GB 12 Selecting the recording format for movies The camcor der is compat ible with the XA VC S format. What i s XAV C S? XAVC S is a recordin g format that allow s high-resoluti on images, such as 4K, t o be hig hly comp ressed w ith MP EG-4 A VC/H.

GB 16 Charging the battery using you r computer Turn off y our camcorder and connect th e camcorder to a run ning computer using the Buil t-in USB Cable (page 52). • Chang e the se tting of you r computer so that it would not e nter the sl eep (hibernation) state before charging your camcorder.

GB 18 Turning the power on • To tu rn off t he power , close t he LCD mo nitor. If the vi ewfinder is pulled out, retrac t it (model s with th e viewfinde r (FDR-AX33 /AXP33/AXP 35) only). • To set the date and time again , select [Setup] [C l o c k Settings] [Date & Ti me Setting].
GB 19 Getting st arted Inserting a memory card • To select a memory card as the recording medium, se lect [Setup] [ Media Settings] [Me dia Select] [Memory Card] (FDR-AX30/AXP35). • To e ject th e memory c ard, op en the co ver and lightly pu sh the mem ory card in o nce.
GB 20 Recording images in a format other than XAVC S To format the recording media • To ensure stable operation of the memory card, it is recommended to format the memory card with your camcorde r before the first use. • To format the memory card, select [Set up] [M e d i a Settings] [Format] desired reco rding medium .
GB 21 Recordi ng/Playback Rec ordin g/Pl ayba ck Recording • While re cording movies in the XAVC S 4K 100Mbps or XA VC S 4K 60Mbps format, vi deo signals (HDMI out put signal/A V cable output s ignal) are not output to e xternal m edia.
