6 Precautions Carefully read the supplied instructions before use. Retain them for future refer ence. This product has been designed with the highest concern for safety. However, any electrical device, if used improperly, has the potential for causing fire, electri cal shock or personal injury.
7 Precautions Bef ore use • Do not touch or insert foreign objects into the connectors of the system or accessor ies. • Do not touch the system or AC Adaptor for an extended period of time while in use. Depending on the conditions of us e, the system or the AC Adaptor may reach temperatur es of 40° C or more.
8 Precautions • Do not leave still images displaye d on the screen for an extended period of time. This may cause a fai nt image to be left pe rmanently on the screen. Do not touch the "pickup" located inside the disc cover of the system. Touching the pickup may damage the system.
9 Precautions Bef ore use • Put both the PSP ® s ystem and the Remote Control in Hold Mode to help prevent unintended operation. Use the PSP ® system an d accessories according t o the instructions in this manual .
10 About the battery • Do not attempt to remove the analog stick from the system fr ont, as doing so will damage the system and may result in injur y. • For best results, go to (Settings) (System Settings), and then with the "System I nformation" screen dis played, rotate the analog stick in a circular motion.
11 About the battery Bef ore use • Do not throw or drop the Battery Pack or subject it to strong physical shock. • Do not put h eavy objects on or apply pressure t o the Battery Pack. • Do not allow the Battery Pack t o come into contact with liquids.
12 Compatible media • The Battery Pack life span va ries depending on how it is stored, the conditions of use a nd environmental factors, such as te mperature. • For safety reas ons, turn off the system and r emove the power cord from the electrical outlet and disc onnect any other c ables before replacing the B attery Pack.
13 Compatible media Bef ore use *3 To use Memory Stick Mic ro™ media, you must firs t insert it into an M2 Duo-siz e adaptor. If the Mem ory Stick Micr o™ is insert ed directly into the system, it may not be able to be ejected. Hints • The standard- size Memory Stick™ cannot be u sed with the syst em.

15 Before requesting service T roub leshoot ing Black or conti nuously lit pixels o n the screen do not disappear . , LCD screens are made with highly pr ecise technology, but in some cases, black (dark) pixels or continuously lit pixels may appear on the screen.
16 Before requesting service The system does not re cognise th e UMD. , Slide the P OWER/HOLD switch up and hold it for at lea st three seconds until t he POWER indicator tur ns off. Power wil l be completely cut off. After that, turn the system back on.
17 Before requesting service T roub leshoot ing Images do not disp lay. , Depending on the image data size, certain images are not viewable. , If images a re edited using a PC, they may not be viewable. The system does not r ecognise an image file. , Check that the data is saved in the correct folder on the Memor y Stick Duo™.
18 Before requesting service The date a nd time are r eset. , If the battery is not recharged and runs out, or if the Battery Pack is replaced, the system date and time settings may be r eset. Follow the on-screen instructions to set the time and date.

The system software pre-installed on the PSP ® system is licensed to you, not sold, and is for use only as part of the PSP ® syst em.
