5 THE Gm882: PRESENT A TION AN D BASIC FUNCTIONS To swi tch on the Gm882, after you have ins erted a valid SIM card and correctly co nnected th e battery, press the k ey for a second.
6 FUNCTION OF THE KEYS Key function: to switch the phon e ON/OF F , tu rn the “ Mute ” function ON/OFF during con versatio n. Soft ke ys: to perf orm the functions i ndicated by th e icons on the display.
7 SYMBOLS SHOWN ON THE DISPLA Y the signal str ength of the cell ular network (m aximum 5 bars) ; if the name of the GS M network i s not displ ayed, but th e bars are shown, you ca n only mak e em er.

9 BASIC FUNCTIONS OF THE PHONE Making a call When the phon e is in stand- by mode, key in t he number of the receiver includi ng the area co de, and pres s the ke y . Use the key to delete the last figure or – keeping it pressed for a second – to delete the whole n umber and go b ack to the st and-b y mode.
10 Emergency calls Any time – even without a S IM card, but on condi tion that the p hone is in an area ser ved by t he GSM n etwork – you ca n make a ( free) emergenc y call. Key in th e number 112 in stand-by mode an d press . Without the SIM c ard, p ress and c onfirm w ith the k ey .
11 MENU The GM88 2 has two men us thro ugh which you can access t he variou s functio ns and cont rols whi ch charac terise its functioni ng. The traditi onal menu , which inc ludes all the functions and controls, and a quick menu, which with few “ click s ” , allows you to use the functions you will probably use most o ften.
12 The qu ick menu In stand- by mode, move the joys tick in any dire ction, withou t pressing it. The left side of the display will show some icons – each of these allow s you to access t he basic fun ctions of your Gm88 2 direc tly and q uickly.

14 PHONE BOOK The pho ne boo k is one of the basi c featur es of th e phone. With the Gm88 2 , besides the mem ory space ava ilable on the SIM card , the phone al so provi des extra memo ry for the phone bo ok.
15 When you use the inter nal phone book, yo u can store fur ther inf ormation fo r each nam e. For exam ple, you can store the hom e number, wor k number, mo bile numbe r and e-m ail addr ess of o ne friend.

17 CALL REGISTER Basic inf ormation (t he numb er of the pers on you ar e talking to, if availab le, the time the co nversat ion s tarted, the call type) of the last c alls are st ored i n you r phone. Among the incomi ng calls there are also th e unanswer ed calls .
18 EMS/SMS MESSAGES With the Gm88 2 you can send and receive traditional SMS text messages that are e nriched with t wo functions – T9 and EMS – whic h ma ke t he e diti ng of th e text easier and q uicker and allow you to insert pict ures, animati ons and sounds in your mess ages.
19 Type (menu 2 -1-4-4-3 ) This ne twork servi ce allows you to convert EMS mes sages into different formats, s uch as for e xample: ISDN an d PSTN serv ices, Pager, E- mail, Fax, etc. Change the pr e-set value “ 0_Text ” only a fter having contac ted your network operator to ma ke sure the se form ats can be sent.
20 Concatenated messa ges The pho ne Gm882 su pport s concatenat ed mess ages. This m eans th at you can edit a text with more than the tradition al 160 charac ters. Before you send the message, it will be automatically sp lit into two or more messages (up to 5 ) that will be sent to th e same addressee .
21 If t he w ord w ritte n by th e pho ne is not the one req uire d , pres s to change it with all the available matches, that i s, with a ll the o ther wo rds you could h ave written, using th e same keys . For exam ple, wi th the key s 3-4-4 -4-8 you can write “ digit ” , “ fight ” or “ eigh t ” .
