Connecting the Homeplu g You can plug th e LN-554 di rectly into a wal l outl et. Switch th e device on wi th the power switch l ocated on the bottom of th e device. The LN - 554 automati cally enters the self -test phase. Durin g self-test ph ase, the Power LED w ill be lit conti nuously to i ndi cate that this product is in normal operation.
Homeplug networ k securi ty can be added by the steps bel ow: (NOTE: i t is more convenient to bri ng devices, whi ch are to be confi gured into the same l ogical network security, sid e by side duri ng this procedure.
If you want to mak e two new publi c devices (netwo rk name HomePl ugAV) to becom e private, please carry ou t Step 1 on both d evices, then d o step 2 on the se two devices. Finall y, a private random network name i s generated for these two de vices.
Configuring the device LOGIN procedur e 1. OPEN your browse r (e.g. Intern et Explorer). 2. Type http:// sitecom.plug in th e address bar and press [Ent er] 3. Type user name and pa ssword (defaul t username i s ‘admin’, the pass word can be found on the backl abel of the LN-5 54 ).
4. Click OK . 5. You will see the home page of the LN -5 54 . The System status section allows you to monitor the cur rent status of your LN -554, th e UP time, hardwa re informati on as well as firmware version i nformation i s displ ayed here.
Basic Setting s Band Please select th e wireless band y ou wish to use. By s electing a different band setti ng, you’ll be abl e to allow or deny the wi reless clients on a ce rtain band. MAIN ESSID Please inpu t the ESSID (the name us ed to identi fy this wirel ess access point) here.
ADVANCED S ETTINGS Security This device provi des many types of wi reless securi ty (wireless data encr yption). When you use data enc ryption, data trans ferred by ra dio sig nals in the air will become unreadable for those pe ople who don’t kn ow t he co rrect encryption ke y (encrypti on password).
WEP Key Length You can select the WEP key leng th for encryption, 64 - bit or 128-b it. The larger the key wil l be the hi gher level of securit y is used, but th e throughput wil l be lower.
WPA WPA Unicast Ci pher Suite Availabl e options are: WPA (TK IP), WPA2 (AE S), and WPA2 Mixed. You can select one of them , but you have to make sur e your wireless cli ent support s the cipher you selected.
Advanced This tab all ows you to set the advan ced wirele ss opti ons. The options incl uded are Channel Ban dwidth , Fragment Threshol d, RTS Threshol d, Beacon Interval , and Preamble Type. You should not change thes e parameters u nless you know what effect the chang es will have on the rout er.
Preamble Type Set the type of p reamble of wi reless radi o. The d efault setting is ‘Short Preamb le’. Broadcast ESS ID Decide if the wirel ess access poin t will broadcast its own ESSID or not.
OPS One Push Setup ( OPS) is the si mplest way to establi sh a connection between the wireless clients and the wi reless router. You d on’t have to sel ect the encrypti on mode and fi ll in a long encryption passph rase every ti me when you try to setup a wi reless conne ction.
Passphrase Key It shows the passphra se key that i s randomly g enerated by the wireless router du ring th e WPS process. You may need this informati on when usi ng a devi ce which doesn’t suppo rt WPS. WPS via Push Butto n Press the button t o start th e WPS process.
TOOLBOX SE TTINGS System This device provi des some control functi ons including password, IP address manag ement, and DHCP server functi on. Pleas e go to Toolbo x, and open the ‘Sy stem’ tab, to access these functions. B elow are detai led descri ptions of every control functi on.
Se ction for detail ed instructions. I f you don’t w ant to use t he DHCP server functi on of this devi ce , or there’s anothe r DHCP server on the network this d evice conn ec ts to, please select ‘Disabl e’. After y ou finish, please go t o the bottom of thi s page and cli ck ‘Apply’.
Backup You can back up al l confi gurations of this device t o a file, so you can m ake se veral copies of access point con figurati on for security reaso ns. Backup Settings Press ‘Save...’ button, and you’ll be prompted to download th e configurati on as a fil e.
Upgrade If there is a new firmware avai lable, you can up load the firmwar e to the device t o get extra functions or p roblem fixes. Click the ‘Browse’ but ton. You’l l be prompt ed to provide the fi lename of the firmware upgrade fil e. Please downl oad the latest firmwar e file from our w ebsite, and use i t to upgrade your devi ce.
Reset When you thi nk the devi ce is not worki ng properly, you can us e this functi on to restart the device; thi s may help and solve the p roblem. This functi on is useful when the devi ce is far from you or un reachable.
