5 Welcome W elcome Thank you for purchasing a Uniden Multi-Handset phone. Note: Illustrations in this manual are used for explanation purposes. Some illustrations in this manual may differ from the actual unit.
6 Installing the Phone 7 Installing the Phone Choosing the Best Location When choosing a location for your new phone, here are some important guidelines you should consider: Notes: For maximum range: Keep both the base and handset antennas free of obstruction.
6 7 Installing the Phone Installing the Battery Use only the Uniden BT -1015 rechargeable battery pack supplied with your cordless telephone. Push the battery pack connector in firmly. (You should hear it click into place.) Gently tug on the battery wires to make sure the connection is secure.
8 Installing the Phone 9 Charging the Handset Use only the Uniden PS-0007 AC adapter supplied with your cordless telephone. Place the handset in the charging cradle with the display facing forward. Connect the AC adapter to the DC IN 9V jack and route the cord through the molded wiring channel.
8 9 Installing the Phone Connecting the Base T o avoid risk of re and shock, only use the Uniden PS-0008 AC adapter with the base. Route the cord through the molded wiring channel. Connect the coiled cord to the left side of the phone and the base corded handset.
10 Installing the Phone 1 1 Connecting to the Phone Line T elephone cord T elephone wall jack DSL filter Connect the telephone cord to a telephone wall jack. Connect the telephone cord to the TEL LINE jack. Route the cord through the molded wiring channel.
10 1 1 Installing the Phone T esting the Connection Pick up the handset from the cradle and press T ALK/FLASH . Y ou should hear a dial tone, and the display should show T alk . What if I can’t hear a dial tone? Check the telephone cord connection on the base.
12 Installing the Phone 13 Changing the dial mode Y our phone can communicate with the telephone network in two different ways: tone dialing or pulse dialing. These days, most base networks use a method called tone dialing, so your phone comes programmed for tone dialing.
12 13 Installing the Phone Expanding Y our Phone Adding accessory handsets Y our phone supports a total of six cordless handsets, including any that were supplied with your phone. Y ou can now place a fully-featured cordless handset anywhere AC power is available to connect the charging cradle.
14 Installing the Phone 15 Using Multiple Bases The handsets supplied with your phone can be registered to a total of four different bases. Compatible bases include the DECT1500 series and the WXI2077 series. (See our website or contact Customer Service for an up-to-date list of compatible models.
14 15 Installing the Phone Selecting the base After you register your handset to more than one base, you can set the handset to automatically search for a new base if the base it’s currently connected is unavailable or out of range.

20 Using the Interface 21 Using the Interface Reading the Display Handset Note: The handset does not display the day and time. Base The ringer off icon indicates that the ringer is turned off. The voice mail icon appears when you have messages waiting in your voice mailbox.
20 21 Using the Interface Using the Four-way Function Key Y our handset and base have a four-way function key that allows you to move the cursor on the display and access the most commonly used features at the touch of a button. Press the left side of the key to open the phonebook.
22 Using the Interface Entering T ext from Y our Phone Y ou can use the number keypad on your handset or base to enter text by referring to the letters printed on each number key . When you press the number key in a text entry eld, the phone displays the rst letter printed on the number key .
23 Basic Setup Basic Setup Selecting a Language Y our handset supports three languages: English, French and Spanish. And your base supports two languages: English and Spanish for US models or English and French for Canadian models. Y ou can set the station’s language individually .
24 Basic Setup Use and to select the day of the week, and press MENU/SELECT . Note: The day of the week does not appear on the handset display . Use the number keypad ( 0 through 9 ) to enter the hour and minutes. Use and to select AM or PM , and press MENU/SELECT .
25 Setting Up the Phonebook Each station has its own separate phonebook that holds up to seventy names and numbers. When a station’s phonebook is full, the station beeps and shows Memory Full on the display . Y ou cannot add any names and numbers in that station’s phonebook until you delete some of the existing ones.
26 27 Assign a personal ring tone for this entry ( Personal Ring ) (Handset only). Y ou can attach a special ring tone to each phonebook entry; the phone will use this ring tone when this person calls. Use and to select one of the seven different ring tone options (see Selecting a Ring T one on page 29 for a complete list of ring tones).
26 27 Storing Caller ID or Redial Numbers in the Phonebook Y ou can store Caller ID records or redial numbers in the phonebook so you can use them later . Go to the Caller ID or redial list and select the number you want to store. (If the Caller ID information did not include the number , then you will not be able to store it.
28 Deleting all Phonebook Entries With the phone in standby , press . Press MENU/SELECT , and then select Delete All . Delete All? appears in the display . Move the cursor to select Y es . Press MENU/SELECT . Y ou will hear a conrmation tone, and Deleted! appears in the display .
29 29 Customizing Y our Handsets All of the following options are set separately for each handset, so you can customize a handset for each room in your house. Changing the Handset Banner Each handset will display a banner name once it is registered to the base.
30 30 Customizing Y our Handsets Using Y our Phone Activating AutoT alk AutoT alk allows you to answer the phone simply by picking up the handset from the cradle. Y ou do not have to press a button to answer the call. Press MENU/SELECT . Select the Handset Setup menu, and then the AutoT alk submenu.

33 Using Caller ID, Call Waiting, and Redial Lists Using Caller ID, Call W aiting, and Redial Lists If you subscribe to Caller ID service from your phone company , your phone will show you the caller ’s phone number and name (if available) whenever a call comes in.
34 35 Using Caller ID, Call Waiting, and Redial Lists 35 Seven-digit dialing If you can make a local call by dialing only seven digits instead of ten, you can tell the phone to hide your local area code in the Caller ID list; any calls from outside your area code will show all ten digits.

T o adjust the base speaker volume, press (to make it louder) or (to make it softer).
38 Finding a Lost Handset Using Hold, Conference and T ransfer 39 Finding a Lost Handset T o locate a misplaced handset, press FIND/HOLD/INT’COM on the base when the phone is in standby . Use or to select the handset you want to page, and then press MENU/SELECT .
38 39 Using Hold, Conference and T ransfer T ransferring a Call Y ou can transfer a call from one station to another . The handsets must be currently connected to the same base (see page 15). During a call, press CLEAR/INT’COM on the handset or FIND/HOLD/INT’COM on the base.
40 Using Special Features 41 Using Special Features Privacy Mode Privacy mode prevents other stations (that are connected to the same base) from interrupting your call. As long as your station is in privacy mode, other stations can’t join your call or make any calls of their own: their displays will show Unavailable .
40 41 Using Special Features Answering an intercom page When the intercom page tone sounds, the display will show the ID of the station that is paging. Press TALK/FLASH or CLEAR/INT’COM on the handset, or or FIND/HOLD/INT’COM on the base, or pick up the corded handset from the base.
42 Using Special Features Using a V oice Mail Service If you subscribe to a voice mail service, you can use your phone to access your voice mailbox. When there are messages waiting in your voice mailbox, the new message LED on the handset ashes, and appears in both the handset and base displays.
43 43 Setting Up the Answering System Setting Up the Answering System Y ou can set up your answering system’s features from the base or handset with two exceptions: you can only change the greeting or record a new greeting from the base. Only one station at a time can access the answering system menus.
44 44 Setting Up the Answering System 45 45 Deleting Y our Personal Greeting Y ou can delete your personal greeting from the base. Y ou cannot delete the pre-recorded greeting. On the base, press MENU/SELECT . Select the Ans . Setup menu, and then the Greeting Options submenu.
44 44 45 45 Setting Up the Answering System Setting the Record Time (or Announce only) Y ou can choose how many minutes (1 or 4) callers have to record a message. If you select Announce Only , the answering system answers the call but prevents callers from leaving a message.

46 47 Using the Answering System Remote Operation from the Handset Y ou can operate your answering system from the handset whenever the phone is in standby . Press / MUTE to start remote operation. During remote operation, the phone beeps to let you know it’s waiting for your next command.
48 Using the Answering System 49 Reviewing Messages The message counter on the base LCD displays the number of messages stored in memory . When you have new messages (that you have not listened to yet), on the base and the new message LED on the handset ash.
48 49 Using the Answering System Screening Calls From the base From the handset While the system is taking the message, simply listen to the caller over the base speaker . (Y ou need to activate the base call screen feature in advance. See page 45.) T o answer the call and speak to the caller , pick up the corded handset from the base or press .
50 Using the Answering System T o operate from a remote location, use any touch-tone telephone, and follow these steps: Call your telephone number and wait for the system to answer . If the answering system is off, it will answer after about ten rings and sounds a series of beeps.
51 W all Mounting the Base W all Mounting the Base This phone can be mounted on any standard telephone wall plate. D E S K W A L L (T o AC outlet) Remove the stand from the base. Connect the AC adapter and the telephone cords as shown on pages 9 and 10.

54 PB Maintenance Low battery alert When the battery pack is very low , the phone is programmed to eliminate functions in order to save power . When Low Battery - Charge Handset appears in the handset display and the phone is in standby , none of the keys will operate.

58 T roubleshooting 59 Weak or Hard to Hear Audio If the caller ’s voice sounds weak or soft, the signal might be blocked by large metal objects or walls; you might also be too far from the base, or the handset’s battery may be weak. T ry adjusting the volume of the earpiece (see page 36) or the audio tone (see page 37).
58 59 T roubleshooting Installing a telephone line lter or DSL lter Any broadband Internet service that uses your telephone line might interfere with standard phones. The most common type of these services, DSL, often causes static on your telephone.
60 T roubleshooting 61 Re-register the handset to the base (see Registering accessory handsets on page 13). If the handset cannot contact the base, it will display Out Of Range . Make sure the handset is in range of the base and the base is connected to power; you can also reset the handset without the base (see the next section).
60 61 T roubleshooting Changing the Line Mode for Multiple Extensions Line mode refers to the method that telephones use to signal each other that an extension is in use. Customer service may recommend changing the line mode if you have any of the following problems: Y our phone keeps ringing after someone answers on an extension phone.
