Conn ect t he plug with the v mark facing up. • Connect the A C Adapt or to an eas ily accessible wall outlet (wall socket) close by .
16 Turni ng on/off your camera , Press t he POWER button. The POWE R lamp (gre en) li ghts u p an d the powe r is on. When yo u turn on your camera for th e firs t time, the Clock Set screen appear s (pa ge 17). Turning off th e power Press the PO WER bu tton again.

22 Basic still image shootin g — Using auto adjustment mode , Set th e mode s witch to , and turn on the pow er. The name of t he folder whe re the image will be reco rded appe ars on t he LCD sc reen f or approxima tely five sec onds. • This camera can create new folders and select folders to be stored in th e “Memory Stick Duo” (page 45).

The image will be reco rded in th e “Memor y Stick Duo.” Whe n “Rec ording” disapp ears from the LCD screen , you can shoot the next im age. • The frame indica ted on the LCD s creen sho ws the focus adjustment range (AF range finder, page 47).
24 Auto Focus When y ou try to shoot a subjec t that is diff icult to focu s on, t he AE/A F loc k indica tor changes t o flashing slow ly. The A uto Focus fu nction m ay have diffic ulty working und er the foll owing conditio ns. In such cases, r elease th e shutter butto n , t hen recomp ose t he sho t and focus again.

26 Zoom Your ca mera is equippe d with zoom functions that enl arge the image using optical zoom and two typ es of digital processi ng. Digital zoom can be selected from smart zoom or prec ision digital zoom. When dig ital z oom is set, the z oom metho d switches f rom optica l zoom to digital zoom when the zoo m sc ale ex ceed s 3×.
27 Shooti ng still images Shooting close-ups — Macro The close -ups (Macro) reco rding mode is used wh en zooming up subjects such as flowers o r insect s. Setting th e zoom al l the way to the W side lets you shoo t subjects at dista n ces as close as 8 cm.
