Connect the TV as shown on the right. If you want to use the T rinitron TV Synchro Play function (see page 33), this connection is necessary .
Getting Started 10 Step 4 T uning your TV to the VCR If you have connected your VCR to the TV using the audio/video cable, skip this step. 1 Press 1/u ON/ST ANDBY to turn on the VCR. 2 Press RF CHANNEL on the VCR. The factory-preset RF channel flashes in the display window for about three seconds.

Getting Started 16 Pr esetting channels (For SL V -EZ44AZ/EZ22AZ only) If you can receive no channels or only a few channels after performing the EASY G-CODE SET UP function (page 14), preset all receivable channels automatically using the One T ouch T uning function or the TUNER PRESET menu.

When no more receivable channels can be found, presetting stops and the pictur e from the lowest numbered channel is displayed on the TV screen.

Getting Started 22 Disabling unwanted programme positions After presetting channels, you can disable unused pr ogramme positions. The disabled positions will be skipped later when you press the PROG +/ – buttons. (For SL V -EZ44AZ/EZ22AZ only) Y ou can also disable unwanted programme positions using the SET UP CH AND G-CODE menu (page 28).
23 Getting Started Getting Started PLAY OK MENU Setting up the G-CODE system manually (SL V - EZ44AZ/EZ22AZ only) The G-CODE system is a feature in Sony VCRs that simplifies programming the VCR to make timer recor dings. First, we recommend that you set up the G-CODE guide channels for your area using the EASY G-CODE SET UP function (page 14).

25 Getting Started Getting Started Setting up the G-CODE system for satellite broadcasts (if applicable) When your satellite tuner is connected via the AERIAL IN connector , first you have to set the programme position for each satellite channel using the TUNER PRESET menu.
Getting Started 26 Changing/ disabling pr ogramme positions (SL V - EZ44AZ/EZ22AZ only) After setting the channels and G-CODE guide channels, you can change the programme positions as you like. If any programme positions ar e unused or contain unwanted channels, you can disable them.

35 Basic Operations Basic Operations LP APC 4 Press SP/LP to select the tape speed, SP or LP . LP (Long Play) provides recording time twice as long as SP (Standard Play), however , SP produces better pictur e and audio quality . 5 Press z REC to start recor ding.

37 Basic Operations Basic Operations SP STOP APC PROGRAM +/– Recording TV pr ogrammes using the Easy Timer function The Easy T imer function allows you to make a timer r ecording of a pr ogramme without turning on your TV .

A programme number flashes. 5 T urn the EASY TIMER knob clockwise or counterclockwise to select the programme you want to r ecor d.

Additional Operations 52 SEARCH Searching the beginning of an Easy Timer r ecor ded pr ogramme If you r ecor d a pr ogramme using the Easy T imer function, you can easily find the beginning of the recor ding with this SEARCH function. The SEARCH indicator flashes when the VCR finishes the Easy T imer r ecor ding.
Additional Operations 53 SEARCH INDEX 8 Sear ching using the index function The VCR marks the tape with an index signal at the point wher e each recording begins. Use these signals as refer ences to find a specific r ecording. The VCR can search up to 99 index signals ahead of or behind the curr ent position.
