FEA TURES FEA TURES YOUR DT AM’S FEA TURES INCLUDE:- Superb Digital Record Quality This 7000A DT AM uses 4 times the memory and twice the sampling rate of older style DT AMs for enhanced digital recording quality . Fast Message Playback Allows quick playback through old, long or complicated messages.
FEA TURES Call Screening Lets you listen as a caller leaves a message so you can decide whether or not to answer the call. Call Break-Through (CBT) with Programmable Code Alerts you to an important call when the caller enters a preset code during the outgoing message.
FUNCTIONS FUNCTIONS Outgoing Message 1 Used to record the OGM1 greeting and used to select OGM1 as the greeting. Outgoing Message 2 Used to record the OGM2 announcement and used to select OGM2 as the greeting/announcement. Message Light The Red light above the answer button lets you know if you have new messages and whether your DT AM is on or off.

15 INST ALLA TION INST ALLA TION SELECTING A LOCA TION Select a location that is near both a telephone socket and an AC outlet. CONNECTING THE DT AM TO THE TELEPHONE LINE T o connect the DT AM to the phone line, plug one end of the supplied modular cord into the jack on the back of the DT AM labelled “line”.
INST ALLA TION CONNECTING POWER Use only the Uniden AC Adaptor supplied with this Uniden 7000A Digital T elephone Answering Machine. 1. Plug the AC Adaptor into the power socket at the rear of the DT AM labelled “9 V AC 400mA”. 2. Then plug the other end into your mains socket.
INST ALLA TION INST ALLA TION Disconnect the telephone line cord before replacing the battery . Always use a new 9V alkaline battery for optimum performance. Follow these steps to install the backup battery . 1. Use a Phillips screwdriver to remove the screw on the compartment cover .

19 PREP ARA TION PREP ARA TION SETTING THE DA Y AND TIME The DT AM records the day and time of the call with each phone message. Follow these steps to set the current day and time. 1. Press and hold down time set button until the DT AM announces the day of the week.
20 PREP ARA TION RECORDING THE OUTGOING MESSAGES Before you can set the DT AM to answer calls and record messages, you must record the outgoing message (OGM) the caller hears when the DT AM answers a call.
PREP ARA TION PREP ARA TION 21 NOTE: Do not tell the callers that you are not home. Instead, say that you cannot come to the phone right now . 2. Speak in a normal voice about 20cm (8 inches) away from the microphone (located on the front of the DT AM).
PREP ARA TION T o play back your outgoing OGM 1 message at any time, press OGM 1 , appears, the DT AM beeps and the outgoing message plays. T o play back your outgoing OGM 2 message at any time, press OGM 2 , appears, the DT AM beeps and the announcement only message plays.
PREP ARA TION PREP ARA TION W ARRANTY 23 SETTING THE NUMBER OF RINGS The ring select switch on the back of the DT AM controls how long the DT AM waits before it answers a call. Slide the switch to the desired position. 2 The DT AM answers after two rings.

BASIC OPERA TION BASIC OPERA TION SETTING THE DT AM TO ANSWER CALLS T o T urn The DT AM On T o turn on the DT AM and set it to answer calls and record messages, press answer once. The DT AM announces "Answer -on", beeps once and plays the outgoing message.
26 BASIC OPERA TION RECORDING INCOMING MESSAGES The maximum incoming message recording length is 60 seconds. When a recording reaches 55 seconds, the DT AM beeps once to notify the caller that time will soon be up.
27 BASIC OPERA TION BASIC OPERA TION ADJUSTING THE VOLUME Adjust volume slider , on the right side of the DTAM to the desired listening level. PLA YING MESSAGES The display shows the total number of messages. If there are new messages, the message light also flashes until all new messages have been played.
BASIC OPERA TION T o replay a message while you are listening to it, press . The current message starts again from the beginning. T o return to the previous message during playback, press and hold down The previous recorded message plays. T o skip to the next message during playback, press once.
BASIC OPERA TION BASIC OPERA TION F AST PLA YBACK During message playback, press and keep holding , the message playback speed increases. This lets you quickly scan a message or move to any place within a message. T o resume to normal playback, release .
BASIC OPERA TION BASIC OPERA TION 30 RECORDING A MEMO A memo is a message you can record by speaking directly into the DT AM, without having to call in on the phone. Follow these steps to record a memo up to 60 seconds long. 1. Press memo until appears.
BASIC OPERA TION BASIC OPERA TION When a caller enters the CBT code, the DT AM alerts you with loud beeps for 35 seconds. Then the DT AM sounds two beeps every two seconds for 30 seconds, and one short beep every second for the last 5 seconds. T o answer the call, pick up the handset.

33 REMOTE OPERA TION REMOTE OPERA TION REMOTE OPERA TION Y ou can operate the DT AM from any remote location using a touch-tone phone, or from a rotary phone using a pocket tone- dialler . Call your telephone When you hear the OGM, enter your security code.
34 REMOTE OPERA TION CHANGING THE REMOTE OPERA TION SECURITY CODE The remote operation security code is preset to 798, but you can change it by following these steps. 1. Hold down code set until the DT AM beeps once. appears. 2. Press again. (security code) and the digits of the current code appear in sequence, then the first digit reappears.
REMOTE OPERA TION 35 USING REMOTE COMMANDS T o use the remote commands, you must enter the remote oper- ation security code within 8 seconds after the DT AM answers the call. After the DT AM beeps once to verify you entered the code correctly , enter the number(s) for the function(s) you want the DT AM to perform.
6 Stop playback and message recording. 7 Record a memo. 81 Change OGM1. After the DT AM beeps, begin your new OGM1. When you finish, press 6. The DT AM beeps and replays. 82 Play OGM1. If no OGM1 is recorded, the DT AM announces "You have no announcement one".
