11 Basic t echniques for better images A digital ima ge is made up of a colle ction of small dots called pixels. If i t contai ns a lar ge number of pi xels, th e image b ecomes large, i t take s up more memory, and the imag e is displ ayed in fin e detail.

21 Changi ng th e scree n disp lay Each time you pre ss v (DISP) on the control but ton, the display changes as follows: • If you view images in bright outside light , adjust the brightness of the LCD backlight up. However, the battery power may decrea se faster under such condition.

26 Shoo ting image s (Auto Ad justme nt mode) 3 Shoot with the shutter butto n. When shoo ting stil l images: 1 Press and hold th e shutter button half way down to foc us. The z (AE /AF lock) indicator (green) flashes, a beep sounds, the indicato r stops flashing and remains lit.

33 Bas ic Op erat ion s Shooting still image s (Scene Selection) z Hints for b etter captu ring of smiles 1 Do not cover the eyes with the bangs. 2 Try to orient the face in front of the camera and be as level as poss ible. The detection rate is higher when the eyes are nar rowed.
34 View ing images 1 Press (Playback) button. • If you press (Playbac k) button when the camera is powered off, the camera is turned on automatica lly and set to pla yback mode. To s witch to the shooting m ode, press (P layback) button again. 2 Select an image with b / B on the contro l button.

36 Viewing st ill images as a sl ideshow Images are au tomatical ly pla yed back in su ccessi on alon g with effects and musi c. 1 Press (Slideshow) button. The setup scr een appears. 2 Press (Slideshow) button again . The slideshow starts. • The setting is maintaine d until it is changed.

38 Viewi ng still imag es as a slide show z To add / change Music files You can transfer a desired music file from your CDs or MP3 files to the camera to playb ack during slideshow. You can transfer music using [ Music Tool] in (Slideshow) on the HOME screen and the “Music Transfer” software (supplied) installed on a computer.

Turn of f both the cam era and the TV before c onnecting t he camera to the TV.

84 Installin g the software (supplied) After you ins tall t he sof tware, the sho rt cut icons for “Pic ture Motion Browser” , “PMB Gu ide”, “M usic Tran sfer” are created on th e desktop. Doubl e-clic k to start “Pic ture Moti on Browser”.
85 Using your comp uter On the “P icture Mot ion Brow ser” (su pplied) You can use still im ages and movie s from the ca mera mor e than ev er by t aking advant age of the soft ware.
86 On th e “Pictu re Motio n Browser ” (suppl ied) • On termination of the operation of Sony server, the termin ation will be informed of beforehand on Sony websites, etc. • The URL redirected to by So ny server, etc., may be recorded for improving future Sony pro ducts and services .
87 Using your comp uter Copyi ng imag es to your co mputer using the “Pictu re Motio n Brow ser” 1 Insert a “M emory Stick Duo ” with recorded images i nto the camera.
88 Copy ing images to your com puter us ing the “P icture Motion Br owser” 1 Connects the cam era to a computer as described in “Connecting the camera to your computer”. After mak ing a USB c onnecti on, the [Import Medi a Files] screen of “Pic ture Motion Browser” appears autom atic ally.
