Read and follow all instr uctions in this manual before attemptin g to operate this machine.

8 SECTION 4: TRACTOR SET-UP NOTE: Reference to RIGHT or LE FT side of the tractor in this manual is obse rved from operator ’s position. A TT A CHING THE BA TTER Y CABLES NOTE: The battery cabl es may or may not be attached on your unit. If the cables are not at tached, please follow the instructions below.
9 Quick Adjustment Seat NOTE: If your seat was shipped mounted backwar ds on the seat pivot br acket, pull out t he tab foun d on the seat stop and hold it open while sliding the seat off the seat pivot brac ket. See Figure 3 . 1. Line up the plastic sea t spacers with the slots in seat pivot bracket.
10 IMPORTANT: Be certain that the FLAT side of th e PTO/Deck belt is the side coming in contact with t he deck idler pulleys. • With the tension relieve d, carefully rout e the belt around the electric PTO clutch as shown in Figure 4.
11 SECTION 5: CONTROLS NOTE: Any refere nce in this manual to the RIGHT or LEFT side of th e tractor is observed from operator’s position. * Tractors vary by model and are equipped wit h either a PTO lever or a PTO knob, NEVER bot h.
12 THRO TTLE CONTROL LEVER The throttle contr ol lever is located on the right side of the tractor’s d ash panel. Th is lever contro ls the speed of the engine and, on some models, when pu shed all the way forward, the choke control also. When set in a given position, the throttle will maintain a uniform engine speed.
13 SYSTEMS INDICA T OR MONIT OR / HOUR METER Your tractor is equipped wit h either an hou r meter or an ammeter as part of two available system indi cator monitors. Locate the monitor on the left side of your dash panel and compa re it to both shown in Figure 7.
14 CR UISE CONTR OL BUT T ON The cruise control button is located on the tr actor dash panel to the left of the ignition sw itch. Push the cruise control button while traveling forward at a desired spee d. While holding the button in, release pr essure fr om the drive pedal.
15 IMPORTAN T: Mowing in reverse is not recommended . WARNING: Use extreme caution wh ile operating th e tractor in the REVERSE CAUTION MODE. Always look down and behind before and while backing. Do not operate the tr actor when children or others are around.
16 ST OPPING THE ENGINE WARNING: If you strike a foreign object, stop the engine, discon nect the spar k plug wire(s) and ground against the en gine. Thoroughly inspect the ma chine for any damage.

18 HEADLIGHTS On some models, the lamps are ON whene ver the tractor’s en gine is runn ing. On oth er models, the lamps are ON whenever the ignition key is moved ou t of the STOP position. On all models, the lamps turn OFF when the ignition key is moved to the STOP posit ion.

20 Figure 13 Front tire toe-in can be measured as follows: • Place the stee ring wheel in posit ion for straight ahead travel. • In front of the axle, me asure the distance horizontally fr om the inside of the left rim to the inside of the right rim .
21 7. Engage the tractor’s PT O. 8. Remain in the operator’s po sition with the cutting deck engaged for a min imum of two minutes, allowing the underside of the cutting deck to throughly rinse. 9. Disengage the tractor ’s PTO. 10. Turn the ignition key to the STOP po sition to turn the tractor’s engine of f.
22 SECTION 10: SERVICE TIRES WARNING: Never exceed the maximum inflation pre ssure show n on the sidew all of the tire. The recommended ope rating tire pressur e is 10 psi for the rear ti res and 14 psi for the fr ont tires. Ref er to the tire sidewall fo r exact t ire manufac turer’s reco mmended or maximum psi.
23 IMPOR T ANT : If removing the batt ery for any reason, disconnect t he NEGATIVE (Black) wire fr om it’s terminal first, followed by the POSITIVE (Red) wire. When re- installing the battery, alwa ys connect the POSITIVE (Red) wire its terminal first, followed by the NEGATIVE (Black) wire.
24 Figure 19 IMPORTANT: Rotate the pin slightly towa rd the rear of the tractor and release the pin into the ho le provided. • Repeat the abo ve steps on the rig ht side of the tractor. • Move th e deck lift lever into the top notch on th e right fend er to ra ise the lift ar ms out o f the way .
25 • Grasp the ratche t’s handle and pivot it towar d the front of the tracto r to relieve tension on the belt. • With belt tension relieved, car efully remove the belt from a round the left- hand spindle pulley. IMPORTANT: Carefully allow th e ratchet to pivot rearward befo re removing it fro m the square ho le.
26 NOTE: Slowly rotate the pulley counterclockwise to roll the belt off of it. • Remove th e upper drive be lt by pulling it up throug h the battery tray o pening. • Reroute the new upper dr ive belt as shown in Figure 22. Lower Drive Belt IMPORT ANT : Proper removal of the lower drive belt requires the remova l of severa l tractor componen ts.
27 If the machine is t o be inoperative fo r a period longe r than 30 days, prepare for storage as follows. • Clean the engin e and the entire un it thoroughly. • Lubricate all lubricat ion points. Wipe the entir e machine with an oiled rag to pro tect the pain ted metal surfaces.
