14 — Getting started — Using this manual As you read through this manual, buttons and settings on your camcorder are shown in capital letters. e.g. Set the POWER switch to CAMERA. When you carry out an operation, you can hear a beep sound to indicate that the operation is being carried out.

18 To remove the battery pack The battery pack is removed in the same way as the battery terminal cover. Note on the battery terminal cover To protect the battery terminals, install the battery terminal cover after the battery pack is removed.

While charging the battery pack, the CHARGE lamp flashes in the following cases: – The battery pack is not installed correctly.

31 Recording – Basics Запись – Основные положения If you leave your camcorder in the standby mode for five minutes while the cassette is inserted Your camcorder automatically turns off. This is to save battery power and to prevent battery and tape wear.
32 Adjusting the LCD screen The LCD panel moves about 90 degrees to the viewfinder side and about 180 degrees to the lens side. When closing the LCD panel, set it vertically, and swing it into the camcorder body. Note When using the LCD screen except in the mirror mode, the viewfinder automatically turns off.

With digital-to- digital connection, video and audio signals are transmitted in digital form for high-quality editing.
98 You can connect one VCR only using the i.LINK cable (DV connecting cable) See page 166 for more information about i.LINK. The following functions do not work during digital editing: – Picture effect – Digital effect – PB ZOOM If you record playback pause picture with the DV jack The recorded picture becomes rough.

100 Dubbing only desired scenes – Digital program editing Notes • You cannot dub the titles, display indicators, or the contents of cassette memory. • When you connect with an i.LINK cable (DV connecting cable), you may not be able to operate the dubbing function correctly, depending on the VCR.
Editing Монтаж 101 ( 1 ) Setting the IR SETUP code 1 Set the POWER switch to VCR on your camcorder. 2 Turn the power of the connected VCR on, then set the input selector to LINE. When you connect a video camera recorder, set its power switch to VCR/VTR.
102 About the IR SETUP code The IR SETUP code is stored in the memory of your camcorder. Be sure to set the correct code, depending on your VCR. Default setting is code number 3.

106 Step 3: Adjusting the synchronicity of the VCR You can adjust the synchronicity of your camcorder and the VCR. Prepare a pen and paper for notes. Before operation, eject a cassette from your camcorder. ( 1 ) Set the POWER swtich to VCR on your camcorder.

Notes • When you complete step 3, the image to adjust the syncronicity is recorded for about 50 seconds. • If you start recording from the very beginning of the tape, the first few seconds of the tape may not be recorded properly.
108 Operation 1: Making the Programme ( 1 ) Insert the tape for playback into your camcorder, and insert a tape for recording into the VCR. ( 2 ) Press FN to display PAGE1.

110 Dubbing only desired scenes – Digital program editing Operation 2: Performing a Digital program editing (Dubbing a tape) Make sure your camcorder and the VCR are connected, and that the VCR is set to recording pause. When you use an i.LINK cable (DV connecting cable) the following procedure is not necessary.
Editing Монтаж 111 Using with an analog video unit and your computer – Signal convert function You can capture images and sound from an analog video unit connected to your computer which has the i.LINK jack (DV jack) to your camcorder. Before operation Set DISPLAY to LCD in the menu settings.
112 After capturing images and sound Stop capturing procedures on your computer, and stop the playback on the analog video unit. Notes • You need to install software which can exchange video signals.

114 Recording video or TV programmes When you have finished dubbing a tape Press x on both your camcorder and the VCR. If your VCR is a monaural type Connect the yellow plug of the A/V connecting cable to the video output jack and the white or the red plug to the audio output jack on the VCR or the TV.
Editing Монтаж 115 Recording video or TV programmes Using the i.LINK cable (DV connecting cable) Simply connect the i.LINK cable (DV connecting cable) (optional) to DV jack of your camcorder and to DV jack of the DV products. With digital- to-digital connection, video and audio signals are transmitted in digital form for high-quality editing.
116 When you have finished dubbing a tape Press x on both your camcorder and the VCR. You can connect one VCR only using the i.LINK cable (DV connecting cable). When you dub a picture in digital form The colour of the display may be uneven. However, this does not affect the dubbed picture.
