Getting Started 4 Getting Started Step 1 Unpacking Check that you have received the following items with the VCR: Checking your model name The instructions in this manual are for the 5 models: SL V -SE70NP1, SE70NP2, SE70VC1, SE70VC2, and SX70VC. Check your model number by looking at the rear panel of your VCR.

7 Getting Started Getting Started Notes • W ith normal use, the batteries should last about three to six months. • If you do not use the remote commander for an extended period of time, r emove the batteries to avoid possible damage from battery leakage.

Getting Started 10 Step 3 : Connecting the VCR (continued) If your TV has a EURO-A V (Scart) connector 1 Disconnect the aerial cable from your TV and connect it to AERIAL IN on the rear panel of the VCR. 2 Connect AERIAL OUT of the VCR and the aerial input of your TV using the supplied aerial cable.

W ith this function, you can set the language for the on-screen display , TV channels, guide channels for the ShowV iew system, and VCR clock automatically .

67 Additional Operations Sear ching using the index function The VCR marks the tape with an index signal at the point where each r ecording begins. Use these signals as refer ences to find a specific recor ding. = / + INDEX SEARCH 1 Insert an indexed tape into the VCR.
Additional Operations 68 Adjusting the pictur e Adjusting the tracking Although the VCR automatically adjusts the tracking when playing a tape (the indicator flashes in the display window , then goes off), distortion may occur if the tape was recor ded in poor condition.

Notes • Y ou can adjust the tracking for the NTSC-recor ded tape but the tracking meter won’t be displayed. • W ith the Auto Long Play function on, the OPC function will work only in SP mode.
