THREADING INFORMATION FOR A 4-THRE AD ULTRA STRETCH MOCK SAFETY STITCH Threading the Green Upper Looper: Top Cover Thread Guide. Thread the top cover thread guide by slipping t he thread under the guide from right to left, and then pull t he thread under the small r ound disk from the right side.
Using tweezers slip the thread into the next three guides marked with small green dots. Thread the g uide that looks l ike a little pigt ail and then thread th rough the eye of the looper as shown. Pull th e thread tail to the back of the serger approximately 4 to 6 inches.
Thread Red Lower Looper: Top Cover Thread Guide Thread the top cover thread guide by slipping t he thread under the guide from right to left, and then pull t he thread under the small r ound disk from the right side. Lay thread through Red tensio n disk while holdin g the thread securely with both hands.
Tugging slight ly on the thre ad tail at the back of th e serger, push the threader lever all the way up to hook thread in to the eye at the ba ck of the looper.
Using tweezers slip the thread into the slot at the back of the thread guide, a nd then into th e next th ree guides marked with the small red dots. Thread the eye of the looper as shown, maki ng sure that the thread is positioned in the “V” cutout in front of the looper.
Lay thread through Blue tension disk while holding the thread securely with both hands. Next slip into guide directly below the te nsion from right to left. Slip the thread into the third slot clos est to the back and then up and over the take up lever slot.
Slip the thread into the thir d slot on the right next to the take-up lever, then into the third slot on the right in the guides just above th e needle clamp. Next slip the thread behind the meta l guide and then into the eye of the needle in B position, and then under what looks l ike a bridge at th e back of the foot.
Lay thread through Orange tension disk, while holding the thre ad securely with both hands. Next slip in to guide directly below the tension from right to left.
Slip the thread into the center slot next to the take-up lever, then into the center slot in the gu ides just ab ove the needle clamp. Next slip the thread b ehind the metal guide and then into the eye of the needle in A position, and then under what looks like a bridge at the back of th e foot .
THREADING INFORMATION FOR A NARROW 5 THREA D SAFETY STITCH Threading the Green Upper Looper: Thread the top cover thread guide by slipping t he thread under the guide from right to left, and then pull t he thread under the small r ound disk from the right side.
Lay thread through Green te nsion disk, while holding the thread securely with both hands. Next slip in to guide directly below the tension from right to left. Using tweezers slip the thread into the ne xt three guides mark ed with the small green dots.

Slip thread throug h front slot of threading guide. Using tweezers thread the next 4 guides identified with a small brown dot..
Using the tweezers thread the last thread guide that is located on the left just below the looper. Next thread the br own looper eye from front to back, pulling thread over the top of the red looper, then pu ll the thread tail to the back of the serger 4 to 6 inches.
Threading Blue Overedge Stitch Needle: Top Cover Thread Guide Thread the top cover thread guide by slipping t he thread under the guide from right to left, and then pull t he thread under the small r ound disk from the right side. Lay thread through Blue tension disk, whil e holding the thread securely with both hands.
Slip the thread into the third slot clos est to the back and then up and over the take-up lever slot. Slip the thread into the thir d slot on the right next to the take-up lever, then into the third slot on the right in the guides just above th e needle clamp.
Threading Orange Chain Stitch Needle: Top Cover Thread Guide Thread the top cover thread guide by slipping t he thread under the guide from right to left, and then pull t he thread under the small r ound disk from the right side. Lay thread through Orange tension disk, while holding the thre ad securely with both hands.
Slip the thread into the center slot and then up and over th e take-up lever slot. Slip the thread into the center slot next to the take-up lever, then into the center slot in the guides just above the needle clamp.
THREADING TIPS FOR 5-THREAD SAFETY STITCH: • Be sure to follow the thre ading sequence ou tlined above. • Make sure needles are se t-up in position s D, and B for 5-thread safety stitch.
THREADING INFORMATION FOR A TRIPLE COVER STITCH Disengage Moveable Upper Knife: Pull the holder (screw) as far as it will go to the right, a nd swing (turn) the knife down (counter-clockwise) until it clicks into resting posit ion.
Disengage the Upper Loo per: In order to attach the Cover Plate, yo u must first disengage the upper looper. Turn handwheel towards you until t he rectan gular white knob is as far right at possible.
To lower looper push the knob all the wa y to the left and th en push upwards. (To re-engage the loop er push the knob al l the way to the left and push it down.
Threading The Green Cover Stitch Needle: Top Cover Thread Guide Thread the top cover thread by slippi ng the thread unde r the guide from right to left, and then pull the th read under the small round disk from the right side.
Lay thread through Green te nsion disk, while holding the thread securely with both hands. Next slip in to guide directly below the tension from right to left.
Slip the thread into the third sl ot closest to the take-up lever. Slip thread through third slot on the right; next slip it in front of the thread guide and then into the eye of the needle (E) on the right.
Threading Blue Cover Stitch Needle: Top Cover Thread Guide Thread the top cover guide by sli pping th e thread under the gu ide from right to left, and then pull the th read under the small round disk from the right side.

Slip the thread into the center slot. Slip thread through cen ter slot; next slip it in fron t of the thread guide and then into the eye of the center (D) needle. Finally thre ad the tail of the thread through the opening in the foot directly below the n eedle, pull thread under the foot and to the ba ck of the serger.
Threading Orange Cover Stitch Needle: Top Cover Thread Gu ide Orange Needle Thread the top cover thread guide by slipping t he thread under the guide from right to left, and then pull t he thread under the small r ound disk from the right side.
Lay thread through Orange tension disk, while holding the thre ad securely with both hands. Next slip in to guide directly below the tension from right to left.
Slip the thread into the first slot. Slip thread through first slot on the left; next slip it i n front of the thread guide and then into the eye of the (C) needle on the left. Finally thread the tail of the thread throug h the opening in the fo ot directly below the n eedle, pull thread under the foot and to th e back of the serger.
Threading Red Lower Looper: Top Cover Thread Guide Thread the top cover thread guide by slipping t he thread under the guide from the right to left, and then pull t he thre ad under the small round disk from the right side.
Lay thread through Red tensio n disk while holdin g the thread securely with both hands. Next slip into guide directly below the te nsion from right to left. Using tweezers slip the thread into the slot at the back of the thread guide, a nd then into the next 3 guides marked with small red dots.
Thread the eye of th e lower looper as shown, maki ng sure that the thread is positioned in the V cut out in front of the looper threader. Pull the thread tail to the back of the serger approximately 4 to 6 inches.
Threading Brown Cover Stitch Looper: Top Cover Thread Guide Thread the top cover guide by sli pping th e thread under the gu ide fro m the rig ht to the left, and then pull the thread under the small round disk from the right side.
Lay thread through Brown tension disk wh ile holding th e thre ad securely with both hands. Next slip in to guide directly below the tension from right to left.
Using the tweezers thread th e next 4 guides identified with a small brown dot . Using the tweezers thread the last thread guide that is located on the left just below the looper.
Tugging slightly on the thread tail at the back of the serger, push threader lever all the way up and to the left to hook the thread into the eye at the back of the looper.
Attaching Cover Stitch Plate: Remove the knife cover (overedge plate) by gently raising the lever as shown and pulling the cover towards you. Slip the Cover Stitch Plate onto the fron t cover by raising th e lever as shown and pushing the plate toward s the machine until it snaps into place.
In order for the Cover Stitch Plate to si t properly, you must set the seam width finger to the “R” position. TIPS FOR TRIPLE COVER STITCH • Be sure to follow the thread ing sequence outl ined above. • Make sure needles are set- up in positions C, D, and E for the Triple Cover Stitch.
HOW TO DISENGAGE THE MOVAB LE UPPER KNIFE Disengage Movable Upper Knife: Pull the holder (screw) as fa r as it will go to the righ t, and swing the knife down until it clicks into the r esting position. (To re-engage the knife, pull the holder to th e right and swing th e knife up until it clicks into the working position.
HOW TO CONVERT THE GREEN UPPER LOOPER TO A SPREADER To produce the following stitches you must convert the uppe r looper to a spreader . • 2-Thread Wrapped Edge Ov erlock • 2-Thread Overedge • 3-Thread Ultra Stretch Mo ck Safety Stitch • 4-Thread Safety Stitch Push white spreader l ever up so that spreader sli ps into the eye of the looper.
