8 What is a Vide o Cass ette Recorde r/DVD Reco rder? This is a DVD recorder with built- in VHS video deck, and all ows recordin g/playback o f DVD discs a nd VHS tapes. DVD editing i s also poss ible. Recording and timer re cording Record TV programmes on a DVD or VHS tap e, either ma nually or u sing the timer.
9 Creating your own pr ogramme - Playlist Recor d a prog ramme o n a DVD-RW (VR m ode) or DVD-R (VR mode), t hen erase, move, or add scenes as you like without chang ing the o riginal conten ts.
10 How to Use th e On-S creen Menus The followi ng three di splays are mainly used to operate th is record er. Onc e you become f amiliar with th e basic op eration s, you will find the reco rder eas y to use.

14 Step 3 : Conn ectin g to Yo ur TV Connecting to the L INE 2 OUT jacks Conne ct the supp lied aud io/vide o cord to t he LINE 2 OUT (V IDEO /AUDIO L/R) jack s of the reco rder. To enj oy hig her qu ality im ages, c onnect an S video co rd (no t sup plied) instead of th e yellow (vide o) plug.
15 Hookups and Settings Connecting to the SCART jack Connect to the LINE 1-TV jack us ing a SCA RT cord (n ot suppli ed). Be sure to make th e connect ions firml y t o avoi d hu m an d noi se. See the operating instr uctions supplied with the TV to be connected.
16 If your TV has an H DMI input ja ck Connect the HDM I* OUT ja ck using a cer tified HD MI cord (n ot suppli ed). You wi ll enjoy hi gh qualit y pictu re and sound. The HDM I indicator lights up on the front pa nel when t he recorder output s signals through th e HDMI OUT jack.

18 Step 4: Con nect ing to Your AV Am plifier (Rec eive r) Select one of the fo llowin g pattern s A or B , acc ording to th e input jack on your AV amplifier ( receiver). This wil l enable yo u to listen to sound th rough yo ur AV am plifier (r eceive r).

After you co n nect t he mains l e ad, you must wait for a short wh ile before operati ng the record er . You ca n operat e the recorder o n ly afte r the front panel displa y lights u p and the r ecorder enters standby m ode.
21 Hookups and Settings Controlling TVs wi th the remote You ca n adjust the remot e contr ol’s sign al to cont rol your TV. Notes • De pending on the TV, some or all of the buttons be low ma y not w ork fo r th e TV. • If you enter a new code number, the code number previousl y entered will be erased.

28 Connecting to the L INE 3/DECODER jack Connect anothe r VCR or similar recording device to t he LINE 3/DECODER jack using a SCART cord (not su pplied ). When you t urn on the connected equ ipm ent, t h e r ecorder auto matically s e nds the signal from the equipment t o the TV without turning itself o n.

73 VCR Playback VCR Playback Playi ng a VH S Tape 1 Press VIDEO to oper ate the VC R. 2 Inser t a tape. Playback starts a utomatica lly if you insert a tape with its safety tab re mo ved. 3 Press H (play). The fr ont pane l dis play sho ws the pl ayi ng time.
74 Adjusting the pi cture (tracking) You can manually adjust tra cking if the recordin g quality is too poor to be remedied by the VCR’s automatic tracking (a tracking meter ap pears during the automatic tracking). Press TRACKING +/–. The trac king meter appears.
75 VCR Playback Play back Op tions *1 Can be pressed up t o four times to forward about two mi nutes. *2 For 10 seconds in SP or LP mod e/for 15 seconds in EP mode. To resume normal pla yback, p ress H . Notes • The sound is mu ted during pl ayback at var ious speeds.
