6 Introduction Choosing a disc When you want to pla y DVD or CD software or cop y programs from the HDD to a recor dable D VD, load an appropriate disc into the recor der . There are many types and formats of discs. Please use the follo wing information to select an appr opriate disc.
7 Recor ding Pla yback Editing Library Netw ork Navi Function setup Introduction Other s • Y ou cannot play discs other than those listed abo ve. • Y ou cannot play non-standardiz ed discs even if the y may be labeled as abov e.
8 Introduction On D VD-RAM discs Use only D VD-RAM discs that comply with D VD- RAM standard Ver sion 2.0, 2.1 or 2.2. The recorder cannot record on a disc f ormatted in any other standard. When using such a disc, initializ e it by using the disc-f ormat function of this recorder.

10 Introduction Pla yback side On handling discs Do not touch the pla yback side of the disc. Do not stick paper or tape to discs . On cleaning discs Finger prints and dust on the disc cause picture and sound deterioration. Wipe the disc from the center outwards with a soft cloth.

T o play a D VD-R disc recorded on this recorder on other devices, finalize the DVD-R disc on this recorder .
34 How to initialize a disc T o initialize a D VD-RAM disc, load it in the recorder . See page 20 for loading a disc. 1) Press QUICK MENU. The following menu appears. (The actual contents depends on the operational status of the recorder .) 2) Press / to select “ Disc management, ” then press ENTER.

By dividing it into se veral chapters, it will be easier to access a desired scene, and your editing or playbac k will be much easier .
