Initial set-up 12 To connect a tiptel KM-30 auxiliary module, please read the appropriate chapter (Accessories p. 104) in this manual. Plug the ISDN connecting cable into the “LINE” sock et and insert the other end into an ISDN con necting socket.

Menu navigation and view When your tele phone is in st andby, you can access the m ain menu by pre ssing OK (or, alternatively ON or OFF ).
Instructions for use 18 Withi n the menu, you can move t he line bar by using the ON and OFF cursor keys . Use the OK key to select the marked menu lines or open an entry field. Alternati vely, a function c an be selec t ed directly by pressing the adjacent SELECTION KEY .

Telephoning with the tiptel 85 S ystem 24 Further handlin g of incoming calls depends on the Mode of use selected duri ng initia l set up. Mode of use: Office/regular There are various options available for processing i ncoming calls ( voicebox , reject and forward ).
Telephoning with the tiptel 85 S ystem 25 In addition to manual entry, you can use the FUNCTION KEY linked to a number or select a num ber from the ti ptel 85 System telephone book using the From telephone book opti on. Entries made in error can be deleted by using DEL .

Telephoning with the tiptel 85 S ystem 35 If t he REDIAL K EY is selected when the handset is picked up or in hands- free mode, the list is not displayed; the last dialled number will be directly dialled. In standb y, you can do th is by pressing the REDIAL KEY twice.

Telephoning with the tiptel 85 S ystem 41 You hear a call-waiti ng tone. If, during a c all, another per son is tryi ng to contact you, yo u will hear the so-c alled “call-wait ing” tone. In the display, in place of the current contact, you will see a bell icon together with the name and number of the person waiting.
Telephoning with the tiptel 85 S ystem 42 If you are dealing with more than one line, t he R key can have an other functi on: In this case, y ou can switch betwee n the different lines using the R key. You ca n only start another query if you pr ess the New line SELECTION KEY .
Telephoning with the tiptel 85 S ystem 43 A selection menu will appear: Call waitin g Forward Conference M artin (Lunch break) Press Call waiting . You can now speak with yo ur chosen caller. The previ ously acti ve connection i s now put on hol d. Conference During a conference call, you can ta lk with both callers at the same time.
Telephoning with the tiptel 85 S ystem 44 A conference will end au tomatically, if a waiting caller is a ccepted. You can only se t up a conference, i f you have exactly two connections. If you are switching between more than two connections, the conference option will not be allowed.
Telephoning with the tiptel 85 S ystem 45 The connecti on is now termin ated. If you ha ve further conn ections (on hol d) you will be automatically connected with them.
Further information 46 Additional functions Parking You want to park your curren t call for a short time in order to : Forward the call to anot her te lephone on the same ISDN bus Switch the telephone to another ISDN connecti on on the same ISDN bus.
Further information 47 Confirm y our entry by pressing OK and the c all will be parked. Press ESC to e xit the process. Resume (relea se parking) Go to Main m enu Sett ings Telephony Release parking . Enter the parking code used to park th e call.
Further information 48 The “ call back ” service is of fered only if this service fe ature has been made avail able in yo ur exc hange a nd your call partner has that service made availab le to him /her from his/her network operator.
Further information 49 The tiptel 85 System will go into standby mo de and activated redialling is indicated by a “ D ” on the display screen. When the devi ce is rediall ing, you will hear a ri ng tone and the device wi ll switch automatically t o hands-free mode.
Further information 50 To end the reminder early, press the SELECTION KEY next to the “ D ”. You will then be given the opportuni ty to end the procedure. Deleti ng an entry fro m the call back/remi nder list Press the SELECTION KEY next to the “ D ”.
Further information 51 If a key is pressed when the telephone is lock ed, an alert tone will sound and a request for a PIN wil l appear on the displa y screen (if the PIN re quest is acti vated). You can only p erform the rele vant action, when you have entered the correct PIN.

The lists 53 Incoming messages The list of voice messages will give you an overview of the messages left on the voicebox (tiptel V oiceMail System ), whilst a llowing you easy access to the individual messages. Press the List key. Press the SELECTION KEY next to “ Messages ”.

The lists 56 Date and time of the call Save the caller’s number to the dialling preparation (you can also make a call directly by picking up th e handset or pressing the HAND S-FREE KEY ). Save to the telephone bo ok (for proces sing or transferri ng the entry to the telephone book).
The lists 57 You can access the project list as f ollows: Before placing a call Via the List key , then select Projects using the SELECTION KEY . The call charges and time are then assigned to the corresponding project. During the call Via the Op tions SELECTION KEY , then Proj ec t selection .
Telephone book 58 Te l e p h o n e b o o k The telephone book helps you to manage names and num bers of your external contacts. The tiptel 85 System allows you to choose between the telephone’s local telephone book and the telephone book of t he tiptel.
Telephone book 59 Primary telephone book In its default settings, the tiptel 85 Sy stem will display the telephone’s local (individual) telephone book when you pr ess the telephone book key once. If you press this key again within a second, your telephone syste m’s telephone book wi ll be displayed, if available.
Telephone book 60 Telephone numbers of intern al subscribers will have to be entered with the prefix "##", e.g. ##51 Confirm by pressing OK. You can enter up to 3 different numbers per entry: business , mobile , and private .

Menu structure 62 Menu structure The main menu allows you access to all of the telephone’s primary settings. You will be offe red the option to c h oose one of the follo wing menu items: Settings Where you can change yo ur telephone’s settings. Profiles Where you can set up and edit your profile.

Settings 64 If you want to use the ri ng tone to diff erentiate between the i ndividual external numbers in your telephone s ystem, you can as sign a separate ring tone to each of the External 1... External 8 setting s.* External (Standard) This ring tone melody is used for all external calls, for which there is no speci fic entry under External 1.
Settings 65 Volume The call volume can be set a t le vel 1 to 14 or "off". Press the adjacent SELECTION KEY . Settings 71 The PIN sec ured option determines whether the devi ce PIN has to be entered or not before the telephone is locked or unlocked. Blocked numbers If you want to s elect a number from thi s list or whose first numbers correspond to an entry on the blocked list , the tel ephone wil l not dial the number.
Settings 72 Charge rate Main menu Settings Phone Charge rate In order to assign call costs correctly, a charge rate per unit has to be allocated (independently of your network provider). The relevant rates p er user or those for the entire connection can be seen under Information .
Settings 73 Please note, e specially when using th e syst em’s LCR func tion, that som e telephone providers do not support the X. 75 protocol used du ring the f irmware update. In this instance, the L CR func tion must be deactivated during the update.

Settings 83 Program function keys Main menu Settings Function keys The programmable function keys of the tipt el 85 System allow you to assign your most frequentl y used functions a nd menus. For example, you can programm e in your colleagues’ and business part ners’ numbers.
Settings 84 Calls while absent The key flashe s as soon as a new call i s recei ved. Pressing the key stops th e flashing and opens up the call list. Contrast Allows you to confi gure the display contrast. Call forwarding Open the Call forwarding menu.
Settings 85 You can exit the process by p ressing ESC . If the FUNCTION KE Y is preset to the telephone sy stem, you will hear a warnin g tone and a me ssage that t he key cannot be assi gned. Select the key that you would like to pr ogramme and select th e desired func tion from the list offered.
Settings 86 Deleting a programmed user i s carried out in the list view Additional MSNs . Highlight the user with the cursor ke ys and t hen delete the entry with . Please note that only f or the addition al MSN the telephone system does not provide any sy stem func tions.
Profiles 87 Profiles The tiptel 85 System a llows you to co mbine various telephone settings into so- called “Profiles”. You c an toggle between th ese profil es directly by means of the function keys or they can be time-controlled.

Profiles 89 Creating a new profile Select the New profile option. You will now be asked to en ter a name for the profile. You can modify any profile setting.
Profiles 90 Activating the device profile To act ivate a devi ce profil e, select the Phone sett ing in the us er line o f the Pro files menu. Enter the desired profile in the Phone profil e line. By pressing SELECTION KEY you can toggle between the indi vidual device profiles you have defined.

Voicebox 97 Delete all i ncoming messages Select this item, if you want t o delete al l ICMs. Confirm the confirmation qu ery. All incomin g mes sag es are deleted. Voicebox 99 Configuration possibili ties for saving messages: Forwarding Off/message/S MS/call. You can select the type of message forwarding or switch off the function. Target number This is where you enter the nu mber to which the messa ge is forwarded.

Appendix 104 Appendix Accessories Extension mo dule: ti ptel KM-30 The 10 progr ammable func tion keys of the ti ptel 85 System mean that you can tailor them to fit your individual needs in the workplace. If you need yet more keys, this is not a probl em.
