2 INDEX INTRODUCTION Read this manual before using y our player . The Play er is set to play Region B Blu ray or Reg ion 2 DVD Video discs . The player will accept the following disc types (among others): Blu-R ay , DVD Video , DVD -RAM, DVD -R, DVD+R, DVD-R W , DVD+R W , CD , CD -R, CD-R W , WMA, JPEG, MPEG4.
3 Blu-ray and DVD discs and players are covered by a worldwide agreement which limits playback of discs to specic regions as determined by the software manufacturer . Most discs come marked with a region coding. A disc specied as pla yable in one r egion may not play on a player designed for a dierent reg ion.

6 C ONNECTING HDMI DIGIT AL VIDEO AND A UDIO T O A T V AND ( OPTIONAL) SURROUND-SOUND DEC ODER HDMI C ONNEC TION TO A T V Y our Blu-ray player includes dierent connection options . Digital HDMI connection is recommended for the highest quality video and audio per formance.
7 C ONNECTING ANAL OGUE VIDEO , A UDIO AND SC ART SCART CONNECTION TO A T V If your T V doesn ’t have separate audio and video connections, it may have a SCART audio/visual connector . T o connect to a SCART input you will need a 3-way A V phono cable and a SCART adaptor (not supplied).
8 DIGIT AL A UDIO OUTPUT USING THE DIGIT AL AUDIO OUTPUT Y our player also includes a co-axial digital audio output. Y ou can use this jack to connect digital audio to a surround-sound decoder that doesn ’t have HDMI connections.
9 C ONNECTING T O THE INTERNET NET WORK C ONNECTION An RJ45 socket is provided on the rear panel of the play er for optional connection to the Internet via your home network.
10 GET TING ST ARTED PLACEMENT Place the player on a level sur face where it is unlikely to be k nocked over or fall and where the connecting leads do not constitute a cause of danger . The means of disconnection from the mains supply is via the mains plug on the power cord.
11 PLA YING A BL U-R A Y OR DVD- VIDEO DISC The instructions for playing Blu-ray and DVD -Video discs ar e the same. Blu-ra y discs do include some more advanced features . These are listed in a later section ‘Blu- ray disc special f eatures’ . Load the disc.
12 Repeat play: NO TE: Repeat f eatures ma y not be available on some Blu- ray discs. There ar e t wo r epeat modes. Pr ess the • REPEA T button repeatedly to step through the two repeat modes . The repeat mode selec ted will be displayed on the T V screen.
13 PLA YING A BL U-R A Y OR DVD- VIDEO DISC Audio selection: Some discs will include multiple soundtracks in dieren t languages or using dieren t encoding methods. T o change the audio soundtrack - Pr ess the • A UDIO button. The Audio yout menu will open.
14 BL U-RA Y DISC SPECIAL FEA TURES The special featur es in this section apply to Blu-ra y discs only . NO TE: Not all Blu-ray discs will suppor t these featur es. Blu-ray disc P opup Menu Some Blu-ray discs feature a Pop-up Menu. This enables you to view the Disc Menu to change settings or jump to scenes (chapters) without stopping pla yback .
15 BD-Live conten t via the I nternet: Some Blu-ray discs include access t o BD-Live content. BD-Live content is pro vided via the Internet by the disc producer . T o access BD-Live content - Check that your play er is connected to the Internet. • Load a blank USB driv e t o the USB port on the front • panel.
16 PLA YING A CD A UDIO DISC Load the disc • After a shor t delay while the disc reads, the disc will start to play from track 1. The tr ack and elapsed time will be displayed on the front panel and the T V will sho w the CD playback status display .
17 VIEWING JPEG PHO T O FILES Playing photos fr om a CD -ROM or DVD-ROM: Load the disc. • Playing photos fr om a USB Flash drive: Dock the USB drive into the USB port located under • the protective co ver on the front panel. Y ou will now see the Main Menu selection options.
18 VIEWING JPEG PHO T O FILES Zoom and pan (during a slideshow): Pr ess the • /, button. The slideshow will pause at the picture displayed . Pr ess the • ZOOM button r epeatedly t o select the z oom level you want from the options of Zoom o, zoom x 2, zoom x 4.
19 PLA YING WMA MUSIC FILES Playing WMA music les from a CD-ROM or DVD-ROM: Load the disc. • Playing WMA music les from a USB F lash drive: Dock the USB drive into the USB port located under • the protective co ver on the front panel. Y ou will now see the Main Menu selection options.
20 The repeat mode selec ted will be displayed on the T V screen. Repeat All: The player will repeat all les (tracks) on the disc continuously . Repeat All + Random: The player will repeat all les (tracks) on the disc continuously , but in a random sequence .
21 PLA YING MPEG VIDEO FILES Playing MPEG video les from a CD-ROM or DVD-ROM: Load the disc • Playing MPEG video les from a USB F lash drive: Dock the USB drive into the USB port located under • the protective co ver on the front panel.
22 Repeat/random play: There ar e three repeat/random modes. Pr ess the • REPEA T button repeatedly to step through the three repeat modes . The repeat mode selec ted will be displayed on the T V screen. Repeat All: The player will r epeat all video les on the disc continuously .
23 SY STEM SET TINGS - OVERVIEW AND NA VIGA TION This section includes instructions for conguring y our player to best match your system and also to customise the player to y our requirements. THE SET TINGS MENU All conguration and customisation settings ar e made through the Settings Menu.
24 SY STEM SET TINGS - SY STEM CA TEGORY The system cat egor y includes the following settings - BD Live Internet A ccess: There ar e 3 settings available - Limit access. When set to ‘Limit Access ’ it will be • possible to access BD Liv e content, except when errors are r epor ted from a DRM-cer tied network.
25 SY STEM SET TINGS - NET WORK CA TEGORY Why c onnec t your pla yer to a network?: It is only necessar y to connect your play er to a network if you plan to use the BD Live featur e or if y ou want to check on-line for updates f or your player .
26 SY STEM SET TINGS - NET WORK CA TEGORY Y ou will now see the IP settings screen. Y ou c an now continue to enter the other manual network conguration values to complete manual net work conguration. Select the ‘ Apply ’ option to close the screen and save settings.
27 SY STEM SET TINGS - DISPLA Y CA TEGORY The display categor y settings change the way in which the player is set up to w ork with your T V . T o check the current display settings: Navigate to the Display category of the S ettings • Menu. A window will open which will display the current display settings.
28 SY STEM SET TINGS - A UDIO CA TEGOR Y The audio category settings change the way in which the sound of your play er is set up. T o check the current audio settings: Navigate to the A udio category of the S ettings Menu. • A window will open which will display the current audio settings.
29 SY STEM SET TINGS - LANGU A GE C A TEGORY The language categor y settings enable you to set up the language inter face with your player and the discs y ou play . T o check the current language settings: Navigate to the Language category of the Settings • Menu.
30 SY STEM SET TINGS - P ARENT AL CA TEGORY The parental category settings enable you to restrict the playback of discs with a particular rating. Y ou may want to activate parental control settings if you want to restrict accessibility to movies above a cer tain censorship rating .
31 TROUBLESHOO TING No power: Check that power is c onnec ted. No picture after changing display resolution settings: If you have inadver tantly changed the resolution 1.
32 All care and cleaning operations should be carried out with the unit unplugged from the mains pow er . The sur face of the unit can be cleaned with a barely damp cloth and then dried carefully . Never use abrasives , abrasive cloths or chemical solven ts .
