Warning: If you ins tall a hard dis k that c ontains dat a, system w ill form at the hard disk and erase al l data.

11 Chapter 2: H ardwar e Setup A dd a RA M Modul e on DiskStation Synology R AM module 1GB/2GB is designed f or Dis kSta tion memory ex pansion, and i s optiona l for your choice . Follow the steps below to inst all, che ck, or remov e your RAM m odule.
12 Chapter 2: H ardwar e Setup 4 Insert the new memory mod ule in the memory slot on the motherboard : a Open the ejector s on th e memory slot and pus h them out t o the side s. b Align the notch on the gold edge of t he mod ule with t he notch in t he memory slot.

15 Cha pter 3 Chapter 3 : Install DSM on DiskStation On a netw ork computer , follow the steps i n this cha pter to in stall DSM on y our DiskStat ion . After DSM is install ed, you can ma nage all fea tures o f your DiskSt ation by logging i n to DSM with a w eb browser.
