1 Intr oduction Overv iew One-Console S tarView Switches The S tarView allows you to acce ss multiple c omputers from one keyboard, m ouse and monitor . There is no interface card or software to configure. Installati on is as easy a s connecting cab les between the S tarV iew and your compute rs.
2 High V ideo Q uality S tarV iew supports VGA resolution up t o 1600x1200 @85Hz without any degradation. Advanced VGA circuit design guarante es smooth and flicker-fr ee switchin g from one computer to the other with dist ance up to 100ft (30M)* at both Co nsole and PC si des.

5 Figure 2: A cascade S tarV iew configurati on Throughout this manual, Master is the StarV iew that has a physical key board, mouse and monitor c onnected to it s CONSOLE port. Slave is a St arVie w that has its CO NSOLE port connected to a Master's “PC x” port.
6 Installa tion Device Connection The monitor c onnected to the HD -DB-15 VGA port of a Mas te r CONSOLE must be cap able of sync hronizing with th e computer's video sign al. If you are uncert ain about th e monitor type, plea se consult the monitor user's m anual.
7 Determine t he channel addr ess of each com puter . For compu ters using PS/2 mou se, connect the computer's mo use and keyb oard cables to th e S tarV iew’s conn ectors marked w ith a mouse and keyboard res pectively, as show n in figure 4.
8 Initial Power-Up Make sur e all computers and S tarV iews are pow ered down during installat ion. Y ou must power up the Master S tarV iew before turning on any ot her devices. 4 For single S tarV iew: 1) Apply a power adapter to the Mas te r . 2) T urn on computers.
9 Optional Rack Mount Accessories Figure 6 show s how to att ach optional mounting brack ets to the S tarV iew unit for st andard 19-inch r ack cabinet. 14 Scan mode, th e OSD displays the name of the selected co mputer. W hen Auto S c an detect s any keyboard or mouse activity , it suspen ds the scannin g till activity stops; it th en resumes w ith the next comp uter in sequence. T o abort the Aut o Sc a n mode, pr ess the left <CTRL> twice, or , press any front button.
15 S tarV iew offers k eyboard typemati c setting that overri des the similar settings in B IOS and in W indow s. Available speed option s are Low , Middle , Fast and Faster as 10, 15, 20 and 30 chara cters/sec respectively . The non-volatil e memory stores th e Keyboard S peed setting.
16 keystroke s for hot-keys a ll the time. A hot-key seq uence st arts with two lef t <CTRL> keystroke s followed by on e or two more key s trokes. A built-in buz zer generates a hig h-pitch beep for correct hot-key command; otherw ise, one low-pitch beep for error and the bad key sequence w ill not be forw arded to the sele cted computer .

A triangle mar k ( 4 ) is placed to the right of the cha nnel name indic ating the port is connected to a Slave not a computer .

21 Timeout s etting. The User Timeout is available in the OSD menu by pressing the Function key <F4>, under the s ub-menu More. Note: K eyboard S peed optio n is not available for multi-acce ss models.

23 T roubleshooting: Ensure that al l cables are wel l seated. Check that keyboard/mou se cables are n ot swapped. Label and bundle th e cables for ea ch computer to a void confusion w hen connected to the St arView .
