15 Prepar ations Connecting to a TV You can view stored images on a TV. If you have a TV with a component connection, you can enjoy clearer images by using the supplied comp onent video c able. 1 Connect th e unit to a TV u sing the sup plied cable as illustra ted.
16 To connect to an extern al audio device If the unit is connected to an external audio device, you can listen to music through the au dio dev ice durin g a sli de show. Connect the audio cable (not supplied) to the Audio IN of the unit, then connect the other end to the LINE OUT of your audio device.
17 Prepar ations Turning on the Unit 1 Switch t he inpu t sele ctor of t he TV. 2 Pres s the " / 1 (po wer) switc h of the unit or remote c ontrol. The " / 1 (power) switch of the unit lights up in green when the unit is turned on. When the unit turns on for the first time, the date and time setting display will appear.

21 Copy ing Image s to the Unit Insert ing a Compac tFlash (CF)/M icrodr ive Open the front co ver a nd insert th e CF/M icrodriv e all the way into the s lot, a s illustrated . The CF/Microdrive access lamp lights up when the CF/Microdrive is detected.
22 Copying Images fr om Memory Card You can copy images from memory card s to the HDD by a simple press of the COPY button. 1 Press the " / 1 (power ) switch to turn on the unit. 2 Open the f ront cover and ins ert a memo ry card i nto the uni t.
23 Copy ing Image s to the Unit To stop copying Select [CANCEL], then press while copying. To verify the remaining capacit y of the HDD See [Information] (p age 50) of “Setting List”. Folder name and image st orage locations When you copy images fro m a memory card to the HDD, all images are sto red in an automatically created folder.

26 Speci fying a shootin g date to dis play in the Calend ar scre en You can specify a shooting date of images in the Calendar scr een by entering a date. This is useful when you want to view images taken some years ago. 1 Display the Calend ar screen , then p ress MENU.
27 Viewing Ima ges 4 Sele ct [OK] using the < / , / M / m button s, then pr ess . The Calendar screen including the selected date appears. To close the menu list Press MENU.
28 Selecting Images by Folder You can search for an image by selecting the folder f rom the Folder screen. 1 Select [Fo lder] in the Home menu u sing the M / m buttons, then press . The Folder screen appears. To dis play th e next or pre vious page, press P AGE UP /DOWN .

32 Zooming I mages You can zoom a displayed image in or out. For details o n how to display an image, see pages 24 and 28. 1 Display an image t o zoom in full s creen, then press . The image z ooms in. While pressing the button, th e zoom size is displayed on the screen.
33 Viewing Ima ges Rotating Images You can rotate the displayed image. For details on how to display an image, see page s 24 and 28. 1 Display an im age to ro tate in full scree n, then press M ENU. The menu list appears. 2 Select [Rota te] using the < / , / M / m bu ttons, then press .
34 Hin ts • The info rmatio n of the rota ted imag e is retain ed even when you go back to the Thumbn ail screen. • The unit automati cally d uplicat es an imag e to ro tate. Th e origin al imag e is saved by changin g the file exte nsion to “OR G” when you rotate it.
35 Viewing Ima ges Playing a Slid e Show You can enjoy viewing selected images as a slide show. 1 Sele ct a folde r to dis play a s a sli de show in the Folder s creen, then pres s . The Slide Show screen appears. 2 Sele ct [Play ] usin g the M / m buttons , then p ress .
36 Selec ting mu ltiple image s or fol ders When multiple images or folders have been set, you can operate without selecting images or folders individually. This is useful when you wan t to delete images or folders, or play a slide show, etc. 1 Display the Thum bnail or Folder s creen, th en pres s MENU.
37 Managing Imag es B Managin g Images Registering Images to a Group You can reg ister images to a group to m ake searching fo r an imag e easier. You can also play a slide show of a registered group. 1 Display the Thu mbnail or Folde r screen. 2 Sele ct an ima ge to r egister using the < / , / M / m buttons , then press ME NU.

44 Displaying Image or Folder Information You can display the file name, file size, shooting date, etc., o f an image or folde r. 1 Display the Thum bnail or Folder s creen. 2 Select th e image or fold er using the < / , / M / m buttons , then press M ENU.
45 Managing Imag es Sorting Images by Sh ooting Date When you copy images from a memory card to the HDD, all the images are stored in the automatically c reated folder named according to the most r ecent shooting date of the images. Using the [Date Sort] function , you can sort images into corresponding shooting date folders.

47 Managing Imag es Exporting Images or a Folder to a Memory Ca rd You can export the data in the HDD to a memory card. 1 Insert a memory card in to the u nit. 2 Display the Thu mbnail or Folde r screen. 3 Select the ima ge or fol der to ex port usi ng the < / , / M / m buttons, t hen pres s MEN U.
48 Hin ts • When you want to exp ort mu ltiple imag es, the [ Selec t] func tion m ay be useful. To sel ect multiple images, see page 36 . Multiple folders cannot be exported . • When mult iple memor y cards ar e insert ed, the left side memory car d has prio rity to b e recogn ized .
49 Setting Up the Unit B Setting Up the Unit How to Set Up the Unit The section explains how to set up the unit on th e [Settings] screen. For details on settings options, see “Setting List” (page 50). 1 Sele ct [Setting s] in the Home menu using the M / m buttons, then press .
50 Setting List You can set up the following options. Information Display the total capacity, utilized capacity, and free capacity of the HDD. Slide Show You can set a special effect and music for a slide show. For details on the slide show, see “Playing a Slide Show” (page 35).
51 Setting Up the Unit Auto Date Sort Set whether to sort image s by shooting date automatically after copying from a memory card to the HDD is completed.
52 B Connec ting to a Comp uter Prepar ing the Unit and Computer Recommended Com puter Environment The unit can be used with computers that run the following preinstalled operating systems and equipped with USB ports.
53 Conn ect ing to a Com puter Copying Data to a Computer By connecting the unit to a computer, data on the HDD of the unit can be mana ged by the c omp uter . To illustrate, this section explains how to copy da ta from the HDD of the unit to the “My Documents” folder of a comput er runnin g Wind ows XP.
