However , th e LINE jack is for connecting to a telephon e line that comes fro m the wall, and the TELEPHONE jack is for connecting the com puter to a telephone.

Removing, Installing, and Replacing Components 31 Replacing the Lithium Battery Y ou may need to replace the lithium battery if your computer cons istently loses the date or tim e settings a fter turning it o f f. The li thiu m battery has a typical life of thr ee years, after which the battery may be too weak to power the CMOS memory .

Y ou may also need to disconnect some cables. 9 Insert a small flathead scr ewdriver into the small space a t the top of the battery holder .

Removing, Installing, and Replacing Components 35 7 Align the module o ver the appropriate socket, not ing the location of pin 1 on the module an d pin 1 on the socket. 8 Care fully but firm ly insert the edge of the module into the socket. 9 Press down firmly and evenly at both co rners until the module is fully seated.
V AIO Dig ital Studio Re ference Manual 36 12 Reconnect the power co rd an d turn on the c omputer . Y our computer au tom atically recognizes the extra mem ory and will configure itself accordingly when you turn on the computer . No further action is required.
Removing, Installing, and Replacing Components 37 Removing a Memory Module Y ou may need to r emove a memory module if you change the m emory configuration o r replace a bad module. 13 Remove the cover ( see “Removing the Cover” on page 22). 14 Locate the memory module you wish to r emove.

If air escapes, the components inside th e computer cannot be pr operly cooled. This may dama ge so me component s, especially the main processor (which generates the most heat).
Removing, Installing, and Replacing Components 41 Installing a 3½” Internal Hard Disk Drive Y our system com es with a n a v ai lable bay to ho ld an additi on al 3½” hard disk drive. The drive you install m ust n ot requir e front panel access.
V AIO Dig ital Studio Re ference Manual 42 5 Slide the drive holder forwar d (B), and then out. 6 Place the drive holder on top of the power supply . 7 Slide the new drive into the drive h older and align the holes on each side of the d rive hold er .
Removing, Installing, and Replacing Components 43 10 Connect the second power connector to the new drive. 11 Make sur e the drive connector is connected securely to the motherboar d. 12 Lower the drive ho lder down and slide it back into th e chassis (A in next diagram).

Y our computer automatically reco gnizes the new drive and configur es itself accordingly wh en you turn it on . Format and part itio n the new drive following the instru ctions provided w ith the drive.

Stor e for futur e use. 7 Slide the drive into the drive bay until the h oles on each side of the drive align with the holes on each side of the chassis.
Removing, Installing, and Replacing Components 47 8 Secur e the drive with four scr ews (pro vided with new drive). Do not overtighten the scr ews. 9 Attach the drive connector a nd power cable to the drive. Make sure the drive connector is conn ected securely to the m otherboar d.

53 Chapter 4 System Board This chapter identifies each component on the system board and provides a detailed description of each connector , jumper , and switch on the system board.
V AIO Dig ital Studio Re ference Manual 54 Connectors Front Panel Header (J25) The fr ont panel header is a 20-pin header ( 1 pin is r emoved for the key) that pr ovides connections to various fr ont panel functions. A 20 -pin connector with o nly eight wires is used to interface the system board to the fr ont panel.

Miscellaneous Technical Informa tion 91 Beep Code Error Messages During a no rma l bootup, a sing le short beep signif ies that the sys tem is OK. Other beep pattern s signify err ors. The number o f beeps indicates the specific erro r that occurr ed.
