1. Safety in struc tions » These safety in struc tions ap ply to all per sons within the range of ac tion of the equip ment. Please in form all per sons within the range of ac tion of the equip - ment of the di rect and in di rect haz ards con nected with the equip ment.

1.3. For your safety · The op er at ing per son nel of this equip ment m ust be at least 16 years old. · Please read these op er at ing in struc t ions care fully be fore tak ing into op er a tion for the first time. Con tact us s hould ques tions arise.
· Do not mod ify, add other equip ment or change the de sign of the equip ment with - out the ap proval of the man u fac turer. Cau tion: Dan ger of ac ci dents! · Com pile de tailed op er at ing in struc t ions based on these op er at ing in struc tions for the se quence of pro ce dures to be car ried out on this equip ment.
· This equip ment is not suit able for foods pro cess ing. · Ob serve that sound in ten sity lev els over 85 dB(A), may cause pro longed dam age to health. Use suit able ear muffs. This avoids im pair ment of hear ing! · At tach ments not sup plied by Ster ling must be man u fac tured in ac cor dance with safety reg u la tion EN 294.
1.4. For the op er at ing safety of the equip ment · Never change set tings if the con se quences are not pre cisely known. · Use only orig i nal Ster ling spare parts . · Please ob serve the main te nance in ter vals. · Keep re cord of all main te nance and re pair pro ce dures.
2. As sem bly in struc tions » The se in stal la ti on in struc tions are in ten ded for per sons with skills in elec tri cal and me cha ni cal are as due to their trai ning, ex - pe rien ce and re cei ved in struc t ions.
2.1. As sem bly The sin gle con veyor unit is in sen si tive to shock s and can be mounted di rectly onto the pro cess ing ma chine, on a ma chine hop per, a dr y ing hop per or a dos ing and blend ing unit. The equip ment is de liv ered as a com plete as sem bly.
Mount ing on fixed ma chine throats or in ter me di ate con tain ers is done by means of strap re tain ers. Please check dur ing as sem bly that the ad mis si ble bear ing loads are not ex - ceeded. Mount the con veyor in such a way t hat the out let flap swings in a right an gle to the di rec tion of ma chine move ment.
2.2. Moun ting the suc ti on pipe MV The suc tion pipe con sists of an in ner pipe (A) and an outer pipe (B) which can be off set against each other. Con nect the in ner pipe with the st raight end to a flex i ble hose: Push the free pipe end into the flex i ble line to a depth of approx.
2.3. Elec tri cal con nec tion » Elec tri cal con nec tion of the equip ment must be car ried out by qual i fied per son nel only. En sure that the reg u la tions of t he lo cal elec tric sup ply com pany are ob served. The op er at ing volt age is 230 V/50 Hz.
2.3.1. In stal la tion of the “flap sw itch” sig nal line In sert t he ap pli ance plug of the “ flap switch” sig nal line into the “flap switch” con - nec tor ( A) on the lower side of the con trol ler.
2.3.3. In stal la tion of an alarm in di cat ing de vice at the SSE con trol ler (op tio nal) » This work must be car ried out by qual i fied per son nel only. Dis con nect the unit from mains sup ply by the de vice plug be fore you be gin with works on the con trol ler.
2.4. Com pres sed-air supp ly For ope ra ting the clea ning unit, a com pres sed-air supp ly is ne ces sa ry. L De pres su ri ze com pres sed-air supp ly li nes which must be ope ned. F Com pres sed air must be de wa te red, dust free and oil free. In stall a main ten an ce unit if re qui red.
3. Func tional de scrip t ion » This func tional de scrip tion is in tended for all op er at ing per son - nel of the equip ment. Pre req ui site for this func tional de scrip tion is gen eral knowl edge of con vey ing sys tems. En sure in each case that the op er at ing per son nel are suf fi - ciently in formed.
3.1. Gen eral The sin gle con veyor unit f unc tions ac - cord ing to the prin ci ple of suc tion con - vey ance. A high-per for mance tur bine, mounted per ma nently on the de vice, pro vides for the vac uum that is re - quired to con vey the ma te rial into the sep a ra tor.
3.2. Con trol ler SSE The set ting for t he con vey ing time and the line cle ar time ar e made via the keys (A1: “chan ge-over” key, A2: “ ar row key”) on the front of the con trol sys tem. The va lu es which have been set will be dis play ed on the dis play (B).
If a ma te ri al clea ring val ve has been in stal led (op ti on) re si du es of flo wing ma te ri al will be clea ned from the con vey ing line du ring the line cle ar time. If a dis tur ban ce oc curs in the unit , an alarm mes sa ge will be is su ed (op ti on, only if the alarm in di ca ting de vi ce has been ac ti vat ed) .
3.3. Con trol ler SSP The set ting for t he con vey ing time and the line cle ar time ar e made via the keys (A1: “chan ge-over” key, A2: “ ar row key”) on the front of the con trol sys tem. The va lu es which have been set will be dis play ed on the dis play (B).
4. Putting into op er a tion » This chap ter is in tended for op er at ing per son nel. Pre req ui site for this chap ter is gen eral knowl edge of the op er a - tion of con vey ing sys tems. Also pre req ui site for this chap ter is t hat the func tional de scrip - tion has been read and un der stood.
4.1. Check ing the pi pe sys tem Re move the f lex i ble hose from the con nected ma te rial takeup. Close the open end of the hose with your hand. Con nect the unit to mains sup ply by the de vice plug. If the tur bine is op er at ing, your hand must feel t he suc tion within few sec onds.
4.2. Ad justi ng the suc tion pi pes The suc tion pipes have to be ad justed ex actly to en sure troublefree op er a tion. 1. Set the suc tion pipes to their home po si tion. & At home po si tion the in ner pipe of the s uc tion pipe pro trudes about 120-160 mm (4.
4.3. Set ting the con trol l er SSE F The fil ling ca pa ci ty of t he hop per loa der may not ex ceed the ma te ri al in let. & The set ting is in de pen dent of t he con vey ing line and the ma - te ri al to be con vey ed. It is only pos si ble to set the con vey ing time / line cle ar time when the unit is not con vey ing any ma te ri al.
Set ting the line cle ar tim e Press the “ar row key” and the “chan ge-over” key . & The line cle ar time which was last se lec ted ap pe ars in the dis play. 0-99 se conds may be set for the line cle ar time. F If no line cle ar val ve has been in stal led en ter “ 0".
4.4. Set ting the con trol l er SSP & It is only pos si ble to set the pul se du ra ti on / time in ter val when the unit is not con vey ing any ma te ri al. Set ting the pul se du ra ti on Press the “ar row key” . & The pul se du ra ti on (= du ra ti on of a clea ning pul se) which was last se lec ted ap pe ars in the dis play.
4.5. In iti al con vey ing ope ra tions Me tal sha vings may be in si de the pipe from cut ting down pi pes into lengths. The - se are pul led du ring the fir st con vey ing pro cess and col lec ted in the se pa ra tor. F This ma te ri al should not be used again.
The fol lo wing er ror mes sa ges can be dis play ed: “E1" The alarm mes sa ge “E1" is dis play ed when no ma te ri al has been con vey ed du - ring 3 con se cu ti ve con vey ing cy cles. Check that suf fi cient ma te ri al is being con vey ed.
4.7. Alarm Mes sa ges dis play ed on the con trol ler SSP If a dis tur ban ce oc curs in the unit, an alarm mes sa ge will be is su ed. & An “E” ap pe ars in the dis play and an er ror num ber.
5. Main te nance » This chap ter is in tended for per sons with skills in elec tri cal and me chan i cal ar eas due to their train ing, ex pe ri ence and re ceived in struc tions.
L Dis con nect the equip ment from m ains sup ply be fore start ing main te nance pro ce dures to en sure that it can not be switched on un in ten tion ally. Depressurize all sys tem sec tions of the equip ment be fore car ry ing out any re pair work.
5.1. Main te nance in ter val s Daily: Check warn ing signs on equip ment for good leg i bil ity and com plete ness Wee kly: Check the main ta nan ce unit Check ope ra ting pres su re of the plant’s supp ly net work (5-6 bar (72.
5.2. Ser vicing t he con veyor » Dis con nect the unit from mains supp ly by the de vi ce plug. De pres su ri ze all sys tem sec tions of the equip ment ( only units with ac ti ve clea ning).
Re mo val Open the ten si on ring (A) and remo ve the hop per loa der lid (B). Open the ten si on ring (C) and re - mo ve clea ning unit (D). Re lea se clam ping de vi ces of the fil ter car trid ges. Re mo ve the fil ter car tr id ges (E) from the in ter me di at e plat form .
5.2.2. Changing the seal ing ring of the out let f lap Draw the old seal ing ring off the noz zle of the m a te rial out let. In stall the new seal ing ring.
5.2.3. Ad justi ng the flap switch Re move the con nect ing plug “flap switch” from the con nec tion hous ing of the hop per. Con nect an ohm me ter t o PINS 2 and 3 of the con nect ing plug “flap switch”. Re lease the nuts ( A) of the flap switch (B) un til the sup port can be dis placed.
5.3. Re placing car bon brushes at tur bine » This work must be car ried out by qua li fied per son nel only. Dis con nect the unit from mains supp ly by the de vi ce plug be fo re you be gin with works on the con trol ler. Dan ger to life! De pres su ri ze all sys tem sec tions of the equip ment.
In stal la tion Mount the brush holder. Mount the cover (G). Mount the tur bine hous ing (F). Mount the screws (E) at the t ur bine hous ing. Mount the ground con nec tions (C) and the mains ca ble (D). Mount the lid (B). Mount the screws (A) at the lid.
