13 Hooking Up and Setting Up the Speaker System Speaker impedance T o enjoy multi channel surround, connect fr ont, center , and rear speakers with a nominal impedance of 8 ohms or higher , and set the speaker IMPEDANCE SELECTOR to “8 Ω .” Check the instruction manual supplied with your speakers if you’re not sur e of their impedance.
14 Hooking Up and Setting Up the Speaker System Depending on the shape of your room (etc.), you may wish to place the rear speakers behind you instead of on the side walls. One advantage of this placement is that you can use a pair of large floor standing speakers matching your front speakers.
