16 General Precautions General Precautions When inst alling or moving Wa r n i n g y This equipment requires 220 to 240 V AC, 8 A 50/60 Hz el ectric power . For Saudi Arabia 100 V version, it requires 127 V AC, 12 A 50/60 Hz electric power . Do not use a power supply wi th a voltage other than that specified.
General Precautions 17 Caution y Avoid placing the equipment in a place unsuitable for its weight and also make sure the sur- face is level. Remember that if the equipment falls o ver , seriou s injuries could resul t. Weight of the equipment: approx.
18 General Precautions When using the equipment Wa r n i n g y Do not place metallic objects or containers with liquid (flower vases, coffee cups, etc.) on or near the equipment. And keep paper clips and staples away from the a ir vent. This could cause a fire or give yo u an electric shock.

20 General Precautions Other point s y Do not turn the power OFF with jammed paper left inside the equipment. This could cause malfunctions when the main switch is turned ON next time. y Be sure to turn the power OFF when leaving the office or if there is a power failure.
How to Use Antiskid Devices 21 How to Use Antiskid Devices The Paper Feed Pedestal (optional) has 4 anti skid devices and 2 fall-preventing stoppers under its bottom. When moving this equipment, turn them in the direction of arrows (see fig ures below) and raise them to unfix the equipment.

The paper size is indicated on the botto m inner surface of the drawer . 5 While pushing the green knob of the side gui des fully , widen the gap between them.
Preparation 2 - Placing Copy Paper 39 6 Place p aper in the drawer . y The maximum number of she ets can be placed in one go is 250 (80 g/m 2 ). Be sure that the stack height of paper is not higher than the line indicated at the inner side of the guide .

Preparation 2 - Placing Copy Paper 41 Placing p aper in the drawers of Paper Feed Pe destal (optional) Follow the procedure below to place cop y paper in the drawers of the Paper Feed Pedestal (optional). For the acceptable paper , see the following page: P .

Preparation 3 - Register ing Size of Paper Placed 45 Prep aration 3 - Registering Size of Paper Placed When you place paper in a drawer for the first time or when you place paper whose size is differ- ent from that of the p aper which has been placed in the draw er , the new paper size needs to be registered into the equipment.
1 PREP ARA TION 46 Preparation 3 - Regi st ering Size of Paper Placed 3 Press the [COPY] button several times until th e lamp of the p aper size you placed in the drawer is lit. If the [CANCEL] button is pressed at this step, the size is not registered and the equipment will return to its normal status.
Preparation 3 - Register ing Size of Paper Placed 47 Registering other st andard sizes When standard size paper other than A3, A4, A4-R, A5-R or B4 is plac ed, register this size as “OTHER” size. In this section, L T size is registered in the drawer of the equipment as an example.

Placing Originals 51 When the built -in memory has become full during s canning When the built-in memory in the equ ipment has beco me full during the scanning of the copy job, scanning stops even if the number of sheets scanned so far has not exceeded the maximum value.
2 HOW TO MAKE COPIES 52 Placing Originals When copying highly transp arent originals When copying highly transparent originals su ch as overhead transparencies or tracin g paper , place a blank sheet of paper (A), the same size as the original or larger , over the original (B).

2 HOW TO MAKE COPIES 54 Placing Originals When black streaks appe ar on the copied image If the scanning area or the guide area is dirty , image problems such as black stre aks on the cop- ied image may occur . Weekly cleaning of these areas is recommended.

If the [CANCEL] button is pressed at this step, the size is not registered and the equipment will return to its normal status.

2 HOW TO MAKE COPIES 64 Using Bypass Tray Byp ass copying on standard size p aper S tandard size paper can be used for bypass copying. In this secti on, the procedure is described with A4 size thick paper (90 g/m 2 ) placed on the bypass tray as an example.
Using Bypass Tray 65 2 Check if the lamp of the p aper size placed on byp ass tray is lit. If not, press the [COPY] button several times until the lamp of the desired p aper size is lit. The LCD screen shows as follows: 3 Select the media type most suited to th e p aper placed in the d rawer .

Paper Selection 69 Paper Selection Y ou can select the size of copy paper in two ways; one is automat ic paper selection in which the equipment automatically selects copy paper of th e same size as the original, and the oth er is manual paper selection in which you can select the desired paper size manually .

3 COPYING FUNCTIONS 74 Zooming In/Out Copy Image Zooming In/Out Copy Image Y ou can set the reproduction ratio of the copy image in the following three ways: Automatic magnification selection (AMS): S pecify the size of the copy paper in advance.

Copy Menu 83 Copy function list The copying functions displayed on the copy menu are shown below . Function Description FINISHING ( P. 8 4 , P. 8 5 , P .86) Selects finishing modes for paper copied and exited to the receiving tray . SORT : Exited in the same order as originals in each set.

Sorting Alternately One Set by One - ALTERNATION - 85 Sorting Alternately One Set by One - AL TERNA TION - When you make several sets of copies, the copies can be sorted and made to exit alternately one set by one.
4 ADV ANCED COPYING FUNCTIONS 86 Sorting in Magazine Type Arrange ment - MAGAZINE SORT - Sorting in Magazine T ype A rrangement - MAGAZINE SORT - The copies can b e made to ex it in a booklet- type page arrangement. This is called magazine sort. Y ou can make a booklet by folding and bindi n g the stack of copied paper at its centre.

4 ADV ANCED COPYING FUNCTIONS 88 Shifting Paper to Ma ke Margin - IMAGE SHIFT - Shif ting Paper to Make Margin - IMAGE SHIFT - Y ou can make a margin on copy paper by shifting the whole paper to the right or left. The margin can be used for punching hole s or stapling.

4 ADV ANCED COPYING FUNCTIONS 90 Erasing Shadow on Edge - EDGE ERASE - Erasing Shadow on Ed ge - EDGE ERASE - When you make copies of thick objects such as books, the edge of copied image may be dark- ened by shadow .
Erasing Shadow on Edge - EDGE ERASE - 91 5 Specify the margin wid th, and then press the [ENTER] button. The margin width can be set between 4 mm and 15 mm. The edge erase is set. 6 Select the other copy modes as required, and the n press the [ST ART] button.
4 ADV ANCED COPYING FUNCTIONS 92 Copying on Both Sides - DUPLEX - Copying on Both Sides - DUPLEX - Y ou can select whether originals and paper are 1 -sided or 2-sided individually . Y ou can make copies of 1-sided origin als into the both sid es of paper so that you can save paper .
Copying on Both Sides - DUPLEX - 93 BOOK > 2 ( P .96) y T o scan 2-sided origi nals automati cally , the Reversing Automatic Document Feeder (optional) is required. y T o copy on the both sides of paper , the Automatic Duplexing Un it (optional) is required.

4 ADV ANCED COPYING FUNCTIONS 96 Copying on Both Sides - DUPLEX - Copying booklet on both sides Y ou can copy booklet-type originals such as books o r catalogues on the both sid es of paper , as in the same manner as the original. 1 Place p aper in the drawer .
Copying on Both Sides - DUPLEX - 97 5 Select whether the beginning p age of the copy is the right or lef t p age, and also select whether the en ding p age is the right or lef t p age. Then press the [ENTER] button. Select among “RIGHT > RIGHT”, “RIGHT > LEFT ”, “LEFT > LEFT” and “LEFT > RIGHT”.
4 ADV ANCED COPYING FUNCTIONS 98 Copying on Both Sides - DUPLEX - 7 Place the original, and then select other copy modes as required. Then press the [ST ART] button. Do not place heavy objects (4 kg or more) and do not press on it with force. Breaking the glass could injure you.
Copying Right and Left Pages Separately - DUAL PAGE - 99 Copying Right and Lef t Page s Sep arately - DUAL P AGE - When you place a booklet-type origina l on the orig inal glass while it is being open ed, the right and left pages of the opened section can be co pied separately on different paper .
4 ADV ANCED COPYING FUNCTIONS 100 Copying Right and Left Pages Separ ately - DUAL PAGE - 4 Select “ON”, and then press the [ENTER] button. 5 Specify the margin wid th, and then press the [ENTER] button. The margin width can be set between 8 mm and 30 mm.
Printing Page Number, Date and Time - ANNOTATION - 101 Printing Page Number , Date and Time - ANNOT A TION - Y ou can print page nu mbers, date an d time o n copied paper . 1 Place p aper in the drawer . 2 Place the original. 3 Select “ANNOT A TION” in the copy menu, and then press the [ENTER] button.
