12 Turni ng on/off your camera There are followi ng two wa ys to turn on the camera. 1 Press POW ER. The POWER la mp light s in green and the powe r is on. When you turn on the cam era for the first time, the CL OCK SET screen appear s (page 14) . To turn off the p ower Press P OWER again, the POWER lamp goes out, and th e camera turns of f.
13 Getti n g star ted How to use t he control bu tton To chan ge th e curr ent sett ings of the camera, bring up the menu or th e SET UP screen (page 40), and use the co ntrol button to make t h e cha nges. 29 Shootin g still images NR slow shutt er The NR slow shutt er mode removes noise from recor ded images, providi ng cl ear images . When the scene selection m ode and shutter speed v alue are as follows, the camera auto matically enters the NR slow sh utter mode and “NR” is indicated next to the shutter sp eed indicator.

87 Troubleshoot ing “Memor y Stick” The image and sound are affected by noise when you pl ay back a mo vie on a computer. • You ar e play in g ba ck the movie direc tly from the “M emory Stick.” p Copy the mo vie to the h ard disk of the computer an d then play the mov ie file ba ck from the h ard disk (pages 7 3, 74, 75, and 79).
88 Others Symptom Cause Solut ion The camera does not work, no operation s can be performed. • You are not using an “InfoLI THIUM” batter y pack. • The battery level is low or zero (The indicator a ppears.). • The AC power adap tor is not connecte d secu rely.
89 Troubleshoot ing Warnings and messages The following me ssages appear on the L CD screen. Message Meaning/ Corrective Action NO MEMORY STICK • Insert a “Mem ory Stick” (page 16). SYSTEM ERROR • Turn the power off and on a gain (page 12). MEMORY STICK ERROR • Insert the “M emory Sti ck” correctly (page 16).
90 • The battery leve l is low or zero. Char ge the battery (pa ge 8). Depending on the conditi ons of use or the ty pe of battery pac k, the indic ator may flas h even though there are stil l 5 to 10 minutes of remaining bat tery time left. • You are not holding the cam era steadily enough.
91 Troubleshoot ing Self-diagnosis displ ay Your came ra has a self-dia gnosis display. This f unction display s the c ondition of th e camera on the LCD s creen using a combin ation o f a letter an d four nu merical digit s. If this occu rs, check t he followi ng code ch art and ta ke the corr esponding counte rmeasure.
