HMEC 46-1 Instructions for use.
1 Safety instructions • Please read this instr uction manual carefully and com- pletely before using the headset. • Make this instruction manual easily accessible to a ll users at all times. • Always include this instr uction manual when passing the headset on to third parties.
2 • Only replace those part s of the headset whose replacement is described in this i nstruction manual. All other parts of the head set must be replaced by your Sennheiser agent. • Protect the headset from humidity. Use only a slightly damp cloth to clean the headset.
3 The HMEC 46-1 headset The HMEC 46-1 headset with NoiseGard™ active noise com- pensation features dyna mic, open headphones. T he noise- compensating condenser micr ophone ensure s excellent speech transmission even in noisy envi ronments. De signed for use in aircraft cockpits.

5 Putting on the headset When putting on the headse t, the patented two-piece headband adjust s au tomatically. Positionin g the microphone Bend the flexible microphone boom so that the micro- phone is placed at the corner of the mouth. Maintain a dis- tance of approx.
6 Flipping away one earcu p The headset features a “flip-away” earcup for single-sided listening. Adjusting the volum e directly on the audio system Connect the headset to the co rresponding sockets of your audio system. Adjust the volume di rectly on the audio system.
7 Adjusting the microphone sensitivity The microphone sensitivity has been factory pre-set to 80 mV/Pa as per RTCA DO-214. You can change the microphone sensitivity b y turning a small scr ewdriver in the direction of the arrow.

10 Using the headset Switching N oiseGard™ on/of f The NoiseGard™ ON/OFF switch allows yo u to switch the NoiseGard™ active noise compe nsation on or off. With NoiseGard™ switched off, the headset can be used as a conventional headset. 왘 Set the NoiseGard™ ON/OFF switch to t he desired position: ON: NoiseGard™ is s witched on.
11 Switching between mo no and stereo mode The mono/stere o switch allows you to switch between mono ( ) and stereo ( ) mode, depend ing on the audio system. 왘 Set the mono/stereo switch to the desired posi- tion: mono ( ) or stereo ( ).
12 The operating time with batt eries/rechargeable batteries is approx. 100 hours. With NoiseGard™ switched on (see page 10), the LED provides information on t he remaining battery/r echarge- able battery capacity. LED lights up ye llow: The battery cap acity is suffi- cient.
13 Connecting a mobile t elephone (cable -BV-K / -BV-KP only) The 2.5 mm 3-pole jack socket allows you to connect a mobile telephone. For this purpose, the NoiseGard™ active noise compensation mu st be switched on and the microphone connector must be connected to the aircraft radio/audio.
14 Connecting an additional audio player (cable -BV-K / -BV- KP only) The 3.5 mm jack socket allows you to connect and listen to an audio player (not supplied) through the headset. For this p urpose, the NoiseGard™ active noise compens ation must be swit ched on.
15 Care and mainten ance Cleaning the headse t Use a soft, slightly damp cloth to clean the headset from time to time. If the headset is very dir ty, use a cloth dampened with mild, soapy water. Replacing the ear pads For reasons of hygiene, the ear pads should be re placed from time to time.
16 Accessories and spare parts By changing the cables, you can simply retrofit different operating controls (see “The o perating contr ols of the HMEC 46-1” on page 8 and 9) or connectors (see “Product variants” on page 17). • Cable -CP Cat.
