Chapter 1: Introduction 1-1 1 CPU Overheat LED and Fan Fail Control This feature is available when the user enables the CPU overheat/Fan Fail warn- ing function in the BIOS. This allows the user to defi ne an overheat temperature. When this temperature is exceeded, both the overheat fan and the warning LED are triggered.

T o prevent damage to your system board, it is important to handle it very carefully . The following measures are generally suffi cient to protect your equipment from ESD.

Chapter 4: BIOS 4-1 Chapter 4 BIOS 4-1 Introduction This chapter describes the Phoenix BIOS™ Setup utility for the X6DH3-G2/X6DHi- G2. The Phoenix ROM BIOS is stored in a fl ash chip and can be easily upgraded using a fl oppy disk-based program.

Chapter 4: BIOS 4-15 Mode This feature allows you to specify the parallel port mode. The options are Output only , Bi-Directional, EPP and ECP . DMA Channel This item allows you to specify the DMA channel for the parallel port. The options are DMA1 and DMA3 .

Chapter 4: BIOS 4-19 Set User Password When the item "Set User Password" is highlighted, hit the <Enter> key . When prompted, type the user's password in the dialogue box to set or to change the user's password, which allows access to the system at boot-up.

A-1 Appendix A: BIOS POST Messages Appendix A BIOS POST Messages During the Power-On Self-T est (POST), the BIOS will check for problems. If a prob- lem is found, the BIOS will activate an alarm or display a message. The following is a list of such BIOS messages.
