E6581299 c - 1 - Introduction Thank your for purc hasing a “USB- to-serial c onver sion unit (USB001Z unit) ,” an optional device f or the TO SVERT s eries inverter s. The USB-to-ser ial convers ion unit mak es it pos sible to use a USB port on your com puter as a CO M port for c onnecting it to an inverter f or data co mm unic ations.

E6581299 c - 5 - 2. Inst alling the dev ice driv er W hen using the USB001Z unit for the f irst tim e, you have to install its driver on your com puter. Since the steps to be f ollowed to install the driver vary depending on the operation system used, r efer to the sect ion that corres ponds to the operating system used.

(2) Connect t he USB001Z unit to the co mputer w ith a USB cable. * At this tim e, do not connec t the USB001Z unit to the inverter. After a while, the “@Add New Hardware W izard” appears on the sc reen of your com puter m onitor , as shown in the figure below.

E6581299 c - 12 - 3. Checking the COM port number The CO M port num ber is needed f or com m unications with the inverter. So, follow these steps to check on it. The COM port num ber is r ecognized automatically when the installation of the device driver is com pleted.
