General Precautions 21 General Precautions When inst alling or moving Wa r n i n g y This Multifunctional Digital Color Systems requ ires 1 15 V , 12 A, 50/60 Hz electric power. Do not use a power supply wi th a voltage other than th at specified. Avoid multiple connections in the same outlet.
22 General Precautions Caution y When removing the plug from the outlet, do not pull th e power cord. Always hold the plug when removing it from the outlet. If the power cord is pulled, the wires may become broken and this could cause a fire or give you an electric shock.
General Precautions 23 Other point s y Make sure that there is enough space around the system to facilitate changing of parts, maintenance and cleari ng paper jam. If there is insufficient space, some operations, such as bypass feeding, will become difficult and the Multifunctiona l Digital Color Systems could even break down.

If the user information is in correctly entered, the men u will not switch . In this case, press the [FUNCTION CLEAR] button and then enter it again.
Preparation 1- Turning Power On/Off 53 T urning power off (Shut down) When turning OFF the power of the equipment, be sure to shut it down following the procedure below . Check the following three poin ts before shutdown. y No jobs should be left in the print job list.

In this case , change the setting of the paper size according to the following proced ure.
Preparation 2- Setting Copy Paper 65 Drawer for special uses When you set paper for special uses other than normal copying (e.g. she ets for cover copying) in the drawer , you need to set this drawer for th e special use in a dvance. If the drawer has been set for a special use, its indi cation will change on the touch panel.

Setting Originals 77 Continuous feed mode When the number of originals is too large to be set at one time, you can previo usly divide the originals into several sets to copy them continuously . T o do so, place the first set of the originals and press the [CONTINUE] bu tton on the touch panel while the data of this set are being scanned.
2 HOW TO MAKE COPIES 78 Setting Originals Single feed mode T o switch o ver between the continuou s f eed mode and the single feed mode, see P .203 “ADF / SADF”. The original will be pulled in automatically . Be sure to let go of it when it starts being pulled.

Bypass Copying 89 Byp ass Copying Byp ass copying When you want to make copies on OHP film, sticker labels, or non-standard size paper , place the sheets of p aper on the bypass tray . Bypass copying is also re commended for copying on standard size paper which is not in any of the drawers.
2 HOW TO MAKE COPIES 90 Bypass Copying Byp a ss copying on st andard size paper Copying on LD, L T , LG and ST -R size paper y Rear side of the side guides of the bypass tray has an indicator for paper height. The height of the sheets must not exceed this indicator .
Bypass Copying 91 3 Press the button of the same size as the one of the p aper you have set on the tray . If the paper size is not specified here, copying may be slowed down. 4 Press the [MEDIA TYPE] button on the touch p anel if the media type of the p aper you have set on the tray is other than plain p aper .
2 HOW TO MAKE COPIES 92 Bypass Copying Copying on b ack sides y When you want to copy on the b oth sides of a type of paper that is unaccept able for automatic duplex copying, such as THICK4 , select a media type for the copy paper and make a copy on one side of it.
Bypass Copying 93 Copying on st andard size paper other than LD, L T , LG and ST -R 1 Place p aper and original(s) by following step 1 and 2 in “Copying on LD, L T , LG and ST -R size paper” ( P. 9 0 ) . 2 Press the [OTHER SIZE] button on the touch p anel.

Bypass Copying 95 Byp a ss copying on non-st andard size paper Non-standard size paper should be within the following ranges: A (Length): 3.9" to 1 1.7", B (Width): 5.8" to 17" y Rear side of the side guides of the bypass tray has an indicator for paper height.

Proof Copy 99 Proof Copy This function allows you to check th at the copy density , zoom and margin width, etc. are properly set by making only one set of copies. Y ou can prevent miscopying b y using this func tion before committing yoursel f to mass-copying.

Switching Color Mode 107 Switching Color Mode This function allows yo u to swit ch color modes. T here are three type s of color modes as follows: FULL COLOR: All originals are copied in full color rega rdless of the type of each original. BLACK: All originals are copied in black regardle ss of the type of each original.
