The content in brief... EN EN 1 T o begin About y our device Y our D VD recor der is a digital video play er and recor der . Thanks to its tuner you can r ecord TV progammes on D VD R/R W (D VD +R/-R/+R W/-R W) discs or on the integrated hard disc. The hard disc is also called the HDD or D VR.
2 Inserting the batteries Important information about batteries • Respect the polarities. Do not mix differ ent types of batteries or new and old batteries. Do not use rechargeable batteries. Do not expose batteries to excessive heat, do not incinerate them and do not recharge them.
Automatic channel sear ch T o view channels then r ecord TV programmes with this r ecorder you m ust first install your r egion's channels. Installation inv olves looking for then storing the channels for the diff erent stations that can be receiv ed by your aerial.
The sock ets and their uses There ar e several wa ys in which you can incorporate your D VD play er into an Audio-Video system. This depends on the sockets and other a ppliances you ha ve. Sound and image quality depend to a large extent on the types of connections used.
5 EN EN Connections and initial set up 3 - Composite Video Outputs (Y , Pb, Pr) (YUV) The Y , Pb , Pr sockets deliver an optim um image quality due to the separation of the video signal into three separate components (comparable with RGB separation in a Scart-Peritel cable).

10 Recor ding functions Record the cur rent pr ogramme Configured r ecording (HDD or D VD discs) Configured r ecording lets you r ecord the pr ogramme after a quick adjustment of the duration, the quality and the destination of the programme to be r ecorded to the hard disc (HDD) or to a D VD R/R W disc.
11 EN EN Recor ding functions Sa ving the buffer This function lets you start to recor d a programme to the D VR hard disc even if y ou missed the start thanks to the Time Shift function. In the recor ding menu which appears, select then activate (position YES ) the Sav e Buffer function with the ▼ and B keys.
12 Recor ding functions 12 Pr ogramming a recor ding or a transfer Y our D VD recor der lets you pr ogram recordings or transf ers. Programming se veral recor dings is really useful when it uses the high ca pacity of the hard disc, thereby enabling y ou to go bey ond the limited capacities of D VD R/R W discs.
13 EN EN Recor ding functions VPS/PDC If the channel broadcasts the VPS/PDC signals, activate the VPS/PDC function to star t the recor ding at the time when the programme actually starts. Recording destination Select the disc where the pr ogramme will be recor ded (D VD R/R W or internal DVR) Quality Choose a recor ding quality .
14 Automatic pro gramming (Na viclick) Y our D VD recor der offers you a TV programming guide f or cer tain channels. The information it pro vides are br oadcast by these channels and can be downloaded. The updating of Na viclick information is carried out once e very 24 hours.
15 EN EN Recor ding functions Libraries The librar y lets you locate the various r ecordings pr esent on the D VR hard disc or the differ ent D VD R/R W discs in your D VD librar y . The librar y gr oups together the recording names and parameters and lets y ou look for them using the search functions.
16 Recor ding functions Librar y (on D VD R/R W discs) The (disc) librar y brings together the names of all the titles recor ded to the different D VD R/R W discs in your D VD collection. When there is a D VD disc in the recor der a disc symbol is display ed before the name of each title.

In the Librar y menu select Copy to disc and press OK to confirm. Select the type of file/title to be copied and follow the indications which appear on the scr een.

19 EN EN Pla ying a disc Readable discs • D VD - Video - 12 cm and 8 cm, single or double sided, single or dual la yer . D VDs are high density optical discs on which high quality picture and audio are r ecorded by means of digital signals.

21 EN EN Pla ying a disc Pla ying discs – Displa ying the information banner T o access the information banner , press INFO on your remote contr ol unit during pla yback. Use the arr ow ke ys C and B on the remote contr ol unit to select the various icons.
22 Pla ying a disc Subtitle and dialogue langua ge Select the subtitle or dialogue language if they ar e available on the disc. The name of the language selected appears under the banner . Note: selecting the language of subtitles only involves the disc being played.
23 EN EN Pla ying a disc Camera angles A few D VD discs contain scenes shot from various differ ent angles. If a disc being pla yed back offers diff erent camera angles the icon in the banner will show the number of the angle on the scr een.
24 Pla ying a disc Interactive banners In addition to menus, your D VD recorder has interactiv e information banners with icons repr esenting functions or information. Some banners provide access to disc pla yback functions (for D VDs, CDs, VCDs, etc .
Pla ying a disc Edit menu (D VD R W disc and D VR hard disc) The edit menu can be accessed fr om the information banner while you ar e pla ying a title on a D VD R/R W disc or on the internal D VR. This lets you carry out operations on the recordings which ha ve been made.
26 Pla ying a disc Pla ying imag e and audio (JPEG, mp3, wma) Y our pla yer can pla y JPEG files with a resolution of up to fiv e million pixels. How ever be yond 400,000 pix els there is no perceptible impr ov ement in the quality of pictures displa yed on y our TV screen.
27 EN EN Pla ying a disc T o pla y DivX files Y our pla yer is an Officially Certified DivX™ device. It can play DivX ® 5, DivX ® 4, DivX ® 3 and DivX ® V OD files according to the DivX Certified™ technical specifications.
28 Menus Disc menu The Disc menu is only accessible if a disc is inserted in your D VD recorder . This menu allows access to the list of titles of the Disc Title Men u or the images menu of the Pla yer Men u for your r ecorded discs (D VD R/R W).

Rename Title Using a character chart your D VD recor der allows you to change the names of discs or titles allocated when the recor ding was made . 32 Menus P arental contr ol Y our D VD recor der has a child lock function which enables you to restrict access to certain D VDs. The discs whose content ma y be deemed unsuitable for your childr en will therefor e not be visible unless a code that you ha ve pr eviously chosen is enter ed.
33 EN EN Menus Ratings limits This function mak es it possible to restrict viewing of certain D VD discs by pr ogramming a restriction on y our D VD recorder . This function can only be used with D VD discs pro vided with the function. Y our D VD recorder pr oposes restriction ratings betw een 1 and 8.
34 Menus System Options The System Options menu in the Setup menu offers you settings to configur e certain useful functions and optimise the performances of your D VD recorder to match those of the de vices connected to it.
35 EN EN Fur ther information Recommendations and information concerning discs (12 cm) Choice of CD-R / CD-R W discs This pla yer can pla y most CD-R and CD-R W discs.
36 Fur ther information • Use a decompression transfer rate of at least 128 kb/sec (kilobytes/second) when recor ding mp3 files. Sound quality with mp3 files basically depends on the rate of compression/decompr ession you choose.

40 40 Fur ther information D VD copy pr otection In accordance with the D VD standard, your D VD recor der is equipped with a Copy Pr otection system, which can be triggered on and off by the D VD disc itself, in order to mak e any recor ding of the concerned D VD disc onto a videotape of very poor picture quality , or ev en impossible .
Safety information - UK sock et Equipment for the UK is supplied with a mains cable fitted with a moulded plug. Mains connection This appliance is suitable for use on A.C. mains supply , 230 V - 50 Hz only . It must not be connected to D. C . mains.
