The speed of the local network segment (10BaseT/100BaseTX Ethernet) is automatically detected. Line Out - For connecting a public address (PA) syst em or an active speaker with a built-in amplifier.

12 AXIS 214 PTZ - Accessing the camera Pan/Tilt/Zoom controls The Live View page also displays the Pan/Tilt/Zoom controls . These are enable d/disabled for specif ied users by the administrator under System Options > Security > Users > User List .
13 AXIS 214 PTZ - Accessing the camera Viewer controls The default viewer to use for displaying movi ng images is selected from Setup >> Live View Config >> Layout. The AMC viewer toolbar is available in Microsoft Internet Explorer only. See AXIS Media Control, on page 17 for more information.

15 AXIS 214 PTZ - Video and Audio Streams Video and Audio Streams The AXIS 214 PTZ provides several d ifferent ima ge and video formats. The type to use depends on your requirements and on the properties of your network.
16 AXIS 214 PTZ - Video and Audio Streams Audio Stream Types The audio stream types for audio are: • G.7 1 1 - International standard for encoding wired-telephone audio. Uses PCM samples to compress audio where high er sig nal values are compre ssed more than lower values.
17 AXIS 214 PTZ - Video and Audio Streams How to stream MPEG-4 Deciding on the combination of protocols and methods to use depends on your viewing requirements, and on the proper ties of your network. Setting the preferred method(s) is done in the control applet for AMC, which is found in the Windows Control Panel.
18 AXIS 214 PTZ - Video and Audio Streams Other methods of accessing the video stream Video/images from the AXIS 214 PTZ can al so be accessed in the following ways: • If supported by the client, th e AXIS 214 PTZ can use Motion JPEG server push to dis - play video.
19 AXIS 214 PTZ - Video and Audio Streams When audio is transmitted using MPEG-4, the Axis product sends synchronization information along with the streams to th e client performing the synchronization. Audio is streamed from the client to the se rver over HTTP when using both Motion JPEG and MPEG-4.

21 AXIS 214 PTZ - Video & Ima ge settings Video & Image settings Image Appearance Adjust these settings to optimize the vi deo images according to your requirements. All configuration of images and overlays w ill affect the performance of the camera, depending on usage and the available bandwidth.
22 AXIS 214 PTZ - Video & Image settin gs Overlay Settings Use these settings to includ e a) an image as an overlay, and/or b) the date and time, along with text of your own. Text overlays are all included on one line at the top or bottom of the video image.

25 AXIS 214 PTZ - Video & Ima ge settings MPEG-4 Tools for adjusting the MPEG-4 settings and for controlling the video bit rate. The MPEG-4 standard provides many different coding tools for various applications in different situations.
26 AXIS 214 PTZ - Audio Audio The AXIS 214 PTZ can transmit audio to other clients, by connect ing a microphone and can play audio received from other clients by atta ching a speake r. Note: The speaker attached to th e Line out connector on th e AXIS 214 PTZ must have a built-in amplifier, which is available in e.
27 AXIS 214 PTZ - Audio • Half-duplex mode also transmits and receives audio in both directions, but only in one direction at a time (with the help of the push-to-talk button). T o speak, press and hold the button (check that the microphone is not muted).
28 AXIS 214 PTZ - Audio Advanced Audio Settings The Advanced Audio settings allow you to tune the external mic rophone connec ted to the AXIS 214 PTZ’s connection module to suit your environment. Enable sp eech filter improves the sound quality when th e microphone is placed close to the person talking and can also help reduce ba ckground noise.
29 AXIS 214 PTZ - Audio There is a trade-off between noise canceling an d sound quality. In other words, increasing the noise canc eller attenu ation deteriorates sound quality. Adjust the threshold and the attenuation to an optimum by listening and changing the levels.
30 AXIS 214 PTZ - Live View Confi g Live View Config Layout These are the tools for deciding the layout of the Live View page. The layout can be set in 3 ways: • Use Axis look - the layout is unchanged. • Use custom settings - mo dify the default page with your own colors, images etc.
31 AXIS 214 PTZ - Live View Config Upload Own Web Files Your own web files, background picture, color etc. must first be uploaded to the AXIS 214 PTZ in order to be available for selection i n the Custom Settings setup dialog. Once uploaded, the files are shown in the drop-down list.

33 AXIS 214 PTZ - Live View Config HTML Examples You can add live video from the AXIS 214 PT Z to your own web si te. The camera can transmit a Motion JPEG or unicast MPEG-4 st ream to up to 20 simultaneous con nections, although an administrator can restrict this to fewer.
34 AXIS 214 PTZ - PTZ Configuration PTZ Configuration Preset Positions A preset position is a pre-defined camera vi ew that can quickly and easily be viewed. From Pre set Position Setup , use the Pan, Tilt and Zoom (PTZ ) controls to steer the camera to the required position.
35 AXIS 214 PTZ - PTZ Configuration Control Queue PTZ Control Queue - The administrator can set up a queue for the PTZ controls. Once set up, the PTZ Control Queue buttons will appear on the Live View page offering one viewer exclusive control for a limited amount of time .

37 AXIS 214 PTZ - Event Configuration Event Types An Event Type is a set of parameters describing how and when the AXIS 214 PTZ is to perform certain actions. Example: If somebody passes a connected sens or and an event type has been configured to act on this, the cam - era can e.
38 AXIS 214 PTZ - Event Configu ration Pre-trigger and Post- trigger buffers This function is very useful when checking to see what happened immediately before and after a trigger, e.g. 2 minutes before an d after a door has been opened. Check the Upload images checkbox under Event Types > Add Triggere d.
39 AXIS 214 PTZ - Event Configuration Motion Detection The AXIS 214 PTZ can be configured for motion detection. This feature is used to generate an alarm whenever movement starts (or st ops) in the image. The AXIS 214 PTZ can use a maximum of 10 Include/Exclude windows.

41 AXIS 214 PTZ - System Options System Options Security - Users User access control is enabled by default, when the administrator sets the root password on the first access. Other users are authorized with user names and passwords, or the administrator can choose to a llow anonymous viewer login to the Live View page, as described below.
42 AXIS 214 PTZ - System Options Security - HTTPS For greater security, the AXIS 214 PTZ can be configured to use HTTPS (Hypertext Transfer Protocol over SSL (Secure Socket Laye r)). This means that all communication that would otherwise go via HTTP will instea d go via an encrypted HTTPS connection.

44 AXIS 214 PTZ - System Options Network - Advanced TCP/IP Settings DNS Configuration DNS (Domain Name Service) provides the transl ation of host names to IP addresses on your network. Obtain DNS se rver address via D HCP - automatically use the DNS server settings provided by the DHCP server.
45 AXIS 214 PTZ - System Options HTTP The default HTTP port number (port 80) can be changed to any port within the range 1024-65535. This is useful for e.g. simple security port mapping. HTTPS The default HTTPS port number (443) can be changed to any port within the range 1024-65535.
