14 Number of images and battery life that can be recorded/ viewed The tabl es show the a pproximat e number o f images an d the battery life that ca n be record ed/vie wed when y ou shoot images in normal mode wit h a ful ly charged ba ttery pack a t a tempera ture of 25°C ( 7 7°F).

Conn ect t he plug with the v mark facing up. • Connect the A C Adaptor to an easily accessible wall outlet (wall socket) close by .
16 Turni ng on/off your camera , Press t he POW ER button. The POWE R lamp (g reen) li ghts u p and the powe r is on. When yo u turn on your camera for th e firs t time, the Clock Set screen appear s (p age 17). Turning off th e power Press the PO WER bu tton again.

24 Auto Focus When y ou try to shoot a subjec t that is diff i cult to f o cus on , the A E /AF lo c k indica t or ch anges to fla shi ng slowly. The A uto Focus fu nction m ay have diffic ulty w or king under t he followi ng conditio ns. In such cases, r elease th e shutter butto n , then recomp ose th e shot and focus again.

26 Zoom Your ca m er a is equipped w i th z oom functions that enl arge the image using optical zoom and two typ es of di gi ta l processi ng. Digi t al zoo m c an be sel ecte d from smart zoom or prec ision digital zoom. When dig ital z oom is se t, the zoom met hod switches f rom optica l zoom to digital zoom when the zoo m sc ale ex ceed s 3×.
27 Shooti ng st ill ima ges Shooting close-ups — Macro The close -ups (Macro) reco rding mode is used wh en zooming up subjects such as flowers o r insect s. Setting th e zoom al l the way to the W side lets you shoo t subjects at dista n ces as clo s e as 8 cm.
