2 A bo ut T h is U s er ’ s Ma n u a l Y ou are reading the K anv us Office 54 G r aphic T ablet User M anual. This Manual provid es inform ation rega rding th e components in the K anvus Gr aphic T ablet and how to use th em. The following are major secti ons of this User’ s Manual : 1.

6 Tablet Refer to the pi cture below . Descriptions ○ 1 — USB Connector : Connect to a USB port on your PC. ○ 2 — Working A rea : P lease refer to Working area section for detail descriptions. ○ 3 — LED Indicator : The green LED light on the tablet is the main indicator for hardware operation.
7 (b) When the pen tablet is re -activated, the LED light will go on for a m oment, and will then turn of f again. (c) W hen th e tablet detects the digital pen, the LED will blink slowly . T his h appens when the pen tip is idling or is being placed within the working area on the tablet.
8 Digital Pen Refer to the pi ctures bel ow . Descriptions ○ 1 — Button 2 : This button functions as the Right Click of the mouse (by default). ○ 2 — But ton 1 : Function s like the scroll of the mouse, you ca n m ove up/down/left/right (by default).
9 ○ 4 — Pen Sta nd : Use the Pen stand to store the pen between tasks. Changing the batter y The power saving m ode will be activated if the pen is left unused for about 3 minutes. T o wake th e pen up, please press the pen tip once anywhere on the surface before you start w riting again.

11 Installation Windo w s Installing the Driver Soft w are on Windo ws Please follow the installatio n instructions b elow for Microsoft W indows XP , Vista and 7 operating systems : 1. Insert the packaged installation CD into CD -ROM drive. 2. The main ins tallation window w ill app ear automa tically .
12 3. W hen installing the driver , please follow the insta llation inst ructions on screen and press th e “Enter” key f or each step. A fter the installation is completed, p lease reboot the computer (recommended).
13 Mac OS Installing the Driver Soft w are on Mac OS Please follow the steps below to install the driv er : 1. Place T ablet CD into the CD-ROM drive. 2.
14 3. Choos e “ Driver Setup ” when the “ Setup Items ” dialog box appears. 4. Key-in your name and password (Mac computers require username and password).
15 6. Click “ Quit ” once the system message showed that “ The software was successfully installed”. Hardware Installation Connect the tablet to a PC via an available USB port, after you have installed th e driver and rebooted your PC. Driver must be installed before you connect the device.
16 Configuratio n Windo w s T o configure your tablet, please press 【 Start 】 ► 【 Settings 】 ► 【 Control Panel 】 , and double -tap the 【 T ablet Setting 】 icon. Or tap on the tablet icon ( ) in the S ystem T ray (located at the lower right corner of the screen).
17 1. Info The Info tab displays the version number of the driv er and T ablet PC function. (1) Show Icon in System T ra y : Tick the box beside it if you want to show th e tablet icon ( ) in the system tray . (2) Support T a blet PC Feature : Tick the box Support T ablet PC Feature to enable the T ablet PC function of pressure sensitivity .
18 2. Button (1) Button Name You may co nfigure the functions of Pen Tip, Barrel Button 1 and Barrel Button 2 by clicking the drop-down m enu for Button Name. Assign a co mmand a ccording to the Mouse Command list. You can select No Action, Left Click, Lef t Double Click, Middle Click, Middle Double Click, Right Click, or Right Double Click.
19 (2) Double Cli ck T ime Move the cursor towards “ Slow ” if you w ant a slower double -tapping time with the Pen Tip, or move towards “ Fast ” if you wan t it faster .
20 3. Scope (1) Full A rea T ap on the “ Full Area ” button to enable the full working are a. (2) Sc reen Ratio Set the tablet scr e en r atio. The screen ratio y ou set will then be the screen size of your working area.
21 (3) Res erve Edges T ap on th e “ Reserv e Ed ges ” button to allocate spaces for the tablet’s hotspots. (4) Pe n A rea Dimensions This indicates the cu rrent height a nd width in the Pen Area Di mensions. Enter ne w v alues here if you wish to change the dimensions of the pen area.
22 (5) Pe n A rea Offset This indica tes the horizontal and vertical distances from the upper left corner of the Pen Area to the upper left corner of the m aximum Pen Are a. Enter new v alues by t yping in numbers o r clicking the up/down arrows if you wish to adjust the offset distance.
23 4. Hot spot (1) Hot Pad La y out You can se e t he properties of the hot keys by clicking the blue blo cks at the edges of the digital tablet. (2) Hot Edges Th ere are four edges arou nd th e tab let for you to allocate the hot keys. (3) Define Press the Def ine key to configure hotspots for running programs, the Internet or hot keys.
24 Parameters – The string type will be p assed to the program as p arameters. For example, you m ay type in a document n ame he re and it w ill b e passed to a word processing program.
25 (4) Print T ap on the “ Print ” button to print an overv iew of all hot spot functions. (5) Clear T apping on this button w i ll clear up the definition of the selected Hotspot, so no action wil l be ta ken when the Hotspot is tapped later on. (6) Load Default Return to original default.
26 5. Pressure (1) Pressure Test You can click the slide bar below to adjust pressure sensitiv ity and there are 4 color choices fo r the pen : Black, Red, Green and Blue. There is a Pressure Test area to see the thickness of a line for a ce rtain sensitivity of the pen tip o n the tablet p ad.

29 There are 5 tabs : Info, Button, Scope, Hot Cells, Pressure. 1. Info The Info tab displays the version number of the driv er and T ablet Mac information.

Button (1) Button Name You may configure th e commands of the pen tip a nd the two barrel b uttons by select ing the button name f rom the drop down menu and assigning a command based o n a traditional three -button mouse. You can select No Action, Left Click, Left Double Click, Right Click, or Right Doub le Click.
31 3. Scope (1) Full A rea T ap o n the “ Full Area ” bu tton to enable full working area. (2) Sc reen Ratio Set the screen ratio fo r the tablet working a rea.

33 4. Hot Cells (1) Hot Pad La yout You can see the property of a hot key by clicking the b lue cells surrounding the digital tablet. (2) Hot Edges There are four edges around the tablet where y ou can allocate your hot key locations. (3) Define Press the “ Define ” key to define Run, Internet or Hot Key functions.
34 (a) Define Hot Cells – Run Run – You may u se the browse bu tton to select a f ile and run it, o r you may type in a file name with the complete path. (b) Define Hot Cells – Internet Kind of Service – You can select some Internet services, for example, browsing a website, newsgroup, sending an E -mail, or using other Internet services.
35 (c) Define Hot Cells – Hot Key Configure the key combination – Y o u may select any key such as alphabet, numeric key or cursor control key to be combined. (4) Cle ar Tapping on this button will clear up th e definition of the selected Hot Cell, so there is no action will be taken when the Hot Cell is tapped later on.
36 5. Pressure (1) Pre ssure T est There are f our dif ferent colors for selecting and the pressure sensitivity of the pen tablet can be adjusted i n t his t ab. There is a test are a t o s ee t he thickness of a li ne by pressi ng a c ertain pressure of pen tip on the tablet pad.
37 (3) Clic k Sensitivity By default setting, tapping with the pen tip is equiv alent to a left click o f a mouse. Move the slider in the sensitivity bar to adjust the response of the pen tip. Light means when presse s the pen tip that will be reacted very quickly w ith a slight power , but the heavy function is opposite.

39 Holding the Pen Hold the d igital pen a s you would ho ld a p encil. Keep the buttons of the pen close to your index finger or thumb so that you can click the button easily . When the pen i s not in use, place it in the pen stand or lay it flat on y our desk.
40 Working Ar ea W orking area is the area of the tablet that can sense the mov ement of the digital pen. The working a rea of the tabl et corresponds with the screen of your PC. The cursor in the screen a rea indicates p en position, and the cursor follows the movement of the pen.
41 Positioning Use the di gital pen to posi tion the cur sor on y our PC screen. The distance between the pen tip and the tablet surface must be less than 10mm so that the tablet can sense the mov ement / l ocation of the pen. The cursor locati on on the screen corresponds wi th the l ocation of your p en tip on the tablet.
42 Clicking One Click : T apping the pen tip once on the tablet surface within the working area performs a click. A “Cli ck” is used to select somethi ng. Double C lick : A double tap w ith the pen tip in the working area performs a double -click.
43 Dragging T o dr ag an obje ct, simply point to and c lick on the object (to highlight the object), then move the pen ti p to the locati on you w ant to dr ag to.
44 Pressure C ontrol The tablet comes w ith dr awing applications that support pressure sensitivi ty , so you can change the thickness of the line you draw with different pressure, just as if you were using a real pen or pencil. T o dra w with pressure sensitivi ty , first select a pressure-sensitive tool from your application ’ s tool bar .

49 Installing Tablet So ftware 1. Open your computer and start the W indows. 2. Place the CD disc into the CD/DVD ROM driver and the installation program will be automatically activated (See figure to the right). Select “ T ablet Software Se tup”, and press the “Enter” key to start the T ablet S oftware in stallation.
50 W hen you run the installation with W indows Vista /7 , af ter you fin ish step 4, please wait until you see the message box (see f igure to the right) and select “This program installed correctly ”. After your compute r system has finished reading the data from the CD/DVD ROM, take the CD out and finish the installation.

56 Testing your device Please d o the following tests first to id entify y our problem. 1. Check the connectio n : After you connect the device to your computer , you should see a tablet icon in the system tray . If you do not see the icon, please follow these steps : (1) Make sure the USB cable is properly connected to a USB port.
57 means the hardware is OK. If it does not work, try replacing the battery. (c) After changing the pen’s battery, if it is still not working, th is means there is a n e rror with the hardware. (4) Download the latest version of th e driver dire ctly from our of ficial website.
58 FAQ Question : Why is the LED of the tablet blinking continuously ? Answer : It m eans that the USB port on your P C has a bad connection or the power supply is not stable. Please re-plug in your USB again. If th e problem p ersists, try changing to another USB p ort .
59 Question : Why can ‘ t I select K-W ordInk or K-Command to install during installation ? Answer : Be cause both K-WordInk and K-Command are fo r W indows 2000 or XP version only .
