ Open drain tr ay 2 by pressing in the bottom area.
6 Care and maintenance 54 6.4 Cleaning the fo reign body trap The foreign body trap 1 must be periodically cleaned of any depos its. ➤ Drain off any res idual water, see Emergency draining . ➤ Then turn the foreign body trap 1 anti-clockwise and remove.
55 7 Trouble-shooting This section lists faults that can be so lved simply by following the instructions given. If anoth er fault is displayed or the fault cannot be re medied, plea se call Customer Services.

7 Trouble-shooting 58 … appears Possible cause Solution • Various situations can lead to an «F» error message. ➤ Cancel the err or message by pressing the button. ➤ Switch off the power supply for about 1m i n u t e . ➤ Switch the power sup ply back on again and select a new programme.

7 Trouble-shooting 60 … / appears … the programme takes signif icantly longe r than indicated … appears Possible cause Solution • No wash cycle ha s taken place at a temperature of at least 60 °C over a long period of time. ➤ With one of the next wash cycles car ry out a wash with at least 60 °C.
7 Trouble-shooting 61 … appears … the washing is not spinning or is not being spun properly Possible cause Solution • Selected programme is intended for a reduced washing load. If there are too many articles , heating and possibly also th e rinsing will be extended.
7 Trouble-shooting 62 … appears … vibrating heavily when spinning Possible cause Solution • Large unbalance in the washing drum. The appliance tries to improve the distribution of the washing load. The fi nal spin is extended. ➤ Wash large and s mall items together to reduce the possibil ity of unb alanced load s forming.
7 Trouble-shooting 63 … at the end of the programme, the appliance door does not ope n when the button is pres sed … water sounds are hear d at the end of the programme w hen the washin g drum is turned by hand Possible cause Solution • The appliance door is stuck.
7 Trouble-shooting 64 … trace s of washing de tergent left be hind in the washing detergent compartment … traces of fabric conditioner or water left behind in the fabric conditione r compartment Possible cause Solution • Damp or lumpy washing detergent.
7 Trouble-shooting 65 … the water rate of flow from the circulatio n nozzle is too low … the washing load is still dry at the end of the programme and no error message is displayed Possible cause Solution • The circulation nozzle is clogged. ➤ Clean the nozzle.
7 Trouble-shooting 66 7.2 Opening the appliance door in the event of a power failure ➤ Turn off the water tap. ➤ Disconnect the ap pliance from the electricity supply. ➤ Open drain tray 2 by pressing in the bottom area. Or ➤ Remove quick operating i nstructions 1 from the wash detergent drawe r and open drai n tray 2 .
67 8 Washing tips Fabric care s ymbols To wash items correctly, please follow the fabric care symbols on the labels of the wash items. Washing detergent The wash temperature selecte d should agree with the recommend ed temper- ature range of the washing detergent to ensure the washing dete rgent is at its most effective.
8 Washing tips 68 Net curtains If washing curtains made from mixed or man-made f ibres: • Ask the retailer whether the curtains are machine washable a nd, if so, at what water temperature. • Fill the washing drum only a quarter full. • Tie up metal rollers and pl astic sliders using an open weave fabric.
8 Washing tips 69 The most efficient programme... ... for normally soiled washing at 40 °C ➤ Press the button to select the «40 °C Coloureds» programme. ➤ Press the button repeatedly until «Soiling»«normal» a ppears in the graphic display.
8 Washing tips 70 Spin speed How much energy is consumed by subs equent tumble drying depends on the spin speed set. The higher the spin speed set, the lower the level of residual moisture in the washing at the end of the programme. Automatic door opener Use the appliance wi th the automatic door opener turned on.

10 Technical data 78 10.2 VAS Vibration Absorbing System As the washing drum starts to spin, if the control system detects that the load is out of balance it will interrupt the spinni ng action once or more . The appliance tries the reby to distribute the load more evenly inside the wa shing drum.
10 Technical data 79 10.5 Automatic energy-saving stand-by The appliance is equipped with automatic stand-by to avoid consum ing energy unnecessarily. All displays go out within minutes of a programme finis hing. Energy consumptio n is reduced t o an absolu te minimum.
