9 Introduction * MENU button Use the MENU button to display the menu included on many D VDs. T o operate a menu, follow the instructions in “Locating a title using the top men u. ” 18 * RETURN button Return to menu display f or VCD (2.0) discs with menu.
10 Introduction Open the cov er . Insert batteries (R03/AAA size). Make sure to match the + and – on the batteries to the marks inside the battery compar tment. Caution Never throw batteries into a fire. Notes • Be sure to use R03/AAA size batteries.

16 Basic playback Notes • Do not move the D VD player during playback. Doing so may damage the disc. • Use the OPEN/CLOSE button to open and close the disc tray . Do not push the disc tray while it is moving. Doing so may cause the D VD play er to malfunction.
17 Basic pla yback Playing in fast reverse or fast forward directions Press REV or FWD during playbac k. REV: Fast re verse playback FWD : F ast forward pla yback Each time you press the REV or FWD button, the pla yback speed changes. T o resume normal playbac k Press PLA Y.
18 Basic playback Locating a specific chapter or track Press SKIP or repeatedly to access the chapter or track number y ou want. Playback starts from the selected chapter or track. T o locate succeeding chapters or tracks. Playback starts from the beginning of the current chapter or track.

20 Advanced playback Repeating a Specific Segment Y ou can specify a desired segment and repeat it. Repeating a specific segment T o resume normal playback Press A-B RPT until RepAB Off is displayed . Notes • Some discs may not permit A-B repeat operation.
21 Advanced pla yback Playing in a Favorite Order Y ou can combine your fa vorite titles, chapters or tracks and play them in the order y ou determine. Y ou can program up to 12 selections into the memory (Memory playback). Insert a disc and press MEMORY during stop.
22 Advanced playback Zooming a Picture Y ou can magnify areas within a picture. Press ZOOM during normal, slow or still playbac k. The centre part of the image will be zoomed in. Each time you press the ZOOM button, the magnification level changes as follows: Press the ZOOM button to select the magnification level.

26 Advanced pla yback Playing MP3/WMA Files Y ou can play MP3/WMA files that ha ve been recorded on a CD-R or CD-R W on the D VD play er . Preparations • Make sure that a disc you want to play is compatible with this D VD player . Place a CD that contains MP3/WMA files on the disc tray .

29 Function setup Customizing the Function Settings Y ou can change the default settings to customize perf ormance to your preference . Press / to select the setting you want to change, then press ENTER. Change the selection by / buttons, by referring to the corresponding pages, then press ENTER.

31 Function setup View Mode The user may select one of the following options: Fill: Fill the screen with decoded image. Original: Display image as it original size. “Original” is preferred for Jpeg viewing. Height Fit: Fit the screen height with image height.
32 Function setup Setting details Night Mode Night mode is equivalent to Dynamic Range Compress. When it is On, it reduces the variations between loud and soft sounds in audio output. Y ou can still hear softer sounds and dialog even in very low volume.
