9 6. If your mount is not inte greated into y our device, place your device in the mou nt, making sure that it clicks into place. 7. Plug the USB car charger into the power supply on your dashboard. 8. Connect the USB cable to the car charger and your Tom Tom device.
10 Tip : We recommend usin g a broadband inter net conn ection whenever you co nnect your nav i- gation device to MyTom Tom. Setting up MyTomTom To set up MyTomTom , do the following: 1. Connect your compu ter to the internet. 2. Start a browser and go to tomtom.
11 If your device suppor ts voice control, you can also dr ive more safely by using voice control to control your navigation de vice. Device not starting In rare cases, your Tom Tom navigation devic e may not start corr ectly or may stop responding to your taps.
12 Planning a route Important : In the in terest of safety and to reduce di stractions while you are driving, you should always plan a route bef ore you start driving. Important : If you are usi ng a TomTom cam per and tr avel trailer home product, before planning a route you should set up your device f or your vehicle.
13 When the correct city or town appears in the list, tap the name to select the destination. 5. Enter the street name. Streets with similar names are shown in the list whil e you type. When the correct street name appears in the list, tap the name to select the destination.
14 Tip : If you want your final destination to be a car park, tap Car par k and select a location from the list of car parks close t o your general d estination . 8. When the new rou te is shown, tap Do ne . For more infor mation about the route, tap Details .

16 Tip: The alternative route disappears when i t is no longer faster than your original route or it is too late for you to cho ose it. To change how you are asked about alternative rout es, tap Setti ngs and then Route planning . Tap Next until you reach R eplanning sett ings .
17 Frequent destinations If you often make trips to the same des tinations, you can set your Tom Tom device to ask if you want to plan a route to one of these locations every time the device starts. Thi s is faster than pla n- ning a route in the norm al way.
18 Status bar Tap Status bar in the Settings menu to enable or disable arrival time notifications. To enable arrival time no tifications select Leeway . After planning a route, tap YES to enter a preferred arri val time. Your device calcul ates your arr ival time and shows you whether you will arr ive on time.
19 Recent destination Tap this button to sel ect your destination fr om a list o f places you h ave recently used as destinatio ns. Point of Interest Tap this button to navig ate to a Point of In terest (POI). Spoken address On some devices you can enter an address us ing speech.

22 About voice control Note : Voice control is no t supported on all de vices or in all languages. Instead of tapping the sc reen to con trol your TomTom device, you can use yo ur voice to control your device. For example, to increase t he volume on your devic e, you can say "Incre ase volume" or "V olume 50%.
23 A green bar means the de vice can hear you r voice. A red bar means your voice is too loud f or the device to recogni ze individual words. A gray bar means your v oice is too quiet for the de vice to recognize individual words. For some phrases, your device repe ats what you say and asks for confirmation.

27 Set whether you want your TomTom devic e to replan the current route if a fast er route is found while you are driving. This is useful if traffic builds up or clears, f urther ahead on your route. Choose from the followin g settings: Always switch to that route - select this op tion to rece ive no messages when a faster route is found.
28 About lane guidance Note : Lane guidance is no t available for all jun ctions or i n all countri es. Your TomTom navi gation device helps you prepare for highway e xits and junct ions by showing the correct driving lane f or your planne d route. As you approach an e xit or junction , the lane you need i s shown on the screen .
29 Tip : If no lane guid ance is shown in the status bar and all l anes are highlighted, you can use any lane..
30 Making changes to your route After you plan a route, yo u may want to ch ange the route or even the destinati on. There are var i- ous ways to change your route withou t the need to c ompletely replan the entir e trip. To change the cur rent route, tap C hange route in the Main menu: Change route Tap this button to change the current route.

32 Waypoints withou t notification - a waypoint that you are using to hel p guide your route, for example, you want to tra vel from Ams terdam to Rotterdam using a ce rtain highway. You ar e not notified when nearing the waypoint. Adding the first waypoint to your route To add the first wayp oint to your route, do the following: 1.
33 Changing the order of waypoints Waypoints are automa tically added in an optimized o rder but you can s till change the order ma n- ually if you need to. T o change the order of waypoints, do the f ollowing: 1. Tap the screen to brin g up the Main menu.
34 The notification setting ch anges for your wa ypoint and you are i mmediately returne d to your list of waypoints. Tip: If a waypoint h as already been visited, you cannot switch n otification on or off. Reactivating a waypoint Note: You can only r eactivate a waypoin t that has already bee n visited.
35 About viewing the map You can view the m ap in the same way as you might look a t a traditional pape r map. The map shows your current loca tion and many o ther locations s uch as Favorites and POIs. To view the map in this way, tap Vi ew map or Vi ew route in the Main menu.
36 2. Traffic - current traf fic incidents. Use the Options button to se lect whether traffic i nformation is shown on the map. 37 Tap Advanced to show or hide the following informa tion: Markers - select this op tion to enable marke rs. Markers point to your current location (blue), your home location ( yellow) and your destina tion (red). The marke r shows the distance to the location.
38 Add as Favorite Tap this button to cr eate a Favorite at the curso r position on the map. Add as POI Tap this button to cr eate a POI at the cursor pos ition on the map. Travel via... Tap this button to travel via the cursor position on the map as p art of your current route.
39 About Map Share Map Share helps you cor re ct map errors. You can c orrect several types of map error. To make corrections to your own map, tap Map corr ections in the Se ttings menu. Note : Map Share is not a vailable in al l regions. For more i nformation, go to tomtom.

44 Tap the central pane l on the status bar and m ove the s lider to adjust the volu me. The last route instruction is played so yo u can hear the new volume level . In the Settings menu. Tap in the Main menu, th en tap Vo lume settings and move the slide r to adjust the volum e.
45 About Settings You can change the way your TomTom de vice looks and behaves. Most of the settings on y our device can be accessed b y tapping S ettings in the Main menu. To aut omatically switch between ni ght and day colors, tap Brightness in the Settings me nu and select S witch to nig ht colors when dark . Use day colors Tap this button to inc rease the brightness of the s creen and disp lay t he map in brighter colors.
56 Voices Change voice Tap this button to change the voice that gives spoken di r ections and other route instructions. A wide range of voice s are available. The re are comp uter voices which can read street names an d other inf ormation directly fr om the map and there are human voices which have been re corded by actors.
57 About Points of Interest Points of Interest or P OIs are useful pla ces on the map. Here are some examples: Restaurants Hotels Museums Parking garages Gas stations Creating POIs Tip : For help on mana ging third party POIs , search for "Third party POIs" at: tomtom.
58 Home Tap this button to set your Home location as a POI. This is useful i f you decide to change your Home loc ation but first want to create a POI using the current Home address. Favorite Tap this button to cr eate a POI from a Favori te. You might want to cr eate a POI from a Favorite because you c an only create a limited number of Favorites.
59 Spoken address Tap this button to cr eate a POI by saying the a ddress. Using POIs to plan a route When you plan a rou te, you can use a POI for the destination. The following example sh ows how to plan a route t o a parking lot in a cit y: 1. Tap Navigate to or Drive to in the M ain menu.
60 4. Select whether you w ant to see POI location s in 2D and 3D views of the map. 5. Tap Done . The types of POI you h ave selected are s hown as symbols on the m ap. Calling a POI Note : Hands-free calling is not supported on all navigation devices.

65 Tap Phonebook entry to se lect a contact from your phonebook. Note : Your phoneboo k is automatic ally copied to yo ur TomTom device when you first es tablish a connection with your m obile phone. Not all phones can transfer the phonebook to your device.

Changing the name of a Favorite To change the name of a Favorite, do the following: 1.
70 About RDS-TMC The Traffic Message Chan nel (TMC), also kno wn as RDS -TMC, transmi ts traffic inform ation as a radio signal and is avail able free of charge in many countries. TMC is not a TomTom Service, but is available when using the TomT om RDS-TMC Traf fic Recei v- er.
71 To make the traffic s idebar more readable som e incidents may not be s hown. These incidents will always be of minor im portance and only caus e short de lays. The color of the pointer s, as shown belo w, gives you an instant indica tion of the type of incident: Unknown or undetermine d situation.
72 4. Choose between always taking the fas ter route autom atically, being asked or never changing your route. 5. Tap Next and then Do ne . 6. Tap Minimize delays . Your device plans the quickest route to your destin ation. The ne w route may in clude traffic d e- lays and may remain the same as the ori ginal route.
73 Note : The home loc ation you set here is not the s ame as the home l ocation you c an set in the Settings Menu . In a ddition, the locations y ou use h ere do not have to be your actual home and work locations. 74 Tap the left and righ t arrow buttons to m ove throug h each incident in turn, vie wing the details of each one. This include s the type of incide nt, for example road works, and the le ngth of delay caused by this incident.
