6 Notes on usi ng your camer a T ypes of “Me mor y Stick ” that can be used (not supp lie d) The IC recor ding med ium used by this camera is a “ Memory S tick Du o”. The re are two types o f “Mem ory Stick”. “Memo ry Stick Duo”: you ca n use a “Memo ry Stick Duo” with y our camera.
7 Notes on the LC D screen and lens • The LCD screen is manufactured using extremely high-precision technol ogy so over 99.4% of the pi xels are operational for effectiv e use. Ho wever , there may be some tiny black points and/or bright points (white, red, blue or green in col or) that constantly appear on the LCD screen.

13 Enjoyin g the came ra Y ou can create various image s by adjusting the exposu re and the ISO se nsitivity . Exp osure is the am ount of light t hat the camera will re ceiv e when you re lease th e shutter .
14 Adjusti ng the ISO s ensitivi ty ISO is unit of m easuremen t (sensitivity), estima ting how much light an image picku p device (equ i valent to photo films) rece ives. Even when the expos ure is th e same , image s differ depe ndin g on th e ISO sens itivity .
15 Enjoyin g the came ra A digital ima ge is made up of a colle ction of small dots ca lled pixels. If it contains a lar ge number of pix els, th e picture becomes l arge, it tak es up mo re memory , and the ima ge is displaye d in fine detail. “Image size” is shown by the number of pixels.

55 Using y our com puter • When an image with the same file name exists in the copy destination folder, the overwrite confirmation message appea rs. When you overwrite an existing image with a new one, the or iginal file data is deleted.

71 Connecting yo ur camera to your T V On TV colo r systems If you w ant to vi ew im ages on a TV scre en, you need a TV with a vide o input jack and the A/V cabl e.
72 T rou bleshooti ng T roubl eshoot ing If you experienc e trouble with you r camera, try th e following solutions. Please understan d that you give your consen t that the contents of the in ternal m emory ma y be checked w hen you send your ca mera to be re paired.
73 T r oubleshooting The batte ry remaining ind icator is inco rrect, or sufficient battery remai ning indicat or is di spla yed b ut the pow er runs ou t too qui ckl y . • Th is phenomenon occurs when you use the camera in an extremel y hot or cold locatio n (page 88) .
74 Y our camera cannot record images. • Check t he free capac ity of the in ternal me mory or “ Memory S tick Duo” (p age 23) . If it is fu ll, do one of the following: – D elet e unn eces sary im ages . – C hange the “Memory S tick Duo”.
75 T r oubleshooting The flash does not work. • The flash is set to (Flash force d off). • Y ou cannot use the flas h when: – [Mode] (REC Mode) i s set to [Bu rst] (page 3 2). – (T wilight mode) or (Candle mo de) is selected in the Scene Selecti on.
76 V ertical s treaks appear when you are shootin g a very brig ht subject. • The smea r phenome non is o ccurring. This phe nomenon is not a malfunct ion.
77 T r oubleshooting The image d oes not appear on the TV screen. • Che ck [V ideo Ou t] to s ee if the video out put signa l of you r camera i s set to t he color system of your T V (page 47). • Check whether the con nection i s correct (page 70) .
78 Y ou do not know i f the OS of your computer is compatible with the camera. • Check “R ecommende d computer environment” on pag e 49 for W indows, and page 62 for Macintosh. Y our computer does not recognize y our camera. • T urn on t he camera.
79 T r oubleshooting Y ou cannot print an image. • Check the pr inter se ttings . Images once cop ied to a computer cannot be viewed on the camera. • Copy the m to a folder rec ognized by the camera, suc h as “101MSDCF” (page 56). • Operate correctl y (page 57).
80 Y ou have formatted a “Memor y Stick Duo” by mistake . • All the data on the “Memory Stic k Duo” is delete d by formatting. Y ou cannot r estore it. W e recommend that you s et the wr ite-protect s witch on the “Me mory Stic k Duo” t o the LOCK position to pr ev ent accid ental erasure (page 86).
81 T r oubleshooting Also see “PictBrid ge complia nt printe r” (as follo ws) in conjunct ion with th e follo wing items. Images are printed with both edges cut off. • Whe n printin g images using your own printe r , try cance ling the trimm ing or borderless settin gs.
82 “---- -- --” is printed on the da te-inserted part of the image . • Images th at do not hav e the recording d ata canno t be printed wi th the da te inser ted. Set [Dat e] to [Of f] an d print the imag e again (page 67). Cannot sele ct the print size.
83 T r oubleshooting The Clock Set screen ap pears when you turn on the camera. • Se t the date and ti me again . Camera power is turned off automatically w hen you open the battery/“Memor y Stick Duo” cover . • Th is is not a malfun ction. Turn off the came ra before you open th e battery/“M emory Stick Du o” cove r.

86 Others On the “M emor y St ick” A “Memor y Stic k” is a compact , por table IC record ing medium . The types of “Memo ry Stick” that ca n be used with this camera ar e listed in the tab le belo w . However , proper operatio n cannot be guar ante ed for all “M emor y Stick ” functions.
87 Others • Do not us e or store th e “Memory Stick Duo ” under the following conditions: – High temperature locations such as the hot interior of a car parked in direct sunlight – Locations.
