THREE (3) YEAR LIMITED WARRANTY For three (3) years from the date of original purchase of our products, we will either repair or replace, at its option, free of charge, F.O.B. Factory or authorized service firm, any part found to be DEFECTIVE IN MATERIAL and WORKMANSHIP for the original purchaser.
4 SECTION 1: IMPORTANT SAFE OPERATION PRACTICES This symbol poin ts out important s afety instruct ions which, if not followed, could endang er the personal safety and/or pr operty of yourself and others. Read and follow a ll instructions in this manual before attempti ng to operate your rider mower.
5 Do: • Mow up and down slopes, not across. • Remove obstacles such as rocks, limbs, etc. • Watch for holes, ruts or bumps. Uneven terrain could overturn the machine. Tall grass can hide obstacles. • Use slow speed. Choose a lo w enough gear so that you will not have to stop or shift while on the slope.
6 • Check brake operat ion frequently. Adjust and service as requir ed. • Muffler, engine a nd belt guards become hot during operation and ca n cause a burn. Allow to cool down before touching. • Do not cha nge the engine governor setting s or overspeed the e ngine.
7 SECTION 2: SLOPE GUAGE 15° SIGHT AND HOLD THIS LEVEL WITH A VERTICAL TREE A POWER POLE A CORNER OF A BUILDING OR A FENCE POST F O L D ON D O T T E D L I N E , R E P R E SE N T I N G A 1 5 ° S L O P E Do not mow on inclines with a slope in e xcess of 15 degrees (a rise of a ppro ximately 2-1/2 feet e v er y 10 f eet).
8 SECTION 3: UNPACKING & ASSEMBLING YOUR RIDER MOWER • Remove all screws and staples from crate. • Holding the sides of the crate fir mly, lift the top of the crate up and keep it aside. Avo id tire punctures. • Remove and discard pl astic bag covering the unit.
9 WARNING: Do not operate the mower if any one of the gras s catcher, discharge chute or mulching p lug is not fi rmly installed on the mower. • Pivot the hood assembly up and lower the cutting height adjustm ent lever to the lowest position. • Remove the t wo wing nuts (A and B in Figure 4 ) from two ends of the gra sscatcher chute.
10 SECTION 4: KNOW YOUR RIDER MOWER Compare the illustrations in Fi gure 8 with your rider mo wer to familiarize yourself with the location of various controls and a djustments. The o peration of any r ider mower can result in foreig n objects being th rown into the operator’s eye s, causing severe eye d amage.
11 Stopping Mower • Release blade engagem ent pedal all the way. • Release the "Go" Pedal and dep ress the brake pedal. • When the mower co mes to a complete stop, set th e parking brake. • Depress the brake pe dal, pull up the parking brake knob and release the brake pedal.
12 SECTION 5: OPERATING YOUR RIDER MOWER Using Thr ottle/Choke Control The throttle/choke co ntrol is used to increase or decrease the spee d of the engine.Th e FAST and the SLOW positions are marked with illustrations of a rabbit and a turtle respectively.
13 Stopping Mower • Release blade engagem ent pedal all the way. • Release the "Go" Pedal and dep ress the brake pedal. • When the mowe r comes to a complete stop, place the shift lever in neutral. • Engage the parking brake by pulling up on the parking brake knob.
14 SECTION 6: MAKING ADJUSTMENTS WARNING: Do not at any time make any adjustment to riding mow er without first stopping engine a nd disconnecting spar k plug wire. Brake Adjustment During normal opera tion of the rider mower, t he brake is subject to wear.
15 Figure 12 • If the belt is slipping when you depress the blade engagement pe dal about 3/4”, loosen the two hex nuts on the cable. See Figure 12. • If the belt is engag ing sooner than when the blade engagement pe dal is 3/4” from the PTO switch, tighten both hex nuts on the cable.
16 Figure 14 Front to Rear Levelling • Place the deck in th e highest position . • Wearing a pair of heavy wo rk gloves to prevent injury, rotate the cu tting blade so that it is point ed front to back an d parallel to the ride r. Depress and lock the deck engage ment pedal.
17 • Remove belt f rom around deck pulley, idler pulle y, and the engine pulley. • Place the new belt aroun d the deck pulley and the engine pulley making sure that th e belt is routed inside the belt keep ers. There are two belt keep ers under the grassca tcher, one on the idler and the other under the de ck belt cover.
18 • Replace the wire or repair wit h electrician’s tape if the wire st rands have not been damage d. Also look for a wire pinched between bo dy panels, burned by the exhaust pipe or mu ffler, or rubbed against a moving part. • Stop the rider mowe r and engage the parking brake.
19 • Remove drain plug and drain oil int o a suitable container. Engine Refer to the se parate engine manual f or engine maintenance instructions. • Maintain engine oil as instructed in the separate engine ma nual packed with your unit. Read an d follow instructions carefully.
20 SECTION 9: OFF-SEASON STORAGE If the machine is to be inoper ative for a perio d longer than 30 days, prepare for storage as follows. Rider Mower • Clean the engine and the entire unit thor oughly. • L ubricate all pivot po ints. Wipe the entire machine with an oiled rag to pr otect the surfaces.
